                    *LUCA POV*
The sparkling sun shines in my eyes as we exited the landing strip and the king waved us through what could have been hours in customs. Lines were long but efficient as men, women, and children of all ages, colors, religions, and genders waited for their visas.
"Why are there so many people waiting to come in?" Thomas asked the question we were both thinking as I shifted little Jaydean on my hip.
"Bridgeport is a safe asylum country. Our ancestors built this country for refugees who had nowhere else to go and we've kept it that way since. We open our doors to all who seek shelter, which is why we are secretly number one in top innovations and technologies," King Finley explains for us.
We made it to a special booth where two agents quickly bowed when they see their king. One agent held a small device that looks like a flat metal panel attached to a cell phone while the other held a metal case holding three syringes. I cast my gaze upon them nervously as one of the agents slipped on a plastic glove and the King spoke to them in their native tongue.
The agent with the strange device held it up to the king's wrist and it beeped, letting him pass. Next, he held it up to Matthias and Mika's wrists, both beeping the same way.
"Oh shit," Matthias cursed under his breath as if he realized something we didn't and laughed.
"Please hold out your right wrist," The agent asked and I do only to be stabbed within seconds of her doing so. She moved to the side and did the same to Thomas, before getting down on her knees to meet Jaydean.
"Look up for me sweetie," She said, pointing towards the sky and Jayde did just that, not even noticing the small needle pricking her skin after the woman sprayed some kind of numbing agent before shooting a metal pill-shaped device into my daughter's skin. They must only do that for children so they don't freak out or something.
"Good, the assimilation is complete. You are free to continue. Welcome to the Island of Bridgeport," The woman says with a voice that was a little too mechanical and a smile that was far too perfect before I reached the realization she wasn't human at all. She was an android.
"Would one of you mind telling us this was far?" I asked the group in front of us with a throbbing pain in my arm as we walked into the main airport.
"A chip of course. Here on Bridgeport, we don't use paper money or plastic ID's and credit cards because these things are dirty and can get lost very easily. We use chips instead and all of your accounts are tied to it. You pay for things and show your identification with the swipe of your wrist." Mika quickly explains and I felt completely foreign to the concept.
"If you were born here, you would have been given this chip in the hospital by a droid confirming your name. It's a ceremonial tradition here," King Finley explains and I'm too shocked for questions once we reached the outside.
"You can take the monorail to the hospital and Jamie will pick you up with my husband from there. Unfortunately, I could only spare a few minutes to mess around with you and make sure you got through customs as swiftly as possible, but I'll see you guys soon," the king says with a genuine smile as he pulls Matthias into a tight hug.
Finley whispers something into his ear that the rest of us couldn't hear and Matthias only nods in response, getting his hair ruffled a bit by the king as a last goodbye before he disappeared into a black car that had been waiting for him.
"Look daddies! Floating cars!" Jaydean drew our attention to a single rail above us where carts containing passengers were flowing past.
"That's not a floating car baby, it's a monorail. We're going to take it right now so you can meet your uncle Mari," Matthias corrects her, taking her little hand as he walks over to the station.
With the island still being an island, the shuttles seemed easy to navigate. Especially since all the maps were on touch screens that hovered about the station and changed languages with a single touch.
Suddenly the words on the billboard changed to English as well as the map.
"How did it know I spoke English?" I asked Mika and he giggled a little, touching the screen after me and I watched the letters shift to Korean.
"It reads your chip once you touch it and knows what language you speak," Mika explains and traced a line across the screen to the yellow shuttle.
"The yellow line will take us to Grayson Memorial and it has a nice view of the city too," Mika says and we follow the signs leading us to the yellow line which comes to the station only a few moments after we entered.
Once we got, we sat together in the very front where you could see the entire city lighting up below us. Jaydean pressed her face against the glass as she stared at all the marvelous new sights while like I had just stepped foot into another dimension.
A single building was in the center of it all, with glowing lights and the sign that read 'Grayson International Enterprises' in large capital letters.
"Does your family own the entire island or something?" Thomas asked, but I already knew the answer to that question after two years of being forced to study the Grayson family and their ways back when I was a double agent. Working with the crown but against them as I secretly supported the prime minister.
"No, although it certainly does seem like it," Mika chuckles the monorail sails over the massive building and lands at Grayson Memorial Hospital.
"Papa, I'm so tired," Jaydean whines as she tugs at the sleeve of my sweatshirt. I quickly move to pick her up as we exit the monorail and I clutch her close to my chest.
"We're almost done sweetheart, okay? We just need to get you checked out and then you can go to sleep," I coo as I pressed her head to my shoulder, knowing she was too tired to walk.
"Okay Papa," She yawned as we entered the hospital and were instantly asked to scan our chips at the front desk. We all did as I asked of us and once I scanned Jaydean's chip the receptionist stood up and quickly bowed.
"My appologies, the file didn't say you were of such close relation to the Grayson family until the dutchess Jaydean's name appeared," The woman pleaded with her hands clasped tightly together as if we were going to hurt her.
"No harm was done, please show us to Dr. Caspian," Mika requested and the woman stood up straight again, quickly nodding.
"Of course Mr. Grayson, the android will show you to his office. He cleared his schedule to be with you today," She said and a small metal trashcan on wheels rolled in front of us. The thing beeped twice before rolling towards a heavy set of doors.
"Thank you m'am," Thomas told her as we continued walking towards the door.
"Why did she call Jaydean a duchess?" I asked Mika as we followed the little robot to our destination.
"Because she is," Mika eyed Matthias as he said this and my fiance shrugged.
"I never thought they would come here so I didn't think it would be important to explain," He nervously chuckled and I smacked his shoulder.
"Explain!" I demanded until Thomas stumbled and nearly fell. Matty quickly held out his arms to steady him but Thomas shrugged him off.
"I'm fine," he grunted as he continued walking, now dragging his feet on the floor and almost falling again. This time Matthias forced his arm around him and pulled him close.
"Daddy? Are you okay?" Jaydean tapped on her father's shoulder and Thomas took her little hand and kissed it.
"I'm okay nugget," He reassured her, standing up a little straighter than before to prove to her he was going to be okay.
"Thomas, how much sleep have you gotten?" Matthias asked and Thomas closed his eyes, slowly stumbling to push himself forward.
"Don't worry about me guys, please. Let's just focus on Jaydean," He pleads. Matthias and I look at each other, knowing at any moment our lover could pass out from exhaustion.
"We're almost there baby," Matthias nudges Thomas with his head, gently kissing his cheek as we make it to the door that read 'Doctor Marius Nozomi Grayson-Caspian'.
"Hold on hon," I whispered to Thomas and took his hand in mine, giving it a tight squeeze as we entered the office.
