You twirled your wand towards Voldemort's wrist, sending his wand flying out of his grasp. This set Sirius free of the binds.
You sent a quick spell at Nagini, who hissed at the fire spell as she jumped off his now red neck.
"What are you doing?" - Voldemort sneered
"I cannot let you kill him."
"After everything. You choose him."
"I choose to save his life."
"Of course you do" - he snickered as if growing insane "I figured you would." - he waved his hand and Nagini launched for your torso, which you dodged. Knowing you're distracted, Voldemort grabbed his wand out of your hand and pushed you out of the way
"Avada Kedavra!" - a green flash shot out of his wand at the collapsed man. The spell blasted into Sirius Black and his face dropped still. Nothing left, just a ghost of his pale face.
As if a buzz rang in your ears, you screamed as you held onto your head, falling down to your knees.
Riddle took your pain for affection and maliciously scowled at you.
"So this is who your heart really belongs to."
You couldn't even tell him that he was wrong. It was too painful to even say a word, only being able to glare into the lifeless eyes of Sirius Black.
"Consider yourself no longer under my protection" - Voldemort bluntly stated "You will die."
"No..." - you uttered, standing up "You will!" - you twirled your wand at Voldemort once more, casting a quick spell that sent him flying through the wall. You felt wind push in through now the massive hole, where a part of it had shattered.
When you flew over to him, now in the dark street, Voldemort stood on his feet.
"You..." - he said "You know where they are too. You must."
"That doesn't matter."
"I will get that out of you. If not, I will murder you." - he said "And turn that worthless piece of gold on your wrist into a horcrux" - he laughed, his eyes insane "You will be nothing."
"So be it."
Lightning shot out from both of your wands, clashing in the middle like a cannon blast, you could feel the ground shake underneath your feet as your hand trembled at the pulsating of the spell.
"A shadow grows and grows inside your heart" - Trewalney's words from the prophecy played in your head like a broken rewind tape.
You yelped as you whisked your hand to the right, sending the colliding spells into a lamp post that shattered under impact. You quickly summoned an enchanted fireball that evolved into a spitting Lion, running over to the Snake that was about to ambush you.
But then the air turned cold. The former brittle grass turned into ice as you could see yourself breathing out mist while your summoned lion had dissolved before it could even reach Nagini.
As if in slow motion, your eyes darted upwards, and you saw a bunch of hooded figures fly down, all at once, at you, ignoring Riddle, who had shut out any of his happy memories.
Dementors.
"Expecto Patronum!" - you throatily screamed, your breath growing heavy, your heart quivering rapidly as a light that was born at the tip of your wand grew and grew into a large, silver mist.
When the spell dissolved, you saw Bellatrix, Antonin and Igor, all stand behind Voldemort.
Bellatrix was smirking at you as she caught a quick glance towards the blasted wall, where Sirius's body had been laying dead "How's my cousin?" - she chuckled
"You're about to find out" - you shot out a spell at her, but Voldemort intervened between, deflecting your enchantment and protecting her.
You lowered your wand, a little hurt by the move.
Voldemort noticed the shift in your look and moved over, presenting Bellatrix with his arm as he glared over at you "Come on. Do it. You know the spell. Not the one you just used, but the one you know you want to cast. You heave to mean it."
Lestrange looked a little shocked. She didn't know whether he meant it, but she surely hoped he did not.
Voldemort's lip curled "Never learnt it, miss heir of Gryffindor? You are such a disappointment."
Voldemort decided no longer to drag it, he quickly disarmed you.
Lestrange declared "Let me do it, my lord! Let me kill her!"
"No." - Voldemort responded "Something worse awaits our friend."
Friend
Voldemort raised his wand, meeting cold glares for the last time. He performed complex magic on you, the one that would implant a false memory.
Everything to you suddenly turned dull. The world seemed to spin once again. When it stopped spinning and you grabbed your head, there was not a soul around you. You noticed the shattered wall again, this time, you cried out heavily.
You killed Sirius Black!
-----
You had given yourself in to the ministry, feeling guilt over what had happened.
The ministry locked you and sent you away for Azkaban shortly.
The news of Sirius passing crushed Remus, who had curled up and heavily sobbed.
But those news never reached the Potter house.
Whilst you were being sent for Azkaban, Voldemort already visited them, having read your mind before placing the false memory spell on you.
"No!" - James yelled, trying to protect his family "Lily! Run!" - he groaned as he was shot down by Lord Voldemort
Lily rushed to Harry's room where she cried, cradling Harry "Everything will be okay" - she whimpered, lying "It will be over soon" - she whispered as she lowered him to his bed before her burdened with pain eyes looked into Harry's terrified ones "Harry you are so loved... so loved..."
Harry, mummy loves you. Daddy loves you. Harry, be safe. Be strong.
Voldemort had burst into the room and Lily threw herself in front of the incoming curse, falling dead to the floor, her skin turned as pale as porcelain, her eyes - lifeless, as if a cloud of mist descended on her. And the once warm person with a heartbeat had turned empty and dull.
Voldemort had slaughtered them both without mercy before finally trying to kill terrified, baby Harry. But the spell backfired and the dark lord was no more. For now.
Little did he know, without having heard the other half of the prophecy, Voldemort marked Harry as his equal and neither one could now live while the other one survived.
