Being a werewolf is not going to be easy. How did we go from practically breaking up to this? I've never had such a violent reaction to anyone. Including Knight himself. I feel like my body is both on fire while submerged in ice cold water.
I pull away to tell him that we need to go inside again, and suddenly, my body changes. Knight lifts me up and starts taking me towards the house, but something is wrong. As soon as the door is opened, a scent I've never encountered before hits me, and my skin breaks out in goosebumps.
"Someone's here," I cover Knight's mouth. Without hesitation he lowers me and spins me around. There's a gun in his hand aimed toward the front door as he pushes me behind him.
"Don't stop on our account. We're just making ourselves at home,"
A very tall woman in my kitchen is eating my baby's favorite cheese stick snacks. A growl comes out of me as she takes us both in. To my disappointment or maybe my wolf's, Knight lowers the gun and tucks it back into his jacket.
"You disabled my alarm? What the fuck is wrong with you?" he growls at her.
"Maybe if you had a Lycan Tech one, it wouldn't have been so easy," another woman, a much smaller one, says as she comes out of my study with one of my sketch books in her hand. Without thinking, I snatch it from her.
"Don't touch my shit," I warn her.
"Holy shit," she says looking me over. "It's like looking at you four years ago, Perry,"
"No, it's not," Knight scoffs. "Never compare vampirella to my mate again. What the hell are you two doing here?"
"We have a problem. Two, but one is an easy fix. You must be Phoebe," the tall woman comes closer. The chills along my body only worsen as she gets closer. I step back. "I'm Perry,"
"I recognize your voice from the videos," I nod, stepping closer to Knight.
"What did I fucking tell you?" she asks the smaller woman who I'm guessing is Violetta Wilde.
"Whatever. It probably slid out," she grins revealing her canines.
"She spelled it out for me in some of the pages. Along the left margins every fifth page," I correct her.
"You hear that, Vy? That means fuck you in our native tongue," Perry laughs and comes closer. She walks around me until we're standing right in front of one another. She takes in a deep breath and nods. "Fuck. I don't even know what to say to you,"
"Same page," I nod.
If I'm being honest, we do have a few similarities. I don't know what comes over me, but I reach up to touch her face. Her lilac-shaded eyes spark brightly at our contact. She places her hands over mine and smiles.
"You're the alpha," she says gently. "That's good. It's why you've made it this far,"
"What is that? Why do I suddenly feel like I know you?"
"It's your first introduction. Kind of like the twins did with my parents," Knight answers for her.
Perry pulls away and takes my hand, linking her fingers through mine. The feeling from before settles into a good one.
-She's strong.- Midnight says.
"Thank you," Perry smiles.
"You can hear her?"
"Yeah, my wolf was very vocal as well. We were probably meant to be in the same pack. That would have been sick," she grins.
"I agree," I laugh.
"What's the problem?" Knight runs his fingers through his messy hair and I feel my face burn up. He smirks without looking in my direction as we make our way into the kitchen.
"Are you guys hungry?" I ask them.
"Mini Rudeness usually is," Perry lets me go but stays close.
"Violetta," she offers me her hand.
"Phoebe," I take it without hesitation.
"Just don't poison me," she smiles and gives me a shrug.
My stomach sinks, and I look at Knight to see him digging in one of the empty cupboards. He retrieves a carrier and sets it on the counter as I go to make some breakfast for the four of us.
"Vy, tell Knight your problem while I pull ours up on here," Perry says as she starts up the laptop in the carrier.
"Rome isn't adapting," Violetta tells him. "Baby is loving the sigma training, but Roman isn't a people person. Vince wants him out,"
"If Roman leaves Magique, Baby is going with him. Why didn't you bring him with you? He might need something to keep his mind preoccupied,"
"He spends most of his time in his room. He doesn't socialize with anyone unless it's mandatory and it's not that he's not welcome. The females love being around him. Even my little brother is a fan,"
"Have you tried talking to him?" he asks.
"What do I look like? His mother?" she scoffs.
"He's grieving," Perry rolls her eyes. "The old man was a bastard to all of us but he was the only proper father figure we all had. That includes you, Knight. You both know this team was favored. We were all always up to something. When's the last time he hunted?"
"Pack life isn't like that," Violetta sighs. "We're at war but it's a city. I get bored of this shit too. We're used to being on an international level. Anything new on the files we have?"
"I'm still decoding. I've shown you guys what I already have," Perry sits back and shakes out her long silver hair. Look at that, we have the same lying tell.
"Angel, what are you doing?" Knight catches my attention. I look down at my cookie cutters and the waffles I'm preparing.
"What?" I ask. Because if anything is strange here, it's them. All I'm doing is making breakfast.
"You can give us the entire waffle. You don't have to cut out the shapes," he smiles.
"Speak for yourself. I want Stitch shaped waffles," Violetta scoffs at him and reaches for the spare pieces I've already cut out.
"Me too. With whipcream," Perry raises her hand.
"It's a habit. You get whole ones," I smirk.
"Nah, now I want the Stitch ones," he grins without taking his eyes off the laptop. "I see your problem right here. I'll call Allison,"
The two other girls growl at the same time.
"Your sister is a fucking psycho," Violetta says. "And I say that as Violetta Wilde,"
"Being Daddy's favorite comes with a price and she's calmed down a lot since getting mated," he grins placing his phone on the counter. It only rings once.
"Change your mind, Nate?" a woman answers immediately.
"You'd be the last person I'd call with that information," Knight scoffs.
"So, calling to waste my time. It's been a while, big brother. What can I help you with?"
"I need access to Butterfly files in England,"
"What the fuck?" she growls. "Daddy-"
"What the fuck do you need the Butterfly files for, Knightly?" his father's voice comes through.
"Hi, Mr. Knightly," I call out.
"Phoebe, how delightful. How are you adapting to your new home?" he calms down. Everyone turns to look at me with disbelief.
"It's great. I love it here. It's very peaceful. Midnight is enjoying it as well," I say as Perry slides over a sheet of paper.
"You've made contact with your wolf," he says proudly. "Good girl,"
