Dreams, that's what it seemed like, memories flashing through his mind in one sitting, it all happened to so fast. One by one, one for the other one, they all said something but what was the point of concentrating if they only went by in seconds
A white light, that's what appeared next, it was bright, it engulfed everything, couldn't see anything as everything was white, then some faint noises were heard, it was faint, muffled at first. It sounded like somebody was trying to scream through an extremely thick wall. It got louder and louder, as it was becoming more clear that it was someone calling him.
"Eren!"
His eyes shot open, bells rung loudly in the background. The first thing he saw was his mother and Mikasa staring down at him with concern.
"Are you alright?" Carla asked him, her hand resting on his forehead.
His expression was some sort of agape, like he had some sort of massive revelation shown to him. "What... what happened?"
"We're safe Eren, we are in Wall Rose now."
He sat up slowly, and looked to one side to see crowds of people all around. People in lines or groups itching to get something, expressions of melancholy, horror, or just a blank slate was all he could see. So they were all alive, fortunately, well, his father wasn't around, and trying to think about it made his head hurt.
"Eren, they're giving out rations, we should go." Mikasa said, waiting for him to respond.
He was barely coming to his senses, but sure, even though it didn't feel exactly the right thing to do by just being fed. He stood up and then looked to his mother, she was still in pain from her legs.
"Go, both of you need to eat, my legs can't support me just yet."
Then again, she needed to eat some food as well, maybe he could just split up his food and offer some of it to her. "We will be right back, mom."
They left their area, going through an opening from the shelter they were in, that was once a storage house for food, leaving their mother whom they could assume nothing wrong would happen right now.
People were eager to get some nourishment, starving especially after the events of just before. Wall Maria had been lost, and now everyone had to come here to Wall Rose. It was terrible, everyone was pushing to get on to the transport ships. People were fighting to escape to safety.
And now here they are, who knows how many people died on the day panther exact breakthrough. Then there was that shockwave, that shockwave when they were already far, just what was it.
Mikasa had been keeping watch of Eren as they walked through the makeshift markets and vendors packed with people receiving their distributions. She saw he was in that state again, where he's lost in some thought. She was going to say something whens he heard a familiar voice calling out to them.
"Eren! Mikasa!"
Both turned their heads up to see Armin running towards them with food in his arms. He was relieved to see that they were doing fine.
"Armin," he was glad to see Armin was fine, but his mind kept pounding and throbbing from what his little dream.
He stopped right before them and started handing them the rations. "Glad I made it in time!"
Mikasa had a simple smile on her face, responding to Armin's efforts, she said, "thank you."
And Eren hadn't said anything yet, other than simply have the food in his hand.
"My grandfather told them it was for the children." He said, well since it was the best way to get good for everyone else.
The small relief of having food washed away when they felt the presence of someone standing behind Armin. One of the soldiers of this wall who stared down at them with an agitated face, grunting at them before leaving.
This man had something, Eren turned to his friend and asked, "What's his problem?"
"Can't blame him, there is not enough food to hand out to everyone."
Eren looked down at the ration Armin had given him. Thinking about it, it took a lot just for thousands of people to get here, and to just cower behind the next walls, and feed to feel safe.
"There are too many refugees here, and not only that, there is a food shortage going-with the people of this wall not having respect for us, it's just not good." He explained.
Well that last part was more or less clear to Eren, these laid-back easy goers never had to deal upfront a fraction of what they had gone through, disgraceful.
Then at the same time, there were a group, well two at least, fighting over scraps, or perhaps who would get in line to receive their food, and behind them were Garrison troops, talking to each other, about what was going on in front of them.
"You think we hav'to give our food to these pests from the outer wall?" He said to the other garrison soldier, unimpressed and annoyed by the amount of refugees. "I think the titans could've maybe eaten just a few more people..."
His tone was just infuriating and disgusting to hear, this man wasn't even trying to hide it, just saying it out there with no problem at all.
He let himself run his mouth freely and speak low of those who came from Wall Maria. Words like that just simply couldn't go... unchecked.
Eren had it already, he started approaching the Garrison soldier, he could hear Armin calling him out, but ignored it.
The Garrison soldier was in the middle of saying something about the food shortage when he got kicked in his shin by Eren.
The soldier winced at first, he struck back with a punch straight to Eren and before Eren could process it he was kicked to the ground by the other garrison soldier.
That hurt, this hurts, this treatment. "None of you know what it's like! I've seen it!" He yelled at them, the bruises and minor injuries from that hit adding on to his tears. "You've never seen what Titans do to people!"
The man let out a small huff in response, creased his face a bit, "Shut up!"
Before he could do anything else, Armin had stepped out in front, arms wide open to defend Eren. "We apologize for causing trouble! He's just been very hungry and unsettled by these events!" He then continued his plead with, "that's why he lashed out, we're very sorry for this."
Maybe he might let these kids off this time and not kick them. The soldier took a deep breath, "man... it's us that you have something to bite on and haven't starved," he turned around and began walking away, "you better be thankful for what we do!"
Trying to sound grateful just to conclude this mess, Armin replied with "Of course!"
After that, they had gone back to the massive food storage unit that was used as an improvised refugee structure. Mikasa trying to support Eren but he was being pushy, making it seem like he was completely fine with Armin saying something to him.
Interesting it would be to just watch that, as all the surrounding people did. They looked the other way once that matters was settled, now focusing on attempting to receive their rations, what's left to hand out.
"Okay he acts like he's some sort of fighter or something, maybe that whole survey corps whatever it was Grisha told him." Chief Drillman had said to himself, keeping a little bit of journal on everything that's going on.
He was currently stationed in an small passage between some buildings watching everything unfold before him
He had decided to sneak into this massive city early in the morning before activity would kick off like the skibidi toilets whenever they launched their overwhelming raids.
Finding this place wasn't so hard thanks to the roads he followed, but finding Eren was difficult but the hot spots where people gathered gave him a clue where he could be.
It was a relief when he found him, of course it was just right before he decided to go and kick that soldier in his shins and then find the boy being pounded by two adults wasn't that fun for him to watch.
He considered intervention... but decided against it.
Don't expose, that's what he had to follow now. These people are as isolated as an uncontacted tribe.
Then a metal groan came through the communication device installed in Chief's head. Of course, thank you Steve for the input. "Steve he's fine, he didn't die, he just got himself... into trouble."
The titan made himself sound again.
"Good question, yes I assume that's where people from I assume the other regions are staying, or the outer wall I heard." He waited for Titan Drillman to say anything else, which he did. "I probably won't pursue or see what they're doing any longer, so for now I'll just head back out, done for the day. We know where he resides, and I don't want myself to be exposed on accident for staying too long."
He checks the crowds from where he was positioned.
All seemed good, nothing bad. Time to clock out for today. He pressed his fingers against his head, "I'm heading back Steve, you know where I'll be going."
The titan said something back to him which one could say was him acknowledging it.
The first thing he did was move over to the other side of the narrow passage, he checked his surroundings, he had to make sure no one would watch him or even attempt to look at him. When it seemed like no one passed through he quickly skimmed over and ran to the next set of buildings.
Of course he could've attempted to burrow himself a hole but that was too loud. Too much noise to make.
Can't walk around these corners with potential enemies.
Speaking of enemies. He remembered the smaller titan that grabbed the Drill Titan's tail, and that human. They were still lurking and nothing had been done yet.
A white light, that's what appeared next, it was bright, it engulfed everything, couldn't see anything as everything was white, then some faint noises were heard, it was faint, muffled at first.
