                    *MATTY POV*
"Which one do you want to see first?"
Thomas asked me as I laid in my hospital bed, now recovering from the surgery but unable to rest until my little ones were in my arms.
"I want to hold all of them," I tiredly told him, wanting to have and hold all my little ones on my shirtless chest.
"Matty, you're still recovering and it's not safe for you to hold all of them, how about I give you two?" Thomas compromises and I was too tired to argue so I stuck with my pout instead.
I looked over at the wide plastic bassinette where all four of my newborn babies were lying down with Novalee and Nakoa fast asleep while Rumi and Mika-Ji were wide awake and looking at all the lights.
"You guys hear that? Your daddy's trying to keep you from me," I told on him to our babies and little Mika's head turned when heard my voice.
"He's trying to make me choose like you guys are a litter of puppies," I added and Thomas crossed his arms.
"I could keep them all to myself and not let you see any of them," He threatens and I narrow my eyes at him.
"You wouldn't dare," I growled, feeling overly protective of my tiny babies and he glared right back at me.
"Try me," He grunts and I wanted to hit him but was too weak.
"Matthias please, you heard what the doctor said. You can only hold two at a time. We have all the time in the world to wrangle all four together," Luca tiredly whispers from the couch as he 'rests his eyes' while still listening to our conversations.
"Fine, give me Mika-Ji," I finally settle, feeling like I'm choosing favorites from the deck but Mika was so tiny compared to the others that he needs the most love.
"The Mika special? Excellent choice, I'll prepare that for you right away," Thomas says like he's a chef about to cook up some fancy cuisine and I roll my eyes. He takes the tiniest bundle from the bassinette and cradles our little one until Mika-Ji's finally rested in my arms.
"Hey baby, did you have a good nap? Look now your siblings can't take all the nutrients from you anymore," I told him. Even though he's not exactly a boy or a girl, Luca, Thomas, and I had decided to use male pronouns with Mika-Ji and to raise him and the quad squad without 'gender norms' so to speak. If he wants to switch when he's older and be a she than that would be perfectly fine too. I don't care what gender he chooses as long as he's happy and healthy.
Mika-Ji Hakeem Jackson was just shy of 4lbs, weighing just 3lbs and 14 oz [1.7 kg], the only baby to have fair skin with a tiny poof of light brown hair pointed upwards. I decided to add the Ji to his Korean name because Mika means flower and Ji means wisdom, so Mika-Ji was a flower of wisdom. The name was also not to be confused with my Appa and we could call him MJ if we wanted to. I liked it because I felt like the three syllables rolled off my tongue with ease.
Mika-Ji closed his little eyes as soon as he was placed on my shoulder and scrunched up his little body like he was a frog, preferring that position more than anything else, as if he could get any smaller.
"They're all so freaking cute," Thomas sighs and I rolled my eyes.
"Well no duh, don't you know I only produce adorable babies?" I told him and he chuckled. Picking up Novalee and bringing her to me. My second little girl in the mix, she was bundled up and brought to my chest next. I knew both Nova and MJ were going to be my little sweethearts from when they were womb-mates, unlike their brothers who would have bangers in my belly at four in the morning.
"My little star, oh my god I love you two so much," I whispered to the little ones as I kissed the tops of their heads. Novalee Kiana Jackson was a full 5lbs 10oz [2.5 kg] and was one of the prettiest little babies I had ever seen and that's not even because I'm biased. It's just facts.
She had naturally tan skin with big brown doe eyes that were light now so I hoped they stayed light as she got older. We wouldn't know any of the little ones' true eye colors until they were at least six months old. But little Nova has the cutest chipmunk cheeks and a full head of soft black curls that made me giggle with delight just by touching them.
I nestled my nose in my Nova's soft curls and took in her fresh baby scent with every whiff as I relaxed with two of my four babies, meeting them for the first time since the delivery room and enjoying every moment.
I gently nudged little Mika to the side and looked at Thomas, knowing I had room on my chest for another one, he finally caves. He hands me Nakoa next and I sit up a bit in anticipation as my son comes to rest on his mommy for the first time.
"Hey baby, you taking a little nap?" I asked him as his precious pink lips open in a little 'o' shape and an adorable yawn leaves his mouth. His head nuzzles into my collarbone and his light eyes which were already turning a shade of green, were soon only opened half-way.
Nakoa Thomas Jackson was also a beautiful little boy, weighing the same amount as his sister with slightly tanned skin and thick black waves on the top of his head forming a little mohawk. It was so cute to see how each baby carried Thomas and my genetics differently and I couldn't wait to see some of Luca's personality added into the mix as they grew older.
My little Koa had the biggest head out of all the babies and even though the doctors told me it was normal and he would grow into it I was still concerned cause he looks like a little bobblehead.
With Koa now well adjusted I gave Thomas another look, he shook his head in a no but I refused to take no for an answer. I tried to sit up all the way, letting out a small yelp from my surgery scars and now Luca was wide awake, watching as Thomas gently pushed me back down.
"Fine," He muttered under his breath and picked up my little Roo, sliding him on the pillow under my right arm as I supported my second son and held him close. Rumi Zahara Jackson suddenly stopped thrashing about his little arms as he heard my heart beating, the same heart he heard beating for the past nine months, with his head rested on my exposed chest. He even cooed a little with a content sigh and I craned my neck to kiss him too. My darkest baby with a head of tight black curls as he looked the most like his father so far.
Never in my life had I given more love than I did right now at this very moment as I held my babies in my arms for the first time. Making sure all their warm wiggly bodies were equally covered with a baby blanket and they were all nice and toasty on their mommy's chest.
It was so beautiful that I choked on my own tears and had to look up in an attempt to stop them from overflowing.
Luca slid onto the bed on the side with Mika-Ji and Nova while Thomas got onto the side with Roo and Koa, both of them wrapping their arms around me and the babies. Both of my husbands gently checking on each baby to make sure they were still breathing and rubbing all their little backs.
Even though we were missing one more little person from this equation, I had never felt more complete.
