Lisa quirked an eyebrow and quickly let go, a smug smile tugging at her lips.
With a smug smirk, Lisa said, "Oops, that was totally accidental. But since you love this dress so much, Sophia, I'm sure you'll buy it anyway, right?"
Sophia clenched her fists, burning with rage. "They're really going too far!"
Maggie sneered, "Come on, Lisa, she's got an exclusive black card. Do you really think she needs us to worry about pocket change?"
Sophia said through gritted teeth, "You two have gone way too far! I don't want this dress anymore!"
The manager's face fell. "What? You're refusing to pay? That's unacceptable! The dress was damaged while in your possession—you must compensate for it!"
The sales assistant said honestly, "Manager, Lisa was the one who tore the dress. Sophia's not responsible."
Lisa pointed at the sales assistant defiantly, her face twisted in irritation.
"What do you mean I tore it? I just wanted a look! If she hadn't been yanking it so hard, would the dress have ripped? Think I'll be your scapegoat? Dream on!"
Sophia was shaking with fury, fully aware that these two were deliberately targeting her just to humiliate her.
Sophia glared at Lisa and snapped, "Lisa, you're utterly shameless! Isn't it obvious you're into Matthew? If you like him so much, go chase after him yourself! But let's face it—even if you throw yourself at him, he'd never want someone like you."
At Sophia's words, Lisa's temper snapped—she was instantly furious.
Lisa exploded, "You! Sophia, how dare you talk to me like that! I'll beat you to a pulp!"
With that, Lisa swung her palm wildly and lunged at Sophia.
Sophia swiftly dodged, evading Lisa's attack.
Lisa stumbled forward and crashed face-first onto the floor with a heavy thud, limbs flailing helplessly.
Lisa shrieked, "Sophia, you bitch! How dare you dodge me!"
Maggie thought to herself, "I'm standing up for my friend—so what if I slapped Sophia today? I bet she wouldn't dare make a fuss about it. She's got no background, no one to back her up—does she really think she can take us on?"
Maggie's swinging hand was intercepted mid-air by a firm grip.
Maggie whipped around and snapped, "Who the hell?"
Maggie whipped around and found herself face-to-face with a breathtakingly gorgeous woman—coldly exquisite, her eyes sharp as blades. The sheer force of her presence was overwhelming; just one glance sent waves of murderous intent radiating through the air, making Maggie's blood run cold. It was terrifying.
She was shocked to feel such a bone-chilling, suffocating pressure emanating from another woman.
"Who... who are you? You..."
Maggie, still caught in a single-handed grip, was nearly flung through the air before crashing heavily to the floor.
Skye approached Sophia with concern and asked, "Are you hurt, Sophia?"
Seeing my sister approach, an inexplicable sense of grievance welled up inside me. "This is the first time in ten years that someone has asked if I'm hurt," I thought.
Sophia shook her head and flashed her sister a bright, unguarded smile.
Sophia forced a small smile and said to her sister, "I'm fine, Sis. It's just that Lisa and Maggie ruined my dress, that's all."
Maggie and Lisa both stared at Skye in shock. "Who the hell is she?"
Skye pulled out her phone and sent a brief message. Within moments, Lauren strode in.
Skye turned to Lauren and ordered, "Call the police. Make sure Lisa and Maggie, along with the damaged dress, are included—demand full compensation from them."
The moment they heard "call the police," the two instantly panicked.
Maggie snapped, "Who the hell are you? Why should we have to pay? This has nothing to do with us!"
Skye said coldly, "Remember to back up the surveillance footage—we'll post it online later."
Lisa and Maggie blurted out in unison, "What?!"
Panic flashed across Lisa and Maggie's faces, their earlier bravado crumbling in an instant.
Lisa and Maggie blurted out together, their voices tinged with panic and defiance: "Who the hell are you? What's your relationship with Sophia? Do you even know who we are?"
Before Skye could say a word, a group of people strode over. The moment the manager recognized the senior executives—Mr. Lee and Mr. Brown—he immediately bowed and scraped.
"Mr. Lee, Mr. Brown! What brings you here?"
Ignoring him completely, Mr. Lee and Mr. Brown walked straight up to Skye.
Bowing deeply, they said respectfully, "Ms. Sky, we sincerely apologize for your unsatisfactory shopping experience. As our humble apology, everything in the store is on the house today—we hope this can make amends."
Not only were Lisa and Maggie stunned, but even Sophia gaped at her own sister in utter disbelief.
"Who... who is she really?" I thought in disbelief. "What kind of status does she have..."
"How... how can she command such respect from people like Mr. Lee and Mr. Brown?" I wondered in shock. "Just who is my sister?"
