Sat at the back of Lily's broom, from sky high, you looked down at the battlefield you freshly arrived to and watched the constantly bouncing flashes.
"It does look pretty, doesn't it?"- Lily's eyes were admiring the sight.
And yes. Indeed it did look pretty. But what looked pretty were only the sights of demise and death. And how could you admire watching death unless you were the dark lord?
When she landed, you instantly jumped off her broom and swiftly began stunning one enemy after another.
Molly, who had been greatly advised not to join the battle due to her pregnancy, had been doing a great job at disarming. She knew she was risking her family but she felt confident in her abilities. At least the enemies she was fighting were not death eaters.
All though, Minerva McGonagall and Arthur Weasley were standing around Molly to make sure the extra of her safety.
James and Lily had been fighting back to back as typical lovers. But their passion for each other reflected in their eyes. They knew they weren't going to lose each other any time soon.
Aberforth and Albus had taken down the most of the enemy. They would team up and as Aberforth would create fireballs, Albus would form an inferno. An incredible power.
Fabian and Gideon were fighting bravely, almost mimicking each others moves, predicting each others next step which turned out to be a very effective and efficient strategy.
The Longbottoms successfully avoided the incoming spells thankfully due to the strength they had at each others' arms and the swift reflexes. When Alice was shot down by one of the spells and had wounded her leg greatly, Frank used his anger to transform it into energy as a protection.
Remus had let himself turn into a werewolf and to your surprise, Sirius had voluntarily turned himself into a wolf not just to help Remus fight, but to keep him company as an animal and at the same time protect his friends.
The rest of the wizards and witches would dash around from one enemy to another, most of them being victorious against the dark arts.
You noticed one of the witches get cornered by two of the enemy. Immediately, you rushed to her and helped her stun the foes.
Most of the rest of your time in the battlefield you spent running around, helping others instead of straight away attacking vulnerable rivals. If there was a quick flash of lightning ejected from a wand coming your way, you would either disarm it or deflect it.
At some point into the battle, you noticed you had ran away further from the rest of the group. But it wasn't the time to think about it as the enemy kept appearing in an attempt to kill, stun, torture or disarm you. It was easier than you thought to twirl and avoid blasts here and there, but you were using every bit of energy inside yourself to form and evade spells. It slowly started being exhausting and you were fighting your best to not give in.
After one spell, another spell, third spell, it went quiet. You caught your breath. You were now a lot further than the rest of the group and couldn't see them anymore. Was this just a diversion?
Suddenly, one throbbing, thickening pain inside your head got stronger and stronger. You squinted your eyes in pain as you covered your ears, falling down on your knees. You didn't know what was going on.
When the pain began to dissolve you looked up, of course, to see Mortier himself smiling with his obnoxious grin who had held onto his wand after freshly using a spell on you.
You stood up and sighed "Why must you always find some sort of way to lure me from the rest?"
Without replying to that, wasting no more breath, he frowned "Ventus!" - and began to form a hurricane from the tip of his wand
"Nebulus!" - suddenly, a large amount of fog blasting out from your wand evolved around you and Mortier. This gave you enough time to not only divert his spell, but summon your broom and fly away.
But Mortier wasn't THAT weak. With one spell, he set your broom on fire and whilst you tried to put the flames out, your broom twisted and twirled and you fell off from at least one story high. You felt one of your bones crack as your knees now had freshly open, painfully throbbing wounds.
Mortier quickly caught up and had already arrived where you fell off. He noticed you were about to reach for your wand so he immediately disarmed you, setting off the wand to bounce far away from you.
Hardly, with the little of your might inside of you due to the massive blow of the fall, you rolled around to lay on your back and face him forwards "M-Must it always" - it was painful to even talk "Come to this?"
"Where is it." - Mortier kneeled down in front of you "I assure you it won't come to this if you just tell me. Must you always be this ignorant?"
You flashed him a cheeky grin "I will never tell you"
"Fine." - he bit his lip in disgust and anger "Then you shall pay."
