Both Senna and Caspian were stunned.
Especially Caspian—he'd been so happy thinking he'd helped the Cross family find their real daughter, sure they'd be grateful and secure his position as the Hartwell heir.
But now he suddenly realized Senna might be lying, which meant he'd just brutalized the real Cross heiress.
Given how much my brother cared about me, the Cross family would never let him off the hook.
Caspian couldn't accept this outcome. Clinging to one last hope, he grabbed the DNA test. "How is this possible? Then this DNA test..."
The moment he saw the names, Caspian froze.
His hand clenched the paper tight, then his face turned red as he threw the test back at Senna's face, snarling: "Senna, are you out of your fucking mind?! This is a DNA test between you and your dad!"
When Senna first showed him the test, he hadn't looked closely—just saw "DNA test" and believed her story.
Senna seemed completely defeated and didn't react to Caspian's anger at all.
She pointed at the test: "Yeah, me and my dad aren't related, which proves I'm not his biological daughter. So I could be the Cross baby who got switched!"
Caspian was floored by her stupidity. "Why don't you just say your mom cheated? By your logic, every man in the world could be your father."
My brother had no patience left for this circus. He shouted: "Take this woman, Caspian, and that bodyguard to the warehouse. All of them."
The head bodyguard dropped to his knees, trembling as he apologized. Others might not know what "the warehouse" meant, but he knew all too well.
It was where they took disobedient subordinates for punishment—a place reeking of blood and horror, like an ancient dungeon. Few people came out of there in one piece.
"That woman fooled me! She said she was the Cross heiress, so I helped her throw her weight around. I didn't know she was lying! Master, please forgive me this once."
My brother snorted coldly. "Forgive you? Then what about everything my sister went through?"
He waved his hand dismissively, ordering the others to take them away.
I finally relaxed and passed out.
When I woke up again, I was in a VIP hospital bed.
The first thing I saw was my brother and Phoenix looking at me with concern.
My brother's tears fell instantly. "Sister, this is all my fault. When you called, I should have come myself. If I hadn't agreed to let the butler come back, if I'd made him stay to help you, you wouldn't have gotten hurt like this."
"Phoenix is someone worth trusting. He's still injured but insisted on waiting for you to wake up. I can rest easy knowing you're with him."
I glanced at Phoenix's loving gaze and blushed, coughing awkwardly to change the subject. "Brother, how are they doing in the warehouse?"
My brother's expression darkened as he drove Phoenix and me to the warehouse.
