He looked at his right hand. His fingers were broken, even as a robotic being, created to be an agent of destruction and to burrow holes. It was painful to even move them.
"Don't try it. One of your fingers is almost coming off." Chief Drillman said, warning him.
The titan let out a small mechanical grunting like noise. He let his hand rest in an idle position on his lap. He couldn't figure out what to do with it exactly. "Cover it up with a drill." He obliged, and from the small openings around his wrists, a metal covering came over his hand, encompassing it with a drill.
With that out of the way, Chief could focus on the bigger issue, this place he and the Drill titan found themselves in. Besides the mysterious person who attacked them and the other giant naked human with plating, he had to worry about what both him and the titan have been questioning.
The titan had been staring at the walls for quite some time, which Chief hadn't noticed since he was lost in his thought. "Steve, I know it might seem like a bit off to you, but could you approach those walls, slowly."
The titan tilted his head in confusion. Maybe it was because there were some of those humans that Chief told him about.
So he did, slowly making his way towards the walls, which he easily towered because of just how massive he was. Almost double the height of them.
He looked down, eager to see what these humans really looked like, but sadly for him, there wasn't any.
Instead, the buildings had been destroyed, just like the ones he had always seen, wait a minute, he leaned over, left hand on the wall to support him, trying to see what those things were, were they humans? "No, Steve, those aren't humans, I don't think they go out naked with big smiles on their face." Chief told him.
He let his head hang down in disappointment. He stood straight up, looking over the city. Chief inspected the city, inspected the housing, which most seemed to be made of wooden patterns with either dried mud or stone, while some just completely made out of stone, a hint of the renaissance to it.
He could say he was in Europe, possibly central, but here's the issue, no cities had walls this tall encompassing them, and the peasant, actually, excuse himself, lower class styled houses certaintly did not appear in that fashion.
Could they have traveled back in time? Chief quickly glanced back at the clock that he was gifted long ago. No, well, perhaps, but how, he didn't believe chief clockman to be able to create something that could reverse or send you back by 300 years.
Maybe they got sent to another dimension, but this isn't anything conclusive, and he's only working off of just an observation of this destroyed city. "Perhaps we should just make our way to the other side." Chief thought to himself.
He leaned forward and spoke into the communications equipment. "Steve, we're going to the other side of this wall. If we want clues, we will have to drill deeper."
The Drill titan let out a small mechanical sound that could be interpreted as him saying "Understood" or "ok". He covered his left hand with a drill and aimed towards the ground. He descended downwards, enough for his massive body to be nowhere near... the base of the wall, burrowing himself through the earth, he let out a small roar.
"I will find out where are we, and what is going on." Chief Drillman thought to himself as the titan drilled through the dirt and stone. There were too many questions he had, and almost no answers to his and Titan drillman's predicament.
Certainly, the world was collapsing. The world that was once believed to be safe because of the ever so precious walls that shielded people from the titans. To believe that the world outside was dangerous and assumed it was.
Most of the people had retreated behind Walls Rose, and the territory of Wall Maria was lost.
Although news took its time to travel to the far districts but the change of events was evident enough for people to flee or shelter, if that was possible.
Somewhere secluded, covered by thick forests and terrain that made visibility absolute dogwater.
There was only a dim light illuminating a small area around the two figures, sitting down.
"Hey, dad, why are we here and not with the others?" Eren asked, confused as to why he was taken so far into the woods.
His father, Grisha, was rather silent. His facial expression was hard to read until finally, a few minutes later, he spoke up. "Eren, I'm... relieved that your mother and Mikasa are alive." He took a deep breath. "But that aside, there is something I need to tell you, something I must trust you with."
It seemed like he was holding back his emotions from overwhelming him from the small tinge of remorse in his voice, as if he had just done something he regretted.
"Dad?" Eren asked, concerned and confused.
"The walls have been breached, as you already know, the people are being forced to flee."
Yeah, he was right about that. Because of the ignorance of the military and the people they couldn't fight back at all, Eren thought to himself, but where was he going with this. His father became silent once more for a minute. He let out a sniffle and then spoke once more. "Eren, you want to erase all the titans and see the outside world, right?"
"Y... yeah," he replied with uncertainty still. Eren noticed his dad had brought a small case, a small box with something inside.
Grisha let out another deep breath. He stood up and faced his son. "Follow your dream, and enlist in the military, join the survey corps."
"I know dad bu-" He couldn't finish what he was going to say at all when his dad took off the necklace around his neck, with a key attached to it. "What...."
"This, I'm entrusting you with this." He didn't stop there, as he reached for the casing, opened it, and pulled out what Eren guess one of his medical tools, a syringe, with a substance of sorts inside of it.
"Dad! What are you doing?" Eren seemed to snap first as he took a step back.
"Eren! Give me your arm!"
"No!" He yelled. Grisha felt terrible for doing this, but he felt and knew himself there wasn't much time left. He lunged forward and grabbed Eren's arm. "Dad! Let me go!"
"Eren! This is for your own sake!" Grisha had to get it done, even if it meant putting a heavy burden on him. He raised the syringe and aimed it at Eren's arm.
"Dad, you've gone insane!"
"What's going on here!!?" A new voice yelled from the dark void of the forests that it had silenced both Eren and his father.
No, no, now was not the best time for this. He couldn't have someone seeing what was going on here.
Grisha stared back and forth between a traumatized Eren and the source from which the voice came from. He thought about causing an injury to himself. He still has a knife on him, and he could use that. He could also just inject Eren with the syringe while he's in his little mental freeze.
The figure took a few steps forward from the void, crunching the leaves underneath his feet.
He came into view. "Stop!" Grisha tried to order him.
He stopped, Grisha inspected him from where he stood, seemed like a man dressed in the attire that of a nobleman, with an odd cone like gold plated patch on him.
"What are you doing with that child?" The man with a rather interesting accent asked him. "Is he yours?"
