Another woman chimed in, "Exactly! Just kill her and be done with it."
"No way. I can't have anyone I want." Kadeem snatched the wine glass from the woman's hand, drained it in one gulp, and then smashed it against the floor. "Guards!"
At Kadeem's command, four men in bizarre attire materialized instantly. Their menacing aura alone marked them as no ordinary foes.
If the Black Knight was merely Kadeem's lapdog, then these four were his most trusted enforcers—second only to the King himself. They rarely appeared, so the fact that Kadeem had summoned them now spoke volumes about the depth of his fury.
"Such an insolent woman," Kadeem snarled icily. "Bring me her arm."
Hunk, the burly man, stepped forward with a sneer and scoffed, "Come on, it's just a weak girl. No need for all four of us—I can take her down myself."
"Trying to show off in front of the King, huh? Don't think the rest of us are just gonna sit back and watch," said the lanky man, spinning a dagger between his fingers.
The other two—one brandishing a whip, the other gripping a pistol—were itching for a chance to show off and prove themselves.
Hunk scoffed, "You want all four of us to gang up on an ordinary girl? If word gets out, we'd be the laughingstock of the whole town!"
"Bring it on, all of you," Zoe said, her voice calm and steady.
The four men turned their gaze on her in unison.
After a stunned moment of silence, everyone around erupted into mocking, uproarious laughter.
"Damn, this is the first time I've ever seen the Top Four getting disrespected like this!"
"Yeah. The Top Four just got humiliated by that woman—let's see how they'll ever live this down!"
"If you ask me, this woman's got a death wish."
"Seriously, the Top Four? Not a single one of them has ever even been scratched in a fight, let alone all four at once. And this woman thinks she can take them all on? What a joke!"
No one believed Zoe could defeat the Top Four—let alone that these men would ever tolerate being humiliated. The crowd braced themselves for the carnage to come; they were certain they'd soon see her torn to pieces.
Kadeem observed Zoe's defiance with amused interest. He knew his four subordinates were anything but ordinary—their skills surpassed human limits. He thought, 'If this woman actually defeats all four of them, I'd grovel to her.' But he kept that shameful wager to himself.
Unable to hold back any longer, Hunk scoffed, "You've got some nerve. Think you're that tough? Fine—let's make it interesting. If you can take me down in three moves, I'll kneel and call you 'Boss'."
The other three stayed silent, clearly intending to watch the situation unfold. They were a shade wiser than the Hunk, hence their restraint.
Hunk scoffed at his companions' hesitation, sneering, "What a bunch of cowards. Just sit back and watch how I wipe the floor with this woman!"
Zoe didn't move. Her voice was icy calm. "Enough talk. All of you, come at me."
At her words, the crowd instantly erupted in outrage.
"What are you waiting for, Top Four? This woman is practically spitting in your faces."
"Damn right! If she's got a death wish, then all four of you should just jump her already!"
"Nothing wrong with beating her down—she totally had it coming with that attitude!"
Everyone was rooting for the Top Four to gang up on her—mainly because they were dying to see if this reckless woman Zoe really had what it took to back up her big talk.
The Top Four exchanged glances. Hunk turned to the other three and growled, "Forget your damn pride—she's humiliating the King right now."
