As countless snowflakes swirled down upon them, they felt just one thing: cold.
Ryan called out, "Well? Feeling cold yet?"
"Freezing!" the group shouted in unison.
Ryan barked, "This is just the beginning. You must acclimate to this temperature fast. Soon, you'll be heading into a 22 below zero Fahrenheit environment for your final challenge."
Everyone froze when they heard the news.
One trainee shouted, "Sir, people might survive in that kind of environment, but we don't have adequate clothing."
Ryan snapped, "That's not our concern. Figure out how to survive on your own!"
Hearing this, most trainees were stunned. They thought, 'Figure something out? How? Without proper winter gear, we'll freeze to death in there sooner or later.'
Zoe and Shawn sprang into action first. They dashed toward two instructors. They overpowered the two instructors and stripped off their winter coats.
"What the hell are you doing?" Ryan roared in fury.
The rest of the trainees, seeing a way out, quickly followed suit. In no time, the instructors were left shivering in nothing but their thin underwear.
Even so, a few trainees still came up empty-handed, unable to get any warm clothing.
"Begin the challenge!" Ryan commanded coldly. Without hesitation, he shoved all trainees into the freezing chamber.
The temperature inside plummeted to a bone-chilling 22 degrees below zero Fahrenheit. The second they stepped through the door, a frigid gust slammed into them, sending goosebumps rippling across their skin.
Shawn draped his coat over Zoe's shoulders and asked, "Can you handle this?"
Zoe pushed it away. "You need it too," she said.
Shawn replied, "I'm fine. I'm used to this!"
Just then, a man shouted, "Hey! These two Clusians look like easy pickings. Their coats are way warmer. Let's take 'em!"
Another chimed in, "Damn straight! If we get their gear, we won't freeze our asses off."
The rule was to stay in there for thirty minutes. As long as one didn't freeze to death or beg for mercy, one won.
Among the ten trainees, several wore only thin clothes. Seeing Zoe and Shawn as easy targets, they exchanged glances and swarmed Zoe and Shawn, attempting to snatch their coats.
Zoe and Shawn stood back-to-back.
"Shawn, looks like we're teaming up again," Zoe teased.
"Yeah!" Shawn replied, a playful smile on his usually stoic face.
Seeing his reserved yet secretly cheeky look, Zoe burst out laughing. She joked, "Don't go crying when you get beat up later!"
"Not a chance!" Shawn replied and charged straight into the fray.
At this moment, the group eyeing their clothes was poised to strike.
The rest were moving around to keep warm, watching the drama unfold.
One of the trainees snickered, "I bet they'll take down those two Clusians in a minute."
Another chimed in, "Half a minute, tops."
Someone else, still holding out hope for Zoe and Shawn, said, "These two Clusians have made it this far. I say they'll last at least ten minutes." But even he didn't believe Zoe and Shawn would win.
With the odds so lopsided, the fight finally erupted.
Zoe and Shawn fought in flawless coordination; anyone who got within half a meter was instantly repelled.
Not only did these would-be thieves fail to snatch Zoe and Shawn's coats, but they ended up being stripped down to their last layer.
Within thirty seconds, they were left standing in nothing but their underwear. At this point, sticking it out any longer would be pure suicide.
One man said, "This is bullying! I give up."
"I quit too!" another whimpered.
"We all quit!" the rest sobbed together.
Shivering and on the verge of tears, the trainees, left in their underwear, all raised their hands in defeat. In no time, Ryan had them escorted away.
The remaining trainees exchanged uneasy glances.
"Fight! If you want to live, move!" someone shouted.
Others thought, 'Indeed, it doesn't matter whose clothes we take. If we want to survive and avoid elimination, our only hope is to defeat our opponents.'
