The words had barely left my mouth when glass exploded beside me.
Thorne went dead white. His champagne flute hit the floor, sending liquid splashing across his custom suit.
The room fell silent. Every wolf in the ballroom froze, trying to process what I'd just dropped on them.
In that eerie quiet, my voice cut through the tension like a silver blade.
"As for this partnership—I've hired lawyers. They'll be discussing patent infringement with Nightfang's legal team real soon."
All hell broke loose. Reporters swarmed like wolves scenting blood, cameras flashing like lightning. I could practically hear their wolves howling with excitement.
Thorne slammed his hand over my mouth, forcing a smile. "Hey everyone, let's just take a breath here."
His voice carried that commanding growl, but it was shaky. "My Luna has been through hell lately. Car accident, lost our pup—she's not thinking straight."
I watched his Oscar-worthy performance, wanting to laugh.
Tears actually welled up in his eyes. The bastard looked genuinely heartbroken.
"She blames herself for everything that happened. Her wolf's been... unstable." His claws dug into my wrist hard enough to bruise. "Cut her some slack, yeah?"
He leaned close, his breath hot against my ear. "Stop this shit, Liora."
The intimacy reminded me of him whispering to Amaris the same way at the hospital.
"The pearls, remember? I wished to be the richest alpha alive. Wished we'd be mated forever. Even if you torch this deal, nothing changes."
I jerked free from his grip, smiling sweetly. "Really?"
He nodded smugly, like he was doing me a favor. "Admit you're having a breakdown right now, and I'll forget this happened. Next year, you'll still be the Luna of the most powerful pack."
I rolled my eyes. "Whoops. Forgot to mention something important."
"The pearls stopped working the second you broke our mate bond and marked another woman."
Thorne's face went corpse-white. He grabbed my sleeve, voice shaking.
"NO! That's impossible. You're fucking lying."
I shrugged him off with a cold smile. "Wanna find out?"
Right on cue, my legal team walked in.
My lead attorney handed me the bond-breaking deal and patent transfer contracts.
I held both documents up to the cameras, making sure every lens got a clear shot.
"I'm not crazy. I'm not delusional." My voice rang clear and strong. "Thorne Nightfang and I break our mate bond two weeks ago."
The room exploded again. I saw the Lycan King's face darken, his Beta already speed-dialing damage control.
"The reason for our breaking—" I took a deep breath, feeling the weight finally lift off my chest. "He cheated with his Beta Amaris Emberhowl. Got her pregnant too."
