Dust flew as Zoe grabbed the Black Knight and slammed him into the ground.
The crowd gasped, their minds struggling to keep up with the sudden reversal. In an instant, the roles had flipped: Zoe, not the Black Knight, was the one delivering the punishment. The sheer force of her attack left everyone stunned, questioning what they were seeing.
With all her strength, Zoe effortlessly dodged the Black Knight's punch, seized his leg, and swung the six-foot-five giant left and right like a ragdoll—the mighty warrior now reduced to a plaything. This brutal humiliation was far worse than a mere public defeat.
Zoe kept slamming the Black Knight into the ground, over and over, until his head was bloodied and he was barely clinging to life. Only then did she finally drop him.
The Black Knight lay there, wishing the earth would swallow him whole. 'How could she be so strong?' he thought, his pride shattered. 'I'm a grown man—how is she tossing me around like this?'
Seeing the Black Knight trying to get up, Zoe strode forward and stomped on his face. "Take me to see the King," she commanded.
Although Zoe didn't look the least bit imposing, her words sent a chill through the crowd. "What audacity!" people gasped. "Is she out of her mind? She actually wants to see the King?"
The Black Knight spat bitterly, "You think you've won because you beat me? I'm just a pawn in the King's game. He's got men far deadlier than me. Step into his palace, and you're as good as dead."
"That's none of your concern," Zoe said flatly, her resolve unshaken.
Just then, Dimitri and his men slipped into the crowd. As Zoe made her move, their eyes met—a silent signal that it was time for her to make good on her promise.
Aileen couldn't believe how useless the Black Knight was—not only did he fail to land a single hit on Zoe, he got utterly thrashed. It was a real slap in the face. Remembering all her earlier provocations, she thought anxiously, 'If Zoe decides to get back at me, I'm doomed.'
So Aileen decided to slip away quietly from the crowd. "Revenge can wait—there will be other chances," she told herself. As she left, she couldn't resist casting one last longing glance at Shawn. 'Such a fine man... It's unbearable that I can't have him,' she thought bitterly.
No one even noticed Aileen slipping away—all eyes were still fixed on Zoe, stunned by her bold demand. "She actually wants to see the King?" people whispered. "Is she out of her mind, or just asking for a death sentence?"
"Fine. Since you're so eager to see the King, let me go and I'll take you there," the Black Knight spat. He may have lost to Zoe, but that didn't mean the King's court was short on experts. He decided to teach Zoe a good lesson.
The Black Knight struggled shakily to his feet, clumsily wiping the blood from his face as he limped toward the crowd. Terrified of being dragged into the crossfire, the onlookers parted, quickly clearing a path for him.
Zoe and Shawn followed closely behind. As they passed Dimitri, Zoe gave him a meaningful nod. Immediately understanding her signal, Dimitri quickly led his men away.
Shawn glanced at the departing Dimitri. "You're going all in, huh?"
Zoe's cold expression softened into a smile as she looked at Shawn. "You know, if you're going to take a step, you might as well run the whole mile."
"Whatever you plan to do, I'll be with you till the end," Shawn said coolly, ignoring Zoe's flirtatious teasing. That was his stance.
Zoe grinned and teased, "Honey, you're so charming that I can't help but want to plant one on you."
Zoe said it with a playful grin, but didn't actually make a move—she'd just noticed someone staring at them from the crowd.
