He pressed my head down hard toward the water. Dirty water rushed at me from all sides. I struggled violently but couldn't break free. Just as I was about to suffocate and my consciousness was fading, the door suddenly burst open.
My brother stood in the doorway with Phoenix, and seeing me nearly drowning, they kicked Caspian away from me and pulled me out of the water. Phoenix anxiously took off his jacket and wrapped it around me.
He looked guilty. "It's my fault for waking up too late. If I'd been in better shape, you wouldn't have gotten hurt like this. I told your brother everything—no one's ever gonna hurt you again."
I shook my head. I was still choking painfully but managed to speak: "Not your fault. They're the ones who screwed up."
My brother stared coldly at Caspian and Senna.
"You actually dared to hurt my sister!"
Caspian looked terrified and quickly pulled Senna toward my brother. "Brother-in-law, it's not what you think—let me explain!"
"This Seraphina Cross isn't the real Cross daughter! She's just some fake who stole someone else's life. Senna is your real sister!"
Senna looked at my brother with tears in her eyes. "Brother, I'm your real sister! This Seraphina Cross stole my identity and kidnapped me—you can't let her get away with this!"
My brother's expression turned completely baffled.
"I remember you—you're that poor student our family sponsored, right? What the hell are you talking about? Seraphina is my sister."
Senna said frantically, "No, twenty years ago we got switched at birth in the hospital."
She pulled out the DNA test from her bag. "Brother, look—this is a DNA test. I really am your sister."
My brother didn't even bother looking at the test. He stared at Senna with a cold laugh:
"Seraphina was born in the Cross family estate. I was right there with her from the moment she was born, and the whole place was surrounded by bodyguards. How could babies get switched with everyone watching?"
