As if by some unspoken agreement, not a single contestant stepped into the ring. All eyes were on Zoe, waiting for her to step into the ring.
Just then, Aileen, having just received some backstage intel, couldn't help but sneer. "Zoe, you've managed to piss off every contestant before I even lifted a finger. Seems fate has decided you're going down in flames."
But Aileen wasn't about to take this lying down. Now that the attempt to spike Zoe's drink had failed, she immediately started plotting her next move.
She was dead set on seeing Zoe utterly defeated. She wouldn't rest until Zoe lost everything, humiliated and crushed in front of everyone.
Harry announced sternly, "One of you must step into the ring now, or you'll all forfeit the match."
The ring stayed empty, making Harry increasingly desperate. He was left with no choice but to threaten the contestants.
"Send her in."
"Once she's in, we're in."
Realizing everyone was out to get Zoe, Harry glared at Zoe. "You've got two choices now. Either forfeit the match and get the hell out of here, or step into the ring and face the challenges."
Harry was clearly determined to disqualify Zoe.
"Get out."
"Withdraw from the match."
The entire lineup was dead set against Zoe. Zoe swept her gaze over the crowd, then wordlessly strode out of the waiting room.
One of the contestants frowned in confusion. "Wait? Is she really quitting the match?"
But soon, the crowd fell silent. There was no chance for her to quit. She marched straight into the ring instead.
"Ladies and gentlemen, look. The first one to step into the ring is from Clusia, and she's a young lady. Alright everyone, let's give her a big round of applause. The emcee raised an eyebrow as Zoe stepped into the ring.
But being the professional he was, he quickly livened up the atmosphere.
"So, who's going to step up and challenge her next?"
"I'll take her on." A hulking brute strode onto the ring.
Aileen broke into a smug smile the moment she saw the contender. 'Looks like Zoe's in for some real trouble now,' she wondered.
"Look at this formidable contender. He absolutely towers over Zoe, easily twice her size. It's hard to predict how their match will turn out, folks. Let's all watch and see what happens," said the emcee.
The emcee began counting down between the two fighters. "Three, two, one—fight."
As soon as the emcee stepped back, the hulking fighter lunged straight at Zoe. The brute swung his massive fist at Zoe, aiming to smash her with all his strength.
The crowd erupted in cheers, certain Zoe would be pummeled by the hulking brute.
"Take down that woman from Clusia."
"Clusia sucks. Destroy her."
"Our champion is the best. Crush your opponent."
Aileen raised her wine glass with a smug smile and took a slow sip.
"Ms. Carleton, you seem awfully pleased. Is this guy really that tough?" the bodyguard asked curiously.
"Of course. He's Leamoin's top boxer—never lost a single fight." Aileen smirked and said, "If any of you faced him, he'd smash your skulls open."
The bodyguard couldn't help thinking, 'That's a bit much.'
With a thunderous crash, the entire arena shook as the brute's fist slammed into the ring, leaving a deep crater where Zoe had just been standing. Just then, with a boom, the entire ring shook violently.
The brute's punch cratered the ring where Zoe had been standing. But Zoe was nowhere to be seen.
"Holy shit, did that woman just get pancaked?"
"Could be. Where else would she be?"
Everyone searched for Zoe, but she was nowhere to be seen.
With lightning speed, Zoe sprang into the air and grabbed the chandelier overhead with one hand, vanishing from sight in an instant, so that no one noticed her at all.
"Look up. Zoe's up there." At that shout, everyone looked up.
The hulking brute also looked up, his eyes scanning the ceiling.
Seeing her opponent look up, Zoe knew this was her moment. 'Now's my chance,' she thought, and released her grip, dropping like a stone.
The crowd's eyes widened in shock. 'Is she out of her mind?' they wondered.
"With her petite frame, that fall's gonna shatter every bone in her body."
"Just wait. That brute will snap her neck in one go."
"No. Break every bone in her body."
Everyone was waiting to see the show.
