The signing ceremony was a massive affair, hosted right here in Moonveil Manor's ballroom.
Crystal chandeliers lit up every corner while champagne towers glittered under the lights. Every detail showcased the importance of this signing ceremony.
The Lycan King had flown in personally. He stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing out over the whole territory view and marveled: "Alpha Thorne, this place is incredible. Built it all for your mate, huh?"
Thorne's arm snaked around my waist possessively, his wolf pride practically radiating off him.
"Yes, Liora loves the view from up high. Had to give my girl the best."
I felt the warmth of his palm against my waist—only made my sick.
This man who once made my heart race now made my skin crawl with every touch.
Fighting down my revulsion, I forced out a smile. "You're so kind."
The Lycan King turned to me, eyes full of appreciation. "Luna Liora, your mate's devotion to you is truly enviable. From the unique exterior to the interior details, everything seems to speak of his love for you."
"Yes," I thought bitterly, "even his cheating was arranged so 'thoughtfully.'"
But on the surface, I just nodded politely.
Media from across the territory had shown up. Cameras flashed nonstop. Everyone wanted the money shot of the "power couple."
"Alpha Thorne, what significance does this partnership hold for Nightfang Pack?" a reporter called out.
Thorne straightened, his alpha energy commanding the room. "This puts Nightfang Pack on the world stage..."
Standing beside him, watching him speak with such confidence, my thoughts drifted back two weeks ago.
That day I woke in the medical wing to learn our pup was gone.
And Thorne—my devoted mate—was in the next room comforting his Beta Amari—the mistress carrying his bastard.
"Babe?" Thorne's fingers brushed my elbow, pulling me back to reality. "Time for the signing."
I nodded and followed him to the signing table. We went through the motions—signatures, handshakes, photos. Throughout it all, I smiled like the perfect Luna while my wolf snarled inside.
The final segment was the press Q&A.
Most questions were softball business stuff. Thorne ate it up, occasionally shooting me those fake loving looks that once melted my heart.
Finally, we reached the question from my pre-arranged reporter.
"Luna Liora, what are your thoughts on Nightfang products expanding?"
The woman with black-rimmed glasses asked—our agreed signal.
The room fell silent, all eyes turning to me.
Thorne gazed at me lovingly, expecting my words to add the perfect finishing touch to this partnership. He even squeezed my hand gently, as if saying "Look how perfectly matched we are."
I took the microphone, my pulse hammering. Not from nerves—from pure anticipation of what was about to unfold.
"Thank you for the question," my voice rang clearly through the ballroom, "But you've got my name wrong. I'm not Luna anymore."
I paused, savoring the moment.
"Because Alpha Thorne and I have broken the mate bond."