-----
Years later.
-----
Harry had been looking down at a fragment of paper
'A murderer has escaped Azkaban'
But whilst he dug his nose into the newspaper, a voice called out to him "Mr. Potter?"
Harry glanced over to see Mcgonagall watching over him
"He's waiting for you" - she added.
Harry folded the paper and entered Dumbledore's office, which Snape had freshly left.
"Professor." - Harry gulped, not knowing why he was being summoned
"Harry." - Albus said "Do come in. Have a seat."
As Harry did so, Dumbledore immediately cut to the chase "I need you to find someone."
Potter admired Dumbledore and knew that if Albus wanted him to do something, it was for a good reason.
"What is it, professor?"
"I need you to find your godmother." - Albus pointed his wand at the fragment tucked in Harry's pocket.
"Godmother?" - Harry's eyes suddenly twinkled "I have a godmother?" - when he took out the paper again and looked at it, his eyebrows quickly twitched as he read out the word again - 'murderer'
"Yes." - Albus nodded "Years ago, it had been rumored that she killed Sirius Black."
Harry's eyesight lowered "I never knew him."
"No. But it is time for you to find her."
"How come I never knew this professor? Nobody tells me anything"
"I assure you, Mr. Potter, I am the wrong person to demand answers from. A long time ago she was close with Tom Riddle. If anyone knows how to destroy him once and for all - it will be her."
"But if it's true and she really killed -- Sirius--"
"You will find out. She's gone under hiding ever since she escaped but luckily, I might have an idea where she is."
---
Ron, Harry and Hermione had been standing in the dark street, looking at a house that once belonged to your parents.
Harry approached the doorstep, taking a deep breath as he knocked.
The lock of the door rumbled before it was opened, and an elderly woman peeked her head through the narrow gap "Yes?"
"Hi, I'm just wondering if someone lives here." - Harry looked into her wrinkled eyes " "
The woman paused, as if recalling the name "She hasn't lived her for years, I'm sorry"
As she was about to close the door, Harry stopped it "Do you know where she is? It's important"
The elderly woman could sense the cold squeezing in through the gap like an uninvited guest and she disliked it, finally opening it fully "Come in."
As the trio walked into her house, they looked around in the living room, spotting some old family photos. On a few of them, a face of a particular person had been burnt out.
Hermione looked at the family portrait as she read your engraved last name on the frame.
"Tea?" - the woman asked, limping over to the kitchen
"No, thank you" - Harry replied, signaling over for Hermione to put down the picture. As she did, Ron's eyes took attention towards the massive painting on the wall of a couple. There was a young woman on the left, seemed to be seated, as a gentleman with shoulder length hair, a moustache, and grey eyes had been standing, smiling. The pair wore matching engagement rings.
"Who are these people?" - Ron asked
The elderly woman, as if had been ignoring the refusal for tea, shook her head "Nobody dear, just someone who used to live here."
The old lady's hand trembled as she poured in the tea, and as Harry reached over to help, it had slipped from her grip and dropped down to the floor, shattering to pieces as the hot liquid was absorbed by the old carpet.
"Sorry" - she said, picking up the pieces from the floor "I'm not the woman I used to be"
Harry knelled down to the floor and helped her pick up the pieces. As he did so, his bright eyes locked with the elderly woman who had been glaring at him as if she already knew him.
"Your eyes" - the woman said "You have your mother's eyes"
Harry's lip stiffened "You knew my mother?"
"Who are you?" - Hermione added
"Forgive me, I--" - the woman seemed to be getting emotional "I just really miss them all"
"Tell me" - Harry seemed all of sudden very interested "Tell me about her. Do you know ?"
The elderly woman sighed, lowering the teapot. She knew this day would come. The woman took out her wand and uttered "Revelio"
Her features started to change and her wrinkles faded. Soon enough, the trio were standing in front of the woman from the portrait.
"You--" - Harry stuttered, shocked "You are !"
"You're the lady from the portrait" - Ron pointed at the painting behind him
"Yes." - you nodded. "Unfortunately."
"And the man beside you in there" - Hermione gasped "Is it Sirius Black?"
"It is." - you answered
"I don't know where to start..." - Harry said, feeling conflicted whether he felt happy he found a part of his family he had lost a long time ago, or if he should feel angry.
"Sit down, Mr. Potter" - you said "Let me tell you about my story."
You had told him the story of your crossing with Voldemort and the way you had done some poor choices. You had told him about your recent time in Azkaban and how you've escaped by yourself.
This time you were there for so long, you only had one, most recent, happy memory left - Hugging Lily Potter.
You told Harry how once ago, whilst looking at mirror of erised, you had witnessed a desire of elder wand as a bunch of bodies were laid out flat beside you. And Tom Riddle was by your side. You mentioned how that vision grew stronger in your head throughout your time in Azkaban.
You mentioned how you almost fed your pet rabbit to your snake just for homework.
And mentioned how much you could have done differently.
You said that this inner darkness in you - it was the reason of why - you had finally snapped and killed Sirius Black. Begging Harry for forgiveness.
Harry doubted. But he sensed you were a good person.
Harry Potter decided to forgive you, and give you a chance. As Long as you would help him defeat Lord Voldemort once and for all.
You agreed, pulling him in for a sudden embrace as you smiled for the first time in years
"Godson."
