                    *MATTY POV*
"What do you mean your son? You guys are like the same age,"
I pointed out as I watched this fool clutching my fiance like he was his and I felt a small twinge of over-protectiveness mixed with jealousy. Because if Kaeden knew Luca before we knew Luca...then he might know him better than we do.
"Well, we're not actually related, I meant to say he's like a son to me. I practically raised this guy for three years when he was recovering. When we first came into contact he was emotionless and empty, now look at you! You look so healthy and beautiful!" Kaeden comments and Luca wipes the happy tears from his eyes.
"My dear protege, we must catch up," Kaeden wipes his own tears and Thomas clears his throat, finally breaking apart the two who were getting a little too close for comfort. Mentor or not, no one gets that close to our fragile Luca.
"Well, there's almost too much to say Kae," Luca giggles as he scratches the back of his head and looks over at me with a wide smile as I rock our little Jayde in my arms.
"I finally have a family to call my own and now I know what love really is," Luca states and it was so sweet and heartfelt that I let my jealousy go. He wasn't leaving us anytime soon and certainly not my cousin in law.
Thomas wraps his arm around Luca's waist in a small comforting motion and Kaeden turns to me.
"I see, It's so nice to know that you're alive and clearly doing well," Kaeden sighs and comes over to me. Kissing me on the cheek in true Alohowa fashion as you do so when you see a family member and peeks over my shoulder at the sleeping Jaydean.
"Oh, she's so perfect and beautiful. You must have a hard time keeping other little ones who have a crush on her in line. I'm going through something similar with my own daughter," Kaeden chuckles as he pushes a loose strand of Jaydean's red hair behind her ear so he could get a good look at her face.
"Yeah, right now we just have problems with some kid she likes named Hasan but she's got her mother's attitude that lets everyone know their place," Luca says and gently pinches the tip of our daughter's little-pointed nose which was similar to his own.
She swats his hand away and growls, narrowing her beautiful blue eyes at her Papa.
"You know I hate it when you do that," Jaydean mutters and Luca only smirks.
"How are you feeling nugget?" He asked her and we waited for her response as she yawned and snuggled up on my lap, cradling her tiny arms around my neck as she burried her head against my chest.
"I just want to sleep with mommy," She huffs and closes her eyes again. I had never seen my baby this tired but I knew she had a rough past few days.
"Okay baby, we'll leave you alone," Thomas whispers and I rocked my first baby back and forth. Kaeden backs away with a look of pride on his face as he sits on the edge of the coffee table.
"She looks just like you when you were younger, with just a touch of Luca," Mari chuckles as they all start to crowd around the L shaped couch. I pull my baby just a little closer, feeling overprotective of my greatest accomplishment.
"Yeah, she kind of does," I whispered as I pecked the top of my daughter's forehead and a little sigh left her parted lips.
"Wow, I'm so proud of you Luca. When we first met, I have to admit that I never imagined this would be in your future," Kaeden comments and Luca blushes again, never able to take a compliment.
"I didn't think so either," He shrugged, reaching over from the back of the couch and gently rubbing my shoulders.
"Why not?" Thomas asked the question we both had on our mind and Kaeden sighed.
"Because when I first met Luca he could barely speak, he didn't know how to read or write, his skin was so pale and he was so thin that you would think he was a ghost, he didn't grasp the concept of trust for about a year, and he was given a different name," Kaeden explains and I looked up at our beautiful Luca, his light blue eyes held something different in their mist and his hands tightened on my shoulders.
"With all due respect, I think that's quite enough Kaeden," Luca suddenly became extremely serious, as he always does when someone attempts to bring up his past. Cooper suddenly starts barking and Luca shakes his head, taking his hands off my shoulders to calm his service dog.
If I wasn't holding Jaydean, I would have rushed to comfort him but I couldn't move let alone stand. Kaeden catches his drift and nods, kneading his hands together as he does.
"Ah, I suppose you're right. Let's let the past stay in the past huh?" Kaeden's smile fades to one of pity and I swear to god if he was just my cousin in law and not the king's fucking husband I would have spit on him and told him to leave. My Luca has been through so much shit that he doesn't deserve pity, only pride.
"Well, I think we should leave you guys alone now and let you settle in. I'll be back, later on, this week to check on Jaydean. You have my number so text me if you have any concerns," Mari suggests and for once, I was thankful for my cousin's sudden decision to leave.
Once they left, Luca sat down beside me, letting Coop rest his head on his lap as he ran his hands through his dog's golden fur. Even Houston looked on edge, standing guard by one of the open doors and barking at the smallest bird that flew past.
"Sorry for being rude, I just...I don't want you guys to know what happened to me," He clearly states for the first time, letting out a long breath I didn't know he was holding. Thomas now takes a seat on the edge of the coffee table and places his hand on Luca's knee while I wrap my arm around his shoulders.
"I guess I'm just scared that if you knew, you wouldn't want me anymore...and I don't think I can live without you two anymore," Luca gulps and I leaned over, gently kissing his cheek.
"You know that's impossible sweetheart, we couldn't stop loving you if we tried," Thomas smiled as he intertwined one of his hands with Luca's.
"Whether you want to tell us or not will always be up to you, but one thing is for certain and that's the fact that we made a promise to love you for the rest of our lives together. Our love is so strong that whatever happened before could never change our opinion of you" I told him honestly though my opened heart and he furrowed his brows.
"Wow, that was really sappy coming from you," He chuckled and I nuzzled our heads together.
"I can be sappy as fuck when you need me to be, just wait until you hear my vows. I guarantee I'll have you both in tears," I told him and he giggled further, turning his head to meet my lips with a soft peck.
"I think being a mommy has made his soft," Thomas whispers to Luca as if I couldn't hear him and I gave him a hard kick.
"It has not! I've just grown older and wiser," I huffed and puffed out my chest like a dramatic snob.
"Matthias, you're only twenty-two," Luca brings me back to earth and I roll my eyes.
"Well, what do we do now?" Thomas asks and the three of us looked out to the bright blue oceans and the sunset which was so beautiful that if you had taken a picture of it, I would have thought you were lying.
"I guess we settle in,"
