When I woke up again days later, the news was everywhere—Thorne Nightfang had officially announced a partnership with the Lycan king, all based on the silver weapon I had designed.
It was no secret in the werewolf realm: the Nightfang Pack’s Alpha owed his dominance and crushed rogues because of the weapons his Luna had crafted.
It was those exceptional weapons that convinced the Lycans to work with Thorne in the first place.
On screen, Thorne faced reporters with a radiant smile.
"My Luna isn't feeling well and prefers to avoid public appearances."
The Lycan king looked disappointed. "We're hoping to meet the brilliant weapon artisan Professor Moonveil's daughter—your mate—at the signing ceremony."
A flash of discomfort crossed Thorne's features, but he quickly recovered with a smile.
"Don't worry. She'll definitely attend the contract signing."
"After all, this is a historic moment for both of us."
I clutched the patent agreement in my hands.
Its terms crystal clear: if Thorne and I broke the mate bond, he would unconditionally return all weapon designs to me.
In the medical wing, Thorne's eyes lit up genuinely when he saw I was awake.
"Liora, you're finally conscious. You scared the hell out of me.”
I forced out a few tears and asked:
"I dreamed we had a pup. Where is our pup? Thorne, where is our baby?"
Guilt flickered across his face before he gently comforted me.
"Your severe anemia... the pup couldn't be saved."
"But don't worry—I made a wish on the pearl, remember? We'll have both a son and a daughter together and remain bonded for life."
"So we'll definitely have pups again."
I clenched my fists. So this was why he felt entitled to destroy me so carelessly!
He killed my pup!
How dare he believed I'd still be waiting when he returned, ready to bear his pups and grow old together!
He handed me a glass of milk. "You've suffered so much lately. Amaris is kindhearted—she's agreed we can postpone our mating ceremony."
Cold fury swept through me.
Breaking the mate bond needed her apporval. Holding the ceremony still needed her apporval.
I shook my head slowly. "Thorne, losing this pup made me realize you and Amaris were right."
"Parents should prioritize their children's future—it's natural."
"If I were in her position, I wouldn't want my pup called a bastard either. So I agree to break the mate bond.”
"You're right that we'll end up mated anyway, so the process doesn't matter."
Thorne's face brightened with relief, then he asked tentatively.
"You've probably heard about my deal with the Lycan king. He values loyalty to the mate bond between mates.”
"So, the signing ceremony..."
I lifted my head with a bright smile. "Of course I'll be there. You're doing this to create better life for our future pups. I knew it."
“But the deadline is today—Let’s sign the bond-breaking deal now, so you and Amaris can seal your mate bond later without any complications.”
Overcome with excitement, Thorne pulled me into his arms.
"Liora, you're so understanding. I didn’t love the wrong person."
He eagerly rushed me to complete the bond-breaking deal, severing our mate bond completely.
Looking at the deal in my hands, I wept with joy.
Thorne mistook it for sorrow, smiling as he comforted me.
"Don't be sad. By this time next year at the latest, we'll rebond.”
"You don't even need to move out. Moonveil Manor will always have a room for you."
I swallowed my revulsion and nodded.
The moment he left, I vomited all over the floor.
That night, Amaris posted on her Instagram:
"Call me LUNA NOW."
The photo showed a bond-sealing deal. Though Thorne's face was obscured, I easily recognized his birthdate.
It was their bond-sealing deal—official and registered.
I laughed until tears streamed down my face.
Because Thorne's downfall had finally begun.
