"But it was this same man who once wooed me with sweet nothings, vowing I was his one and only, swearing he'd never let me down and that we'd grow old together," she thought bitterly.
Looking back now, Sophia couldn't believe how blind she'd been—to ever think Matthew was a decent, dependable man, she thought bitterly.
"God, how stupid I was—pouring my heart and soul into him," Sophia thought bitterly.
"I thought he was my salvation, my rock," Sophia thought bitterly.
To them, I was just a laughingstock, a walking blood bank, a disposable pawn, Sophia thought bitterly.
Sophia let out a cold, bitter laugh.
What bitter irony!
"Sophia, oh Sophia, what a fool I've been," she thought bitterly.
"Sophia, happy now? This what you wanted? Go draw blood for me," Matthew snapped.
Sophia shot them a look of utter contempt and sneered, "Satisfied? Did I ever state my terms? Marry you? Matthew, do you think you're made of gold? Stop acting like you're some kind of prize. You want my blood for her? Fine. Transfer forty-two million dollars to my account right now, and I'll go draw blood without another word."
"What?! Forty-two million dollars! Sophia, have you lost your damn mind? Why don't you just go rob a bank? Forty-two million? In your dreams!" Lily shrieked.
Before Matthew could respond, Lily was already flying into a rage.
Lily was absolutely livid—her blood was boiling. She couldn't believe Sophia could be so insatiably greedy, making such an outrageous demand!
Three hundred million! What a goddamn joke.
"Why doesn't she just rob a bank? They might not even have that much cash!" Lily fumed.
Sophia's face remained icy as she fired back, "So even you know you're just dreaming!"
"You!" Lily shot her a furious glare.
Matthew couldn't help but think Sophia was being utterly unreasonable and immature. She used to comply with just a word from him, but now she was constantly making things difficult for him. The way she acted now truly left him feeling cold.
Matthew rubbed his temples in irritation. "Sophia, this will only disgust me even more. Stop this nonsense, will you?"
Sophia scoffed bitterly—this shameless couple had actually driven her to laugh in sheer exasperation. Sometimes, when you're left utterly speechless, all you can do is laugh.
"Stop your delusions!" Sophia snapped, her voice dripping with contempt. "If you can't cough up forty-two million and get down on your knees to beg, then shut your mouth. Otherwise, you won't get a single drop of my blood today. Lily, let's see if you survive tomorrow without it!"
"You!"
Lily and Matthew gaped at this unrecognizable Sophia, utterly stunned.
Lily noticed Matthew staring at her, utterly captivated. She bit her lip.
"That scheming bitch Sophia—she's changed so much, all just to seduce Matthew," Lily seethed inwardly.
"Shameless bitch!" Lily seethed.
Lulu burst in and snapped, "Sophia! Finally, you're here. Move it—come with me now. We're drawing blood immediately!"
Lily's older sister, Lulu, stormed in and made a beeline for Sophia, grabbing her by the wrist to drag her off for a blood draw.
Sophia jerked her arm out of Lulu's grasp and snapped, "Not happening."
Lulu exploded, her voice booming through the room.
"What?! You're not going?!" Lulu bellowed, her face contorted in rage.
Sophia didn't flinch at all—she wasn't alone anymore. She had family now, and her sister had returned.
Sophia snapped back defiantly, "That's right, I'm not going. If your ears aren't working, I'd be happy to cut them off and throw them to the dogs."
"Did you just insult me?" Lulu gaped in disbelief.
Lulu stared, utterly dumbfounded, at the girl in front of her—the one who had always seemed so pure and innocent.
Lulu couldn't believe it. This was the same girl who used to be so timid and polite around her—always doing whatever she was told, never daring to talk back, never even raising her voice, no matter how badly she was treated.
"How dare she insult me now!" Lulu thought, stunned.
Lulu was never one for manners. Seizing the moment when Sophia was distracted, she swung her hand and slapped her hard across the face.
The sharp crack of the slap plunged the entire ward into a stunned silence.
