I didn't have much to pack—one suitcase was enough.
When I came downstairs, I found Magnus curled up on the sofa.
I went directly to pour a glass of water and get some stomach medicine, then walked over.
But he suddenly stood up and slapped me hard.
"Ophelia Grimwald, you've gone too far!"
"Who gave you permission to show them our divorce agreement?!"
"I've explained countless times that they're just playthings, they won't affect your position. Once I've had my fun, I'll come back and be a proper husband. What exactly are you making a fuss about?"
"Everyone in our circle has a mistress or two, even your father..."
I glared at him, my eyes instantly blazing with fury.
He pulled me into his arms, his voice softening. "Besides, after all these years of marriage, I've only ever been with you. Can't you feel how much I love you?"
"Be good and listen. I promise I'll be faithful to you for the rest of my life."
Years ago, that notorious playboy had pursued me relentlessly for three full years. He swore I would be his only one for life, that he would protect me and my family with his life.
I believed him.
But now, hearing the same promises, I felt numb.
When did my trust completely disappear?
Was it when his mistress first disappeared and he used my Instagram account to publicly declare his love for them, making me the laughingstock of our entire social circle?
The next day, I was surrounded by reporters, feeling helpless and alone under the flashing lights.
Or was it on our wedding anniversary when he abandoned me to perform dangerous stunts to impress them, leaving me to face his family's accusations that I didn't care about my husband's safety?
Was it when he ignored my hundred desperate calls for help while he was having fun with his mistresses at Disneyland?
Or the day before he handed me the divorce papers, when he reassigned all the specialists to treat his mistresses, leaving my mother—my only relative—to die with no one to save her...
My whole body was trembling, my clothes soaked with water.
He still held me, his skin carrying a scent I had never smelled before.
I turned my head away, only to see the ambiguous marks on his collarbone. I quietly struggled free from his embrace.
He stuffed an 80-million-dollar check into my hands. "They like this mansion. You need to move out."
I took the check and said softly, "Alright."
Magnus's expression softened, and he was about to take my hand. "Ophelia..."
Just then, agonized screams came from outside—
My dog.
I rushed out in panic, only to see Clarissa viciously kicking my dog, who lay on the ground barely breathing.
I shoved her away hard, tears streaming down my face.
The poor little dog was barely breathing but still wagged its tail at me.
Clarissa and Phoebe stood aside, watching coldly:
"Oh, this is your dog? We thought it was a stray that had wandered into our territory."
"Why are you still here? Didn't Magnus tell you to leave?"
I stood up and slapped Clarissa hard.
But the next moment, a slap landed on my face...
