Zoe fixed her gaze on Andrew. "Drop the gun and live. Keep it, and you die."
Andrew sneered, "You think I'm scared of you? I don't believe you can stop all these bullets." He shot a look at his three remaining men.
The four men opened fire on Zoe simultaneously, bullets flying so thick there was nowhere to hide. They were convinced Zoe was dead, triumphant grins spreading across their faces.
But the next second, their grins turned to stone. Andrew gasped, "No way! How are you still alive?"
Before Andrew and his men could process what had happened, murmurs of shock rippled through the surrounding passengers.
"Damn! She's using corpses as bullet shields."
"This woman is a total psycho."
Aileen screamed, "Shoot! Kill her now!"
Egged on by Aileen, Andrew let loose a spray of bullets. Another hail of gunfire rained down, only stopping when their weapons finally jammed.
They thought this time they'd finally get Zoe. Yet once again, their hopes were dashed. She swiftly used the corpses on the ground as shields, dodging every lethal bullet with chilling precision.
Still fuming, Aileen lunged for the gun to take aim at Zoe herself. But before she could even touch it, a hand was already there, snatching the weapon away.
Zoe pressed the gun against Aileen's temple. "We're not mortal enemies, are we? What's your problem with me?"
Aileen glared at Zoe and snapped, "Your very existence gets in my way."
Zoe had to admit, Aileen had balls—even with a gun to her head, she still wore that defiant stare. "Don't forget our deal," Zoe said coolly. "Once I take out these guys, I get 66 million dollars."
Before Aileen could retort, Zoe delivered a swift strike to her neck, knocking her out cold. She casually tossed Aileen back into her seat, then turned her attention to the four hijackers.
The four had no fight left in them. Seeing Zoe approach, they didn't even think twice before dropping their guns on the ground.
"Sorry, we were wrong!" They bowed their heads at once, begging Zoe to spare their lives.
The passengers and flight attendants were utterly awestruck by Zoe's ruthless efficiency. Once they'd doubted her, but now they were completely won over. Had the situation allowed, they would've stood up and cheered.
Zoe fixed her icy gaze on Andrew.
Andrew suddenly recalled Zoe's words. Without hesitation, he snapped both his arms with a sickening crack. The other three, scared shitless, instantly did the same—Zoe had broken them completely.
No one dared meet Zoe's gaze now; everyone braced for her next move.
Zoe turned to Aileen's two bodyguards and ordered, "Tie up the living ones. Dump the dead in the toilet."
The two bodyguards exchanged a glance and sprang into action. In less than a minute, the cabin was spotless and everyone settled back down. By then, the plane was closing in on its destination.
Before the plane landed, the captain reported the incident to air traffic control. Once it landed, police would take the hijackers and the bodies into custody.
Zoe, the heroine who'd saved everyone, and Shawn would be ushered off by competition officials.
Once Shawn and Zoe were seated in the car, the escort turned to Zoe, his face glowing with excitement. "How did you manage to single-handedly take on so many hijackers?
"Plus, this was a heroic rescue. Why are you keeping such a low profile about it? You know this could actually give you extra points in the competition."
Zoe shot the talkative escort a cold look. Instantly, a chill ran down the escort's spine, and he clammed up, not daring to say another word.
Zoe and Shawn checked into the competition's designated hotel, reserved exclusively for elite contestants and judges.
The contestants, young elites from different countries, would gather at this hotel. They carried themselves with supreme arrogance, looking down their noses at everyone else.
They especially dismissed contestants from Clusia. The moment Zoe and Shawn stepped in, some even started muttering snide comments under their breath.
"Clusia's got some nerve—always dead last, yet they still crawl back every year."
"Well, with Clusia in the competition, we'll never have to worry about being dead last. What a perfect setup!"
These people were big-mouthed, gossiping right in front of Zoe as if she didn't matter. But Zoe couldn't care less; she was here for the ancient knightly sword, and other people's opinions meant nothing to her.
Just then, Aileen appeared and snapped, "Zoe, how dare you knock me out?" She had been detained for police questioning, so she arrived at the hotel later than the others. The moment she spotted Zoe, she flared up, itching to pick a fight.
Zoe shot Aileen a look, not wasting any words. She strode up to Shawn, grabbed the back of his head, and pulled him down into a scorching, provocative kiss.
The scene struck straight to Aileen's core. "I swear I'll kill you today!" she shrieked. But no matter how hard she struggled, her two bodyguards held her back tightly, making it impossible for her to get anywhere near Zoe.
"Ms. Carleton, please calm down. We're no match for her," one of the bodyguards said.
"Useless!" Aileen shrieked, slapping both bodyguards. "I pay you good money, and this is how you humiliate me when it matters most?"
The two bodyguards exchanged helpless glances. One finally spoke up, "Zoe's a stone-cold killer. We can't take her head-on; we need to play this smart."
"Enough talk. Give me a real plan to take Zoe out," Aileen snapped.
But the two bodyguards weren't about to mess with Zoe. That'd be suicide.
Meanwhile, Zoe and Shawn stepped into the elevator. Before the doors closed, Zoe deliberately kissed Shawn on the cheek.
Aileen was boiling with rage, yet she could do nothing about it.
Just then, a woman appeared beside her. "Long time no see, Ms. Carleton."
Aileen composed herself instantly. "Let's talk in my room," she said.
Aileen stepped into the elevator with the heavily masked woman.
Once inside Aileen's room, Sophia finally removed her mask, revealing her face.
Aileen scoffed, "Why all the secrecy? Afraid someone might recognize you here?"
Sophia said quietly, "I'm just here to watch the competition, and I'd better stay under the radar. I'm just a defenseless woman with no special talents. Can't help you directly, but maybe I can offer you some useful leads."
