Right then, the surveillance operator in the monitoring room, mid-sip of his cola and munching on fried chicken, suddenly choked, spraying his drink everywhere—every single monitor now showed a little mouse dancing in loops.
Realizing something terrible had happened, he grabbed his phone and called the manager of security.
The operator shouted, "Manager, emergency! We've been hacked—lost all surveillance feeds. We can't see anything on any floor now."
On hearing this, the manager barked, "Get the tech team on it now! Find a way to restore surveillance as soon as possible."
After hanging up, the manager immediately called his superior. The message was quickly relayed up the chain of command, one level after another, until at last, the call reached the "King" of the Underground Kingdom himself.
Gripping his scepter, the King rose excitedly. "Someone dares to stir up trouble in my domain? How amusing. Prepare my car—I shall witness this spectacle myself."
After causing major disruptions, Zoe then hacked into the security system and set off all the fire alarms throughout the entire auction hall.
All at once, alarms blared throughout the auction hall as sprinkler systems activated everywhere. The place immediately turned into a chaotic downpour—no one could escape getting soaked.
"What the hell is going on? Where's the security? Get this under control now!"
The auction staff panicked—after all, many of the lots were water-sensitive and couldn't afford to get wet.
As the staff stood frozen in confusion, chaos erupted among the privileged guests.
Fire alarms blared—a real inferno could erupt at any moment. Staying here would be suicidal. These guests were all VIPs who hadn't even had their fill of luxury yet. None of them want to die now.
Amid the chaos, there was a bigger problem.
All of a sudden, a group of masked thieves stormed into the auction hall and made off with every single priceless lot stored backstage, clearing out the entire stash in no time.
They moved in and out with military precision, leaving the staff completely dumbfounded.
"Robbery! This is goddamn daylight robbery!" someone in the crowd yelled.
But with everyone scrambling to escape, no one would bother with such desperate shouts.
Hidden in the shadows, Zoe waited until the chaos was enough, then called Dimitri.
"Light it up," Zoe commanded.
As planned, Dimitri and his men would spread gasoline in controlled spots. Once ignited, the flames would create the illusion of a raging inferno engulfing the place.
The chaos would help them move the stolen goods.
Dimitri had his sights set on both the cash and the auction items. Since he was helping Zoe and Shawn anyway, he figured he might as well make a killing—to make this whole operation worthwhile.
Zoe had no interest in wealth, so her deal with Dimitri was simple: he would provide the manpower, all the profits would go to him, and in return, Zoe's only goal was to bring down the underground auction for good.
Meanwhile, Shawn had arrived at the surgery prep area.
Several clients had already completed all the pre-op preparations and were just waiting to be wheeled in for their organ transplants.
Shawn stepped forward and deliberately shouted, "Fire alert! Get out now, or you'll be trapped!"
The clients didn't believe him. "This is the Underground Kingdom's turf—how could there possibly be a fire?"
Right on cue, alarms blared throughout the entire B2 level as smoke started filling the air.
Everyone was terrified.
"The fire's real!"
"What about our surgeries? They're not done yet!"
"We'd better run for our lives now, or we'll die here."
The transplant patients, healthy enough to move quickly, scrambled to escape the moment the fire broke out, leaving their surgeries behind.
Shawn thought the danger had passed.
But as Shawn checked a few random rooms, he found several frail patients still lying inside. 'They must be the big shots' loved ones, whom the auctioned organs were meant to save,' he thought.