When he directed his wand at you and was about to utter a torturous curse, he got tackled down by a large werewolf followed by a wolf - it was Remus and Sirius! they had started biting him, slowly ripping his skin and clothes to shreds until Mortier found the will to resist and just when it looked like Remus and Sirius were going to win, Mortier set himself free and began to attack the wolves.
That's when you felt a warm embrace from behind you - it was Lily. She looked as worried as ever and with all her might, she lifted you up and wrapped your arm around her shoulder, just like what you did to her when she fell unconscious.
From behind her, James Potter and Peter Pettigrew attacked Mortier, helping Remus and Sirius.
Lily got you back on her broom. With the rest of your energy you wrapped your arms around her waist and she began to set off.
But she was shortly shot down by one of the enemies down from below and she too, was forced to fall. She used most of her control and did the best she could to land softly but to little avail.
When the two of you fell to the ground, you suddenly got a swift brush of icy tingle that sunk through your veins. Barely able to keep your eyes open, you saw the grass instantly die due to sudden thick amount of frost.
"Oh no..." - Lily's voice quivered "Dementors!"
-----------
Back at the attack of Remus, Sirius, James and Peter who had overpowered Mortier, It was four versus one. And even though Mortier didn't do as bad as one would in such battle, he soon was tied down by magical, blazing rods ejected from James' and Peters' wands.
But oddly, Remus dashed off somewhere into the woods, sensing something.
Barely able to hold onto Mortier, James shouted at Sirius "We got him! GO!"
Sirius, still transformed into the wolf, followed Remus, and shortly found himself inside the mysterious looking woods. It was icy cold. And at that point such frost in the area only meant one thing - the dementors are nearby.
Sirius couldn't find Remus anywhere. Nor hear him. With his paws, he tapped further into the darkness, howling out to Lupin who had not responded. Until, after some time, he started hearing soft growling from a distance. Remus had been standing still, watching and growling at a dark figure standing among a bunch of dementors. It was of course, the dark lord himself, not being touched by the ghouls at all. He must of been trying to recruit them out in these woods.
Sirius, in his wolf form, started growling too.
Tom, who had only now noticed the two wolves that were standing opposite only flashed a smirk. He knew that the dementors would take care of him.
But no.
Somewhere, further way from him, and the opposite side of Remus and Sirius, an "Expecto patronum!"  spell had been cast. One so large that it banished most of the flying, black ghouls.
Tom could barely see who it was, he only saw a hint of ginger hair from somewhere between the trees.
Riddle summoned a spell that scared away Remus as it made the poor werewolf set off running.
It was now just Sirius in a wolf form and Tom face to face, by a frozen lake and a couple dementors in the midst of the woods.
------------
Back where you and Lily had crashed, after Evans summoned the patronum spell, you both heard a loud, strong yelp coming from somewhere outside the trees in front of you. It sounded like a dying animal.
Lily told you to stay here and rushed off towards the sound.
You awaited a good few minutes. But she didn't come back.
When you heard the yelps of painful howling stop, you heard a loud shriek of a woman.
"LILY?!" - you shouted, instantly pushing yourself off the ground and standing up. But you had a really hard time walking. Your legs and feet were sore, bleeding. Your face was bruised and your head was spinning.
When you followed the noises, there you saw it.
Tom Marvolo Riddle using a crucio curse on your best friend, Lily Evans.
You heard Tom taunt Lily as in satisfaction he watched her body mingle around in until she passed out from the massive flow of pain. Then he switched back to Sirius with great disgust on his face, he felt no guilt whatsoever in torturing the animagi "It is your fault." - Riddle frowned "It is your fault." - he repeated, unable to even describe the strong hatred he felt for Sirius.
"TOM!" - you yelped, unable to watch this "STOP! I'M ALIVE!" - you tripped and fell down to your knees again. You felt extremely weak, you couldn't get up. When you glanced up, you caught a glimpse of Tom who had stopped torturing Sirius when his eyes caught yours.
He looked as shocked as ever. His eyes widened, his jaw nearly dropped.
Immediately, he forgot about the torture and sprinted towards you, wrapping his warm arms around your body, clenching onto you tightly. You could feel your heart send warm butterflies into your stomach as you listened to his heart beat faster than it ever did before. He missed you.
