Shawn's presence was as cold and disdainful as it could be, his handsome features marred by evident displeasure.
He repeated Clara's words. "Huh? Shame?" His tone was chilling, and his eyes were dark and menacing.
Clara was stunned on the spot, unable to believe that the man she had just accused was Shawn. Her face turned pale with fear.
"I'm so sorry, Mr. Ludwig. We had no idea it was you. I didn't scare you just now, did I?" Clara's attitude changed in an instant, becoming overly enthusiastic. "Mr. Ludwig, I apologize.
"I misspoke just now. Come, come inside and sit down. You've never been to our home before. We can have a nice chat."
As she spoke, Clara even slapped herself, as if to make amends for her disrespect toward Shawn. Throughout this, Shawn remained expressionless in the face of Clara's enthusiastic invitation.
Alfred, the butler, gave Clara a meaningful look, and she quickly caught on, apologizing profusely. "I'm sorry, it was me speaking out of turn just now. I was worried that Zoe might act recklessly and offend you. Please don't be angry."
Shawn didn't acknowledge Clara's apology. His stern expression caused cold sweat to break out on Clara's forehead.
Clara's husband was still abroad, and if he found out about this, he would likely hold her accountable. Clara kept giving Alfred meaningful glances.
Alfred finally stepped forward to help Clara. "Ms. Evans, this is your fault. You should have informed us if you were going out with Mr. Ludwig. If Mrs. Evans knew you were with Mr. Ludwig, she wouldn't have been so worried.
"Ultimately, Mrs. Evans was just overly concerned that you might be mistreated outside, which is why she acted that way. You should understand her love for you."
Alfred seemed to explain everything and even praised Clara, but everyone knew that Clara hadn't been concerned about Zoe just now. Clara had belittled and looked down upon Zoe.
Zoe laughed, showing that she didn't care about Clara at all. "No need to put on a show. Ever since I came back to this house, you've never looked at me with favor."
"How dare you speak like that in front of Mr. Ludwig? Hurry up and invite him inside," Clara said, her heart filled with anger, but her face still smiling. At this moment, she even regretted giving birth to Zoe.
At this time, Eunice, who was in the living room, found it strange that Clara hadn't returned. She walked out of the villa, and her eyes lit up when she saw Shawn standing at the entrance.
'Mr. Ludwig came to my house. Oh my god,' she thought. Eunice started to run toward him excitedly.
When she saw the woman she admired right in front of her, she completely ignored Zoe, who was standing next to Shawn.
"Mr. Ludwig, why did you come to our house? Did you come to see me?" Eunice asked excitedly.
Zoe couldn't help but laugh. "Mr. Ludwig, Eunice is asking you. Did you come to see her?"
Shawn replied indifferently, "I just drove you home."
Only then did Eunice realize what was going on. But in front of Shawn, she didn't dare to lose her temper. She just asked with red eyes, "Zoe, that's so strange. Why did Mr. Ludwig drive you home? Did you do something you shouldn't have done to Mr. Ludwig?"
Unexpectedly, Zoe nodded. "That's right. We went on a date, didn't we, Mr. Ludwig?" Zoe even happily linked her arm with Shawn's, smiling sweetly.
Although Shawn didn't speak, the look he gave Zoe was focused and earnest.
In a place where no one could see, Zoe secretly leaned close to Shawn's ear and whispered, "You wanted to spread rumors about us, right? This is a great opportunity."
