LUCA POV
The sun hits my eyes and blinds me as I woke up to the loud sound of someone banging on wood and my head starts to pound along with every muscle and bone in my body.
"Bloody hell,"
I groan as I feel the massive bump on my head from the other night and sit up, finding myself in just a pair of boxers that weren't mine and a series of tan bandages on various spots of my body along with my foot which was so swollen it almost didn't look mine.
Flashes of last night run through my mind all at once, making the pounding worse and I looked over to find a small tray next to me on the empty bed of the guest room. A glass of water and some painkillers rested on it along with a small note that read 'don't try to get up by yourself'.
I gulped down three of the extra strength Tylenol and laid back for a few moments. The slamming outside the bedroom door wasn't helping my headache along with the flashbacks as I try to piece together what the fuck happened last night.
I remember I fell asleep in Matthias' arms.
Then I woke up in the field with Matthias pinning me to the ground and telling me not to move because there was a wolf beside us.
Thomas and Matthias were taking care of me and talking about something but I was so confused and tired that I barely heard them.
I somehow ended up in a shower with Matthias and kissed him.
Now I'm here.
And absolutely nothing was making sense.
"What the fuck is that banging!"
I called out to no relief and rolled over on the bed to the edge, standing on my left foot and hopping over to the doorway. I attempted to put pressure on my right foot but the shooting pain sent stars to my vision and I nearly fainted. Once the pain subsided to a dull ache, I slowly slid open the barn style door and found the cause of the noise.
Right outside the guest room, I could see the entryway where three women were currently putting in a new front door. Drilling in multiple deadbolts and locks as they did so. Thomas watched them as they worked with his arms crossed, sipping from a white coffee mug in dark jeans and a dark gray sweatshirt.
As the bedroom door banged against it's stopper, Thomas turned his head and saw me standing there. A flash of concern written all over his face as he approached me.
"What are you doing up? You should be putting your foot up," He tells me but I ignore him, pointing to the front door.
"What happened? Did someone break in? Why are all these people here? Where's Matthias?" I had a million questions and I felt like I was going to have a mental breakdown if someone didn't answer at least one of them soon.
"One; you happened, two; no, three; they're here to fix the door and as soon as they're done I'm taking you to the hospital so we can get your foot checked out, Four; he went to go drop Jayde off at school and then he has a doctor's appointment for the baby,"
Thomas answered all my questions in a calm manner and I felt my own nerves cooling down to some degree. While I was taking in a breath he bends down and picks me up in both his arms, carrying me the five steps to the bed before dropping me.
"Sorry love, I don't like seeing you on that foot and It'll hurt if you try stepping on it. Don't worry, the door people will be done soon enough and we can go get that looked at," He reassures me, hovering over me with one hand in his pocket and the other on his mug of coffee as he takes a sip.
"You had another episode last night and I'm not going to lie to you Luca. It was really bad," He says and I felt my heart stop.
"Shit, I told you guys it was a bad idea for me to sleep here in this house with you, I told you I should just be on my own. We should just forget about this and I'll go back to being alone like I should have been all alo-"
"You're not going anywhere,"
Thomas snaps with full authority and I instantly stop blubbering around like the mess I am.
"Last night you ran out of bed, jumped off the banister to the living room, crashed through the glass front door, and ran into the middle of the field where you were almost attacked by a pack of wolves. Matthias, Houston, and I had to track you down and bring you back in," He filled in the large gap of my memory and I looked at all the bandages on my arms.
So these must be from the glass, which is why they're replacing the front door.
"I'm probably a lot more trouble than I'm worth huh?" I tried to joke but Thomas just shakes his head, pulling his hand out of his pocket and gently caressing my cheek with the pads of his fingertips.
"Luca, you scared the shit out of us. Imagine what would have happened if you were alone," He says and turns to put the mug down on the nightstand so he could caress both my cheeks with his warm hands.
"I don't even want to think about it, to be honest with you," He adds, gently running his hands through my silky smooth hair and he bends down. His lips alone making my heart skip a beat as I could almost feel his love and concern through his softest touch.
"I love you, I love you so much Luca and if anything were to happen to you...I wouldn't be able to forgive myself and I know Matty wouldn't be able to either," He sighs into my lips and I could feel my eyes water up.
My body physically incapable of handling this much love and affection. It was almost like I froze up, unsure of what to do next because I was so used to being abused and hated or alone and on my own. There was no precious in between like this.
"I'm sorry," I muttered beneath his touch and he kissed my forehead in response.
"It's not your fault hon. You never have to apologize for something you have no control over," He says and I held his warm hands in mine, closing my eyes to soak him in and intertwining our fingers.
"I love you," I told him, opening my eyes to meet his sweet brown ones and his serious face softens a bit.
"I love you too, which is why we're going to do everything we can to get you feeling better got it?" he says and I nod, but right now there was only one thing I could think of that would end my pain once and for all.
