THOMAS POV
"Do you know where we're going?"
Luca asked a very valid question as I turned into the LAX parking lot and followed the signs that read, 'private plane owners only'. We didn't own a private jet as far as I know, but with the Grayson family, it probably wasn't abnormal.
"Nope, I'm just going to keep following the signs and hope we make it to the right place," I tell him as he sits in the passenger seat with Matty still passed out in the rear and Jaydean quietly playing on her tablet in her booster seat. We pulled up to a large wrought iron gate and security walks up to the car as I roll down the window.
"ID and aircraft?" He asks and I give him my drivers license but he waits for me to answer the question.
"Um, Grayson," I confidently say even though I had no idea what plane we were supposed to be on. He gave me back my ID and waves me forward.
"Go ahead," He says and I gave him an appreciative nod before driving forward.
"Well, that was easier than I thought...oh," Luca points to the large light blue aircraft with the Grayson International Enterprises logo on its tail.
"I guess that's where we're going," I was still very unsure of everything, especially with Matthias passed out in the back. I now had to think through the logistics of how I was going to get my husband on this plane without it looking like I kidnapped him.
I pulled up beside the plane where a valet told me to park and got out to assess the situation. Suddenly extremely grateful for the sweet voice I instantly recognized coming from behind me.
"You guys are right on time," Mika says as he comes down the stairs leading into the aircraft.
"You don't even know how happy I am to see you," Luca says and Jaydean quickly hops out of the car.
"Halabojee! What are you doing here!" She squeals as she rushes into her grandfather's open arms. He quickly covers her face in little kisses and holds her close.
"I'm here for you sweetheart. We're going to take you to a doctor far away who's going to make you get better okay?" He explains to her and she wraps her arms around his shoulders with genuine love and affection.
"Where's Matty?" Mika asks and I point to the car.
"He fainted at the house but we wanted to get here as quickly as possible," I explained and he nodded.
"Yes of course, I'm glad you did. I took the next few weeks off work to be with you guys and to help you guys on the island. It's a new place completely different from America and it's easy to be overwhelmed but I think you'll be just fine," He explains with a gentle smile before bringing Jaydean up to the plane. Luca and I look at each other, unsure of how we were going to get Matty up those narrow stairs with my nonexistent legs and his weakened strength.
Two fit bodyguards come to the car with the wave of Mika's hand and they reach into the back seat. I open the trunk, letting Cooper and Houston out of the back seat while Luca watches over Matty. Eyeing the guards every move to ensure our baby gets on that plane safely.
***
After takeoff, Jaydean quickly falls asleep in the back room of the private jet and Matty was still fast asleep on the couch with a fuzzy gray blanket draped over him. Luca, Mika, and I sat around a small table talking quietly during the first hour.
"Now I'm concerned, he didn't hit his head or anything so why is he out for so long?" I said out loud to Luca and Mika who both turned towards our sleeping beauty.
"It's just the exhaustion from the pregnancy and the stress. It takes a lot out of your body to be pregnant with one child nevermind four and it's not like he's had a break ahem ahem, to bounce back," My father-in-law eyes me and I scoffed.
"Appa, only one of those things is my fault," I pointed out and he giggled a little.
"Aish, I'm only messing with you Thomas, take it easy." He sighs and Luca gently squeezed my knee.
"Look, I think he's waking up," he nods to Matty who was now stretching his small frame as far as it could go and cracks his back before opening his sweet hazel gray eyes. They instantly go wide with fear and confusion causing him to look like a deer in the headlights.
"Where am I?" He coughed as he sat up but Mika quickly rushed to his side.
"You're on the plane to Bridgeport Matty," He explained and I had never seen my husband so relieved, he slowly rubs his temples and groans.
"What the fuck happened? One moment I was yelling at you and the next I'm on a plane?" he asks only to be slapped in the back of the head by his Appa with a loud clap that causes Luca and I to wince through our teeth.
"You passed out from exhaustion and stress you fool. What do you think you're doing? Yelling at your husbands who were only trying to help you and getting yourself all worked up. It's not good for you to stress yourself out like that and you know it! You're just like your father!" Mika yells at his son who now rubs the back of his head in pain.
"Appa, my little girl was just diagnosed with cancer, the world thinks my relationship is invalid, and my babies only have a twenty percent chance of surviving!" He yelled right back at him and Mika scrunched up his face in anger.
"Jaydean is on her way to the best hospital in the world, who gives a shit as to what the world thinks of your relationship, and if life and death were calculated by chances, you wouldn't be here! You and your sister were born so early that you only had a 15% chance of surviving if that. You spent almost five months in the hospital before I could finally take both of you home! You beat the odds and these babies are going to be fighters just like you as long as you take care of yourself, which I'm going to make sure of from here on out, you hear me, Matthias? Jaydean, Mika, Nakoa, Rumi, and Novalee are going to make it because they're a part of you. When you were a baby you fell but you always picked yourself up and I've watched Jayde do the same thing and I'm sure these babies will use that skill embedded in their DNA to push through. So calm down because I already lost one son, I'm not about to lose another,"
Mika's speech has me in tears because it was all the words Matty needed to hear. The words Luca and I tell him every day but he would never believe us.
To hear it coming from his father was a different story.
