"Since being reported means mandatory testing, I'm reporting everyone here. Arrange the tests immediately." Zoe threw Harry a real curveball. That did it. The whole place erupted into chaos.
With only half an hour left before the match, Zoe was here, causing a scene.
Some were aboveboard and had nothing to fear, but that didn't mean everyone was squeaky clean.
The banned substances, like performance-enhancing drugs, persisted simply because some people would do anything to win the championship.
Sure, it was unfair to the others, but winners would do whatever it took to come out on top.
Zoe had just stirred up the mess, and now, contestants were cursing her out left and right.
"You're so vicious. Can't win fair and square, so you have to sabotage our performance too?"
"Unbelievable. She's so shameless, honestly. Since she broke the rules, throw her out of the competition venue right now."
"Get this troublemaker out of here, now."
Everyone was desperate to see Zoe kicked out.
Zoe turned to Harry and challenged. "Why not just grab someone at random right here for the test?"
Harry insisted, "You're the one being tested. You go first."
Zoe didn't agree. Without hesitation, she grabbed a random person from the crowd and shoved them toward Harry. "I need to verify your equipment isn't rigged."
"To save time, why not test everyone at once? Otherwise, the match will be delayed," suggested a concerned contestant.
Zoe declared, "Great idea. Let's test everyone's blood at once."
Harry had no choice. On top of that, the contestants, eager not to delay the match, were practically lining up to get tested. This forced him to give in to their demands.
In no time, dozens of contestants were lined up getting their blood drawn, needles pricking into their arms one after another.
The test results would be out in half an hour. For that half hour, every single contestant resented Zoe. Each of them glared at her with murderous intent.
But even in their fury, none dared throw a punch. Violence here meant instant disqualification. Every single one of them was raring to go, eager to win the competition.
After an agonizing half-hour wait, the test results were finally in. Naturally, those who were clean had nothing to worry about, while the guilty ones had already withdrawn from the competition before the results were even announced.
The arena fell silent as all eyes turned to Zoe, awaiting her test results with bated breath.
"Damn that bitch, if it weren't for her, I wouldn't have been disqualified."
"I want to see that bitch disqualified with my own eyes right alongside me."
"That's right. If we're going down, we're taking her with us."
Those disqualified for doping were now seething with resentment, all dying to see Zoe crash and burn.
Strangely enough, Harry seemed even more fixated on the results than Zoe and them.
He had personally watched Zoe drink the spiked liquor; there was no way he could be wrong. But when he saw the test report, he froze in utter disbelief. "Th-this can't be. You clearly—"
Zoe strode up to him, snatched the report from his hands, and said coldly, "What? That I drank your spiked drink?"
The official report confirmed Zoe's blood test was perfectly normal with no trace of banned substances. The crowd erupted in disbelief.
"But wait? Wasn't she reported?"
"How the hell is she clean?"
"You clearly drank the spiked drink, damn it. This report has to be wrong," Harry snapped, no longer afraid of offending Zoe, and outright admitted he'd tampered with the test.
Zoe shot back. "The report speaks for itself. Or is your machine faulty?"
Zoe's sharp retort left Harry utterly deflated. The crowd held their breath, all eyes locked on Harry, waiting for his verdict.
Harry snapped, "This isn't over yet. I'm sending the remaining blood samples to the official lab for retesting. If anything shows up, you'll be disqualified. Even if you win the match."
"Go ahead," Zoe retorted, completely unfazed.
With the chaos barely settled, the match kicked off in no time. This was a king-of-the-hill match. Contestants took turns challenging whoever was in the ring.
Contestants could enter the ring first or last, but once they won, they were automatically required to face the next challenger.
