Shawn let out a muffled groan. He tried to push Zoe away, but she wasn't having it.
Zoe quickly seized the opportunity to wriggle free from the covers, wrapping her limbs tightly around Shawn like a vine around a tree. Shawn was now completely entangled, unable to break free from her grasp.
At that moment, Zoe seemed to have found the most comfortable sleeping position. She nuzzled her head against Shawn's chest and let out a contented sigh.
All of Shawn's frustration and struggle dissipated in an instant. 'Poor girl, she's probably never slept this soundly before. Let her indulge just this once,' he thought to himself.
The next day, when Zoe woke up, the first thing she saw was Shawn. He was strikingly handsome, with perfectly chiseled features, a sharp jawline, and tanned skin that exuded an irresistible charm.
For years, Zoe had never slept so soundly. On the battlefield, she had to be constantly on guard against everyone.
But to her surprise, she had actually slept soundly for the first time in what she considered to be her enemy's arms. This was incredibly dangerous, she realized.
Just as she was pondering this, Shawn's voice, stern yet close, rang out above her head. "Since you're awake, get up."
Zoe froze for a moment, then immediately threw her arms around Shawn. "Mr. Ludwig, you slept with me last night. You have to take responsibility, or I'll be so embarrassed."
Shawn's temples throbbed with irritation as he faced Zoe's unyielding behavior.
But in an instant, Zoe's eyes welled up with tears, and she began to cry pitifully, her sobs punctuating the silence. "I'm ruined. I didn't go home last night, and my parents are going to be furious. They'll hate me even more."
Seeing her so distressed, Shawn couldn't bring himself to scold her. 'Forget it. I'll deal with the drinking issue later. For now, I'll just humor her,' he thought to himself.
"Go wash your face and brush your teeth. I'll make you something to eat." Shawn's voice softened considerably.
Zoe looked up at him, still sniffling, clearly reluctant to move.
"Wait here." Shawn got out of bed and went to the bathroom.
When he returned, he carried her straight to the bathroom. "Washing water, toothpaste, and toothbrush. Clean yourself up and come out when you're done."
"Mr. Ludwig, help me." Zoe pressed her advantage.
"Should I also shave you?" Shawn picked up the razor lying nearby.
Zoe's eyes widened in alarm, and she quickly wriggled out of his embrace. "No, I'll do it myself, Mr. Ludwig."
Seeing Zoe's timid yet endearing demeanor, Shawn felt a pang of tenderness. As soon as he left, Zoe began to wash her face and brush her teeth, reflecting on her mistakes from the previous day.
'How could I have slept so soundly in the enemy's arms? It was so careless,' she thought to herself.
When Zoe emerged from the restroom, Shawn was boiling water in an electric pot to make pasta.
Watching him chop tomatoes, Zoe found it oddly fascinating. She had never imagined that the legendary warrior, who struck fear into the hearts of many, was actually quite skilled at cooking.
Unable to contain herself, Zoe took out her phone and snapped a quick photo. Looking at the image on her phone, a smile unconsciously spread across her lips. Shawn was surprisingly handsome when he was gentle, as if he was glowing from within.
'Medusa was right. It would be such a pity to just kill a man this handsome. Maybe I can deal with him first,' Zoe thought to herself.
At that moment, her cold heart seemed to be gently nudged, and she felt a spark of emotion.
Zoe stayed with Shawn until he had to attend to some important matters, and then she took a taxi back home.
As soon as she walked in, she heard a wailing sound coming from the living room.
"Zoe, you actually have the nerve to come back." Eunice, who had been sitting on the couch crying, stood up abruptly and stormed toward Zoe as soon as she saw her.
Eunice raised her hand as if to slap Zoe's face, but Zoe wasn't about to stand there and take it.
In an instant, Zoe's demeanor shifted from the vulnerable stance she had shown in front of Shawn. She quickly grabbed Eunice's wrist and twisted it behind her back.
