Magnus's expression froze, his face suddenly stiffening as a surge of dark fire erupted in his eyes. How could this woman be here?
Soon, his gaze turned cold and heavy, his entire aura becoming sharp and cutting. Helena beside him inexplicably shivered, looking at the man and realizing something was wrong. "Magnus, what's the matter?"
Seeing that Magnus didn't answer, she followed his line of sight and immediately saw my figure too!
Helena was inwardly shocked, her body trembling uncontrollably, nearly spilling the wine glass in her hand. Her gaze locked onto me, her face full of shock, her heart unable to believe it.
Helena bit her lip hard, a strong sense of unwillingness and jealousy rising in her chest.
When she turned to see Magnus staring intently, the sourness in her heart flowed out even more intensely.
Harrison, who hadn't yet left, also noticed Magnus's change and curiously glanced back, somewhat stunned.
It was an unfamiliar face he'd never seen before, but her temperament and appearance were so dazzling they couldn't be ignored.
He withdrew his gaze and smiled at Magnus: "What's this? Does Mr. Evermere know this lady, or are you... interested in her?"
A cold snort escaped from Magnus's nostrils, his expression contemptuous, his tone extremely icy as he replied: "Mr. Grant is overthinking. How would I know her?"
My indifferent gaze briefly swept over Helena. His first love was right beside him—what point was there in acknowledging his ex-wife... Taking the initiative to greet him would only make me seem presumptuous.
Having figured this out, I immediately felt at ease. I even turned around and walked in this direction on my high heels.
Of course, I was heading for Harrison.
Magnus watched me approach another man step by step, my gown like a blue ocean creating ripples, breathtakingly beautiful under the flowing lights.
Six years ago he had watched me marry Julian, and today he could only watch me voluntarily approach other men.
Seeing Magnus claim not to know me while his gaze never left me, Helena couldn't help but clench her fists, digging her nails painfully into her palms.
Beyond her overwhelming jealousy, a trace of coldness passed through her, her eyes gradually darkening.
I ignored Helena's stare—what could she possibly do to me in a banquet hall like this?
But suddenly I heard her ask tentatively: "Ophelia, is that you?"
Her voice was neither loud nor soft, but sufficient for everyone nearby to hear!
The crowd was stunned.
That name seemed to be... Mr. Evermere's ex-wife?
Consequently, they looked over with surprised expressions.
Harrison had been puzzled when he saw someone approaching to strike up a conversation.
After hearing Helena's words, he gradually recalled the old affairs of the Evermere family.
A trace of amusement crossed his face as he casually slipped one hand into his pocket, watching the drama about to unfold.
