Zoe, of course, hadn't fainted. At that very moment, she picked up the phone and notified the other side. "She's in the lounge," she said.
Zoe had brought Eunice back to the lounge. Shortly after, several men entered the room, and soon intimate sounds began to emanate from within. Needless to say, a passionate scene was unfolding inside.
After leaving the room, Zoe went to the restroom and made a phone call to Shawn using her own phone, modulating her voice as she spoke.
"Mr. Ludwig, where are you? I miss you so much." Zoe's sweet voice rang out. Shawn, on the other end of the line, was taken aback for a moment.
Shawn was perceptive. Quickly, he realized that Zoe's slurred words were those of someone intoxicated. He narrowed his eyes dangerously. "You've been drinking?"
Zoe feigned a stutter. "J-just a little, I only had a tiny bit," she replied.
"Where are you?" Shawn asked, his brow furrowed. Zoe looked at herself in the mirror, a glint of calculation in her eyes.
"I-I don't know where I am. Eunice brought me here. She said she wanted to make amends and celebrate with me. Eunice is finally going to reconcile with me," Zoe said, her words disjointed.
Thinking of how Eunice had repeatedly bullied Zoe, Shawn felt something was amiss. It seems Zoe is too naive to see through such a malicious invitation, he thought to himself.
Worried about Zoe's safety, Shawn immediately said, "Share your location with me."
"Share location? Okay," Zoe quickly sent her location, a smug smile on her face. "Hey, I'm not drunk. I'm perfectly sober."
Shawn grew slightly anxious. "Stay where you are. I'm coming to get you right now."
"Mr. Ludwig, you're coming to find me? That's great. We can drink together," Zoe added, pretending to burp.
Shawn immediately left and kept Zoe on the line.
When he arrived at the club, he contacted the club's manager and, with the utmost speed, found Zoe sitting in the hallway.
"Get up," Shawn said, seeing Zoe's inebriated state. A hint of concern flickered in his eyes.
Zoe squinted at Shawn for a moment and said, "Strange, I thought I saw Mr. Ludwig. No, it couldn't be." She widened her eyes with both hands.
Shawn immediately pulled her up. "Who asked to drink so much?"
"It was Eunice. She had a lot of people toast to me, saying everyone wanted to apologize and be good friends with me. I was so happy," Zoe babbled, her words disjointed. From Zoe's fragmented sentences, Shawn quickly understood what had happened.
Today had likely been a setup, a trap specifically designed for Zoe. Fortunately, she hadn't encountered any serious trouble yet.
"Mr. Ludwig, I feel terrible. My head is spinning, and I have no strength. What's wrong with me?" Zoe suddenly leaned weakly against Shawn.
Seeing something was off with Zoe, Shawn couldn't help but think of some unpleasant possibilities. 'Could it be that Eunice—' he wondered. Shawn's face darkened. 'They're sisters, but how could she be so ruthless?
'Thank goodness Zoe called me in time. They probably didn't dare to do anything to her once they realized she had called me. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.'
"Mr. Ludwig, well—" the manager tried to explain.
"Forget everything that happened today," Shawn warned the club's manager as he picked Zoe up in his arms.
The manager immediately understood and quickly assured him, "Don't worry. I won't say a word."
Shawn carried Zoe out of the club.
In the car, Zoe kept muttering, "I feel so bad. Why do I have no strength? Am I sick?"
"You're just drunk. I'm taking you home now," Shawn said.
"Home? No, I don't want to." Zoe clung to Shawn's neck, nuzzling her soft face against his. "Mr. Ludwig, you're so warm. Like a stray dog I used to know. His name was Hardy, and he was so nice."