Mr. Brown, Maggie's uncle, glared fiercely at her and barked, "What are you waiting for? Apologize to Ms. Sky this instant!"
Maggie started, "But... Uncle, I..."
Skye shot Lauren a look, and she instantly understood.
The police are here. You'll need to come with them now—the court summons will follow shortly.
Maggie was thrown into a panic as she realized the situation had spiraled completely out of control.
Terrified, Maggie cast a desperate, pleading look at her uncle, Mr. Brown.
Her uncle shot her a warning look that clearly said, "Apologize now unless you want to face serious consequences."
Maggie's earlier bravado vanished as she reluctantly bowed in apology.
"M-Ms. Sky... I'm so sorry, so sorry! Please, please forgive me!"
Lisa's heart lurched as if she'd been betrayed, and she jabbed a finger at Maggie.
Lisa jabbed a finger at Maggie, her voice trembling with anger and disbelief. She stammered, "You... you... you!"
Lisa came from a new money family. With a bit of cash to throw around, she acted all high and mighty—loud, bossy, and completely unreasonable.
But when it came down to it, the Greens couldn't hold a candle to the Browns.
Lisa knew when to cut her losses. Realizing the situation had turned against her, she quickly bowed her head and admitted her mistake.
"I'm sorry. It was my fault," Lisa muttered.
Forgiveness was the last thing on Skye's mind.
"Officers, please handle these two. They committed unprovoked assault and attempted theft. I was willing to settle this privately, but they clearly have no interest in cooperating."
With that, Maggie's uncle, Mr. Brown, immediately grasped the implication. He strode over and delivered a sharp slap to her face.
"You worthless brat! Apologize to Ms. Sophia this instant!"
The slap knocked all the fight out of Maggie.
But having to apologize to that bitch Sophia was still humiliating—she chafed at being forced to submit.
Lisa gritted her teeth. "There's no way I'm getting arrested," she thought desperately.
Lisa muttered through gritted teeth, "I'm sorry, Sophia. We shouldn't have deliberately targeted you. Please, please forgive me. I'll pay for the dress I tore. I... I'm really sorry."
Maggie pleaded, her voice trembling, "Sophia, for the sake of us being classmates, please forgive us this once. I promise it won't happen again. Please."
Skye turned to Sophia, waiting for her decision.
Sophia was stunned to see Lisa and Maggie groveling before her, apologizing so humbly.
Sophia thought in awe, "My sister is incredible! She managed to make them... with just a few words."
Not wanting her sister to get dragged into any feuds because of her, Sophia let Lisa and Maggie go after they paid double compensation.
Skye felt a surge of resentment—she wasn't about to let them off so easily. "If I hadn't arrived in time, that slap would have landed right on Sophia's face," she thought coldly.
At the thought, a barely perceptible cold glint flashed in Skye's eyes.
Skye said coolly, "A private settlement isn't just about an apology. Paying for the dress is your responsibility. Since my sister was frightened, I expect you two shall pay emotional distress compensation."
Skye didn't need the money, nor did she care about such petty compensation. But letting them off so easily? That wasn't her style at all.
But since Sophia chose to let it go, Skye said no more.
In the end, both of them tearfully handed over $70,000 each as an apology before being allowed to leave—they couldn't risk trending on social media and facing public humiliation.
The manager was also reassigned as a consequence.
Skye sat on the sofa, legs elegantly crossed, her hair cascading gracefully. She idly toyed with her phone, her slender, porcelain-like fingers moving with effortless grace.
Sophia tried on outfit after outfit.
Finally, with a sweeping gesture, Skye commanded, "Pack everything up and send it to this address."
Sophia quickly waved her hands in protest. "No, no, Sis, I can't wear so many clothes, and these handbags, I—"
Before Sophia could finish, Skye cut in with a grin, "Relax, your big sis is loaded."
"But I..." Sophia protested weakly, her voice trailing off.
It was the first time Sophia had spent millions of dollars in just a few hours—her heart was still pounding fiercely in her chest.
Her father snapped over the phone, "You little brat! Tonight's Linda's birthday—you'd better get home, or I'll burn everything in your room!"
Sophia clenched her fists as a wave of bitterness and resentment welled up inside her. "After all these years... shouldn't I be used to this by now?" she thought miserably.
Just give in and keep my head down—maybe that way, things will stay peaceful. I don't want to drag anyone else into this.
Skye stood beside her, catching every word of the phone call.
In my memory, Father Richard was always a pushover, while my mother ruled the household with an iron fist—ninety percent of the family fortune came from her side.
Frankly, the only reason Richard married her was thanks to his strikingly androgynous good looks.
