I saw the three people locked up inside.
The head bodyguard was in the worst shape. Who would've thought such a strong-looking guy was all show? Just a little punishment and he'd pissed and shit himself—the whole area reeked.
When he saw me, he dropped to his knees begging: "Miss, please give me another chance! Don't let me lose this job—my whole family depends on my salary."
I sneered. "You won't just lose this job—no one will ever hire you again. If you want to live, take your whole family and get the hell out of here."
Senna wasn't much better off than the bodyguard. Her once-proud face was covered in wounds that looked infected—she'd never recover. This was worse than killing her.
She looked at me with pure venom. "Seraphina Cross, why?! Why are you prettier than me and born into such a happy family? Why?!"
I didn't even bother responding. My indifference made Senna scream even more frantically, pulling at her facial wounds.
Finally, I looked at Caspian.
Since he was Phoenix's nephew, my brother had considered Phoenix's feelings as his future son-in-law and hadn't let anyone touch Caspian, saying Phoenix could handle it himself.
But Caspian thought I still had feelings for him, looking at me desperately: "Seraphina, I knew you still cared about me, right? You can't bear to hurt me. That bitch fooled me—I've always loved you. Let's get married, okay?"
I stared at his disgusting face for a long time, then suddenly laughed. "Hahaha, Caspian, you really look like a dog right now."
"How can someone be so shameless? What makes you think I'd want you?"
"You don't know yet, do you? Our families are about to be united through marriage, but not with you—with your uncle, Phoenix."
I linked my arm through Phoenix's and felt him stiffen immediately, his ears turning red.
Phoenix took my other hand and looked down at Caspian. "You might not know—your father kicked you out of the family registry to show the Cross family his sincerity. The Hartwell family has no son like you anymore."
"Mr. Cross doesn't need to go easy on my brother's worthless adopted son. Just give him back ten times the pain he caused Seraphina."
"Adopted son? What do you mean? Uncle, you're abandoning me? I'm your real nephew!"
Caspian knelt on the ground, grabbing Phoenix's pants.
"Of course not. My brother can't have children, so he adopted a kid from an orphanage. I never thought you'd be so greedy that you'd hurt Seraphina. I already talked to my brother—he said he can't tolerate someone like you either."
Phoenix put his arm around my waist and we left the warehouse.
Behind us, Caspian's desperate screams echoed as we smiled at each other and got in the car.
With my brother's encouragement, Phoenix and I would marry next month.
Time passed quietly. Later I heard Senna was pregnant—three months along.
After getting beaten up, Caspian still tried to find me and apologize, but hearing about my marriage to Phoenix broke him completely.
He drank all night, then came home and beat the hell out of Senna.
Even so, Senna was willing to stay with him without any official status.
She knew her face was ruined and she'd made too many enemies. If she left Caspian, she'd really have nothing.
But none of that mattered to me anymore. I was focused on planning my wedding with Phoenix.
On our wedding day, I couldn't help asking him: "When did you start liking me?"
Phoenix looked into my eyes with complete sincerity. "From the first day I met you, my heart was already yours."
We exchanged rings.
The missed opportunity from my past life was finally fulfilled in this one.
