Chief Drillman threw himself at the soldier who couldn't get a sound out of his mouth as he was forced to instead focus on stopping the Chief's attack.
He raised his arms to shield himself as Chief attempted to break it with his own strength, but shortly enough, the soldier would then respond by trying to round a kick into his legs.
Chief managed to avoid the kick by stepping back.
Even though he's metal, he should be fine, but who knows what might happen? He can't take that kind of risk. He rushed in once more because the soldier was about to yell, and the same action repeated once more, only this time Chief Drillman was able to break his shielding.
He grabbed the soldier's arm, who was also struggling to get Chief off of him, but Chief had a bit more strength applying here and had him thrown against the wall.
The soldier temporarily had the wind knocked out of him but recovered quickly as he rushed at Chief. He grabbed his waist while Chief tried to slow whatever he was doing but instead got slammed into the ground.
"Shit," Chief thought to himself the impact caused his gears to make some weird movements.
This soldier is no fodder. He's got skill.
And to add on to this fight, the rough impact had caused Chief's hat to get knocked off.
But the soldier almost froze when he saw Chief Drillman's head shape. "Just... what?"
Chief took this opportunity to strike him... strike him hard against his left cheek, his knuckles making contact against his lower jaw.
A terrible wave of pain hit the soldier as he grabbed his jaw, tumbled, and fell off Chief while the latter took the opportunity to regain his footing and put some small distance between him and the soldier
What now? What could he do? Run?
Not much time for him to think as he gave the soldier a perfect opening by being stuck in his thoughts as the man had a knife out and was ready for more. His desire to fight overcoming his previous duty to alert the others.
He stepped towards Chief Drill man and swung at him, but Chief had shifted his weight to one side leaning off, avoiding it, barely.
The man attempted to swing at Chief several times, towards the torso, stomach, arms, and then towards his head, but these unorganized swings made the man slowly become more fatigued.
More of this, just one more swing.
Chief approached the man fast this time with the intention of getting him to throw another swing.
The soldier put more effort into this one. His hand gripped the knife harder that one could see it going extremely pale. He struck at Chief's head, the blade only making partial contact, the durability acting as a buffer as there was only grazing at the top of his weirdly shaped head.
The speed of the knife caused minor insignificant chipping to his head. "No..." the soldier said tiredly and still sounding angry, "that shouldn't be possible."
Chief remained silent, regardless of the surprise this man, if he kept rambling even more, he might remember that he should've called for help. Chief threw himself at the man catching him off guard with sudden movement and tackled him to the ground.
The knife had flung out of his hand, and the soldier was disarmed.
Chief Drillman was striking the man's face, the man's face being more and more bruised with each strike of his fist that made contact.
He kept going and going until eventually the man was in no shape to even fight.
His face was... well, a mess. He's not dead... just... out of commission for now. Chief grabbed his hat, stood up, and fixed himself, now what to do.
Well, he might as well just leave him here for the others to find him. If he hid the soldier, there would probably be tighter security as to why one of their men had gone missing.
Just leave him here, do that, and that's what Chief did.
He left this area as soon as possible and kept moving until he finally found a spot that was more secluded and unlikely for someone to stumble upon him.
He tapped his fingers against his head, opening up his communication with Titan Drillman, time to give the big guy an update on what happened.
A signal was reached as evident by a small beep, and then Chief said, "Steve, you there?"
A rather neutral mechanic noise came from the titan.
"Great, quick update, got into a rough spot, but don't worry, it's been handled, so there's nothing to fret over."
The titan would then respond back to Chief with low growl as if he were trying to say that Chief is lying.
Of course, he would do something like this. He would be trying to eat a boulder, and then the next second, he spots an enemy from a large distance. "For now, the human I got into a rough situation with was taken care of. But they'll find his body, and I don't think there should be any escalation other than watching over the food more closely here."
The titan took a moment to take in the information, cool, the titan probably thought to himself other than simply being convinced. He let out a low growl in response.
"Alright, that's all I have to say, and remember, stay away from towns or humans, just don't do anything stupid, going out," he silenced communication with the Drill Titan, nice, now onto what he needed to do.
He began moving to another area that would be in proximity to the makeshift refugee home, since previously he did separate himself a good distance away from where Eren Jaeger currently was.
He looked from one side to the other, full of people since it's daytime, not here, here he can't move.
He'll have to approach the storage unit from another area in this city. He might have to go around.
He might need another way of sneaking into this city. The whole getting by breaking into a box and then being brought all the way into this place is no longer going to work.
A change in plans will be required.
It's time to explore some options. But first, he ruled out the number one thing he absolutely won't do.
Steve.
He would bury this city in a heartbeat and cause a genocide and then wonder where everyone went.
Chief pushed that to the back of his head. No way, anyways, he considered he could always dig his own entrance into this place. Patrols are mainly conducted at the main gate, so he could just dig near where the district wall and the main wall intersected. That the could do, and there was also just scaling the walls which can be done early in the morning, he could do that, just embed his head an drill some holes, hell, he could just use his hands to maybe punch a crevice for footing.
While lost in his thoughts, he seemingly entered a neighborhood of this district that was... visibly more impoverished than others.
Chief Drillman gave it some acknowledgment but was more focused on his mind rather than the status of this community.
The streets slowly became more rough with each step he took. It was no longer a soft, gentle landing, and instead, it was more rough but maintaining its flatness.
He then remembered something else, Marley. Grisha mentioned it before his... sacrifice, another distant nation, but name seemed to carry a negative connotation with how he put it. Especially when he said things are a little more different and not like here.
Damn it, Grisha never provided the details on where the hell this civilization was.
But there was that harbor Chief and the Drill Titan found when he first got here. He just didn't bother to look closely at it, and maybe a clue could be found there.
While Chief was contemplating the state of the other country with little to no clue about, he was pulled out of his thoughts when he realized where he really was.
Not again.
Not this again.
A couple of worn-out men came out of their crippling houses, looking stoned and in a rough shape.
"You have to shitting me," Chief whispered to himself annoyingly.
He counted three in front of him, two of them with knives. Alright, he can take them, but one of them had a different weapon, which seemed like a musket, flintlock specifically.
Having to go through all of this just to keep a close eye on Eren Jaeger is just insane.
