3 billion was an astronomical figure for everyone.
Even the richest person in Clusia would think twice before withdrawing that much from liquid assets. The wealthy Evans family, at the pinnacle of Jelonsburg's social hierarchy, had an entire net worth of just a few billion.
Yet Zoe's profit from rescuing that small company was 3 billion. It was crazy—one thousand times more than Eunice's 3 million, which came in second.
"Oh, my god. Am I mistaken? God, how is that even possible?" Cheryl's jaw nearly hit the floor.
Unable to believe the number displayed on the screen, Cheryl rubbed her eyes repeatedly. "This is impossible. The system must be malfunctioning. How could a company on the verge of bankruptcy make such a huge profit in such a short time?"
"Zoe must have cheated! Didn't the organizers bother to check the source of this money?" she shrieked.
Cheryl thought that even if Donald was willing to teach Zoe everything he knew, pouring out all his talent and knowledge, there was no way he could have helped her make a 3 billion profit.
'Even Donald himself couldn't have come up with such a business plan. Could Zoe have written this entire proposal on her own?' she wondered.
Cheryl Evans simply refused to accept this fact. In fact, no one present could accept it.
"How is this possible?" As soon as the results were announced, Eunice collapsed to the ground, unable to say another word.
She kept repeating the same phrase over and over again. "This is impossible."
'Something must have gone wrong. Yes, that's it. There has to be a mistake. There's no way Zoe could be that good,' she thought.
But then a thought suddenly crossed Eunice's mind. Maybe it was true. Zoe did have that kind of talent, and she simply couldn't compete with her.
The thought consumed Eunice, leaving her feeling utterly defeated.
At that moment, several people walked in from outside. The leader was a gentle-looking man wearing gold-rimmed glasses. The man looked shrewd and capable. As soon as he entered the door, he asked everyone present, "Excuse me. Who is Zoe Evans?"
The whole class was silent. No one spoke, but all eyes turned to Zoe. The answer was self-evident.
"Well, I'm the counselor sent from Eminence Nexus. My name is Faron Colbert. I'm specifically responsible for Eminence Nexus's admissions in Southeast Emoreland." Faron, who claimed to be a counselor, first introduced himself in front of everyone present.
Then, he fixed his eyes on Zoe and extended an invitation to her. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Zoe. You won first place in the Youth Entrepreneurship Competition with your outstanding performance."
"Now, you have also passed our Eminence Nexus assessment, so I'm here to officially invite you to join Eminence Nexus," he offered.
Faron's words were like a huge time bomb that exploded in the crowd.
Eminence Nexus was a level and status beyond compare. Even Vice-Principal Zack of Highcrest University had only recently been named a candidate for Eminence Nexus, and he had been using that title to flaunt his authority and act all high and mighty.
Zoe had been directly invited to become an official member of Eminence Nexus. She'd be a girl genius in Eminence Nexus. That was bound to set a new historical record.
All the students present couldn't help but scream with envy.
"God! Someone from Eminence Nexus is really here!"
"At this point, it doesn't matter if Zoe really won with her own strength. Even if she got in by luck, I'm still envious and jealous. I want to enter Eminence Nexus, too!"
"Stop dreaming. You're not worthy."
As the crowd showered Zoe with praise, Eunice's eyes turned red. She watched Zoe, who had been invited to Eminence Nexus, with envy and despair, as though a bucket of ice water had been poured over her.
Zoe was going to enter Eminence Nexus. From now on, everyone in the Evans residence would revolve around Zoe.
Zoe would earn titles like the wealthy girl from Jelonsburg and the stunning beauty of Highcrest University.
Ever since they were children, Zoe had always been more beautiful. Eunice knew she had lost. It was over for her. She collapsed to the ground, defeated, like a lifeless heap.
Thankfully, no one was paying attention to her at that moment. Everyone's eyes were glued to Zoe, filled with envy.
However, Mandy, who stood beside Zoe, offered her sincere congratulations. "Zoe, this is fantastic! You can finally join Eminence Nexus."
At that, Faron raised an eyebrow. He knew that no one could resist the allure of Eminence Nexus.
Just as Faron and everyone else present believed that Zoe would be eternally grateful to join Eminence Nexus, they heard her utter a straightforward refusal. "I decline," she said.
She was the true ruler of Eminence Nexus, and the entire organization was hers. She would never need to return as a member of the lowest rank. If those old geezers found out, they'd be so shocked that they'd probably wished death upon themselves.
