                    Crash!
Magnus angrily swept the teacup from the table, shattering it to pieces.
"What did you say? Ophelia's mother is dead?"
The security guard handed him a death certificate. "Yes, sir. Mrs. Evermere's mother passed away a month ago. Mrs. Evermere handled the funeral personally."
Magnus stared at the death certificate in disbelief, checking it repeatedly. "How is this possible? Why don't I know anything? Why didn't Ophelia tell me?"
The guard hesitantly glanced at Magnus, then said: "Mrs. Grimwald died on the day you were celebrating the Davis sisters' birthday."
"When Miss Clarissa was burned by the fireworks, you rushed her to the hospital and called in all the specialists for consultation."
"Mrs. Grimwald didn't receive timely medical treatment, which led to her death."
"We checked Mrs. Evermere's call records—she called you many times that day, but all calls were rejected."
Magnus staggered, nearly falling.
The guard steadied him and continued: "Mrs. Grimwald had been dependent on our company's special medication to maintain her life. Ever since you transferred those medications to the Davis sisters' father, Mrs. Grimwald hadn't received the medicine she needed for nearly six months."
Hearing this, Magnus's heart began beating uncontrollably.
He asked in a trembling voice: "Still no news of her?"
The guard replied: "We've increased personnel for the search, but still haven't found any trace of Mrs. Evermere."
"We only know that someone spotted a helicopter near the mansion that night, but it was dark and we were busy fighting the fire, so we didn't pay attention."
Just then, Clarissa and Phoebe strutted in carrying shopping bags, looking like perfect trophy wives.
They walked over in high heels, swaying their hips, pressing close to him from both sides.
"Magnus, what's wrong with you? How could you leave us alone abroad? Don't you know how scared we were!"
"You don't know what we went through to get back. If we didn't love you so much, we couldn't have done it."
Magnus looked coldly at their luxury purchases.
He coldly signed a check, threw it in their faces, and said flatly: "Get out."
The sisters froze, staring at him in shock.
"Magnus, what do you mean?"
Magnus looked at their identical faces with nothing but disgust.
Now, all he could think about was his Ophelia. He missed her terribly—
He wanted to see her smile again.
He wanted to see her playing with her dog in the yard.
Then he suddenly remembered they had eaten her dog.
His irritation with the Davis sisters intensified. He smiled bitterly: "Stop pretending to be innocent. You know what I mean. You just wanted to marry a rich man, so you played hard to get."
"I've already given you what you wanted. Now leave."
"Don't show your faces again. I don't want to make Ophelia sad."
Clarissa stood up in disbelief. "Magnus, didn't you say you loved us?"
"Didn't you divorce Ophelia? Why are you driving us away?"
"Did Ophelia say something to you? Did she threaten you?"
The next moment, Clarissa's cheek stung with pain.
Magnus calmly flexed his wrist, his eyes ice-cold. "I told you to get out. Are you deaf?"
"You're just cheap toys I used for entertainment when I was bored. Did you really think you were noble women?"
Then he nodded to the security team, who immediately grabbed the sisters and threw them out.
The Davis sisters pounded on the door like madwomen. "Magnus, there must be some misunderstanding! Let us in! Don't abandon us!"
Magnus's irritation intensified. He ordered security to pack up all their belongings and throw them outside, then restore the bedroom to its original state.
But unfortunately, many items could no longer be purchased anywhere.
Looking at the empty house, he felt anxious. He ordered the guards: "Find me a dog."
The guard looked confused.
Magnus said harshly: "A dog! Are you fucking deaf?"
"Find one exactly like Mrs. Evermere's. Do it now."
The guard immediately left to comply.
Just then, the butler respectfully handed Magnus an invitation.
"Sir, the head of the Hayes family is getting married and sent you an invitation."
Magnus took it, frowning. "Julian Hayes? The Boston billionaire?"
As he spoke, he casually opened the invitation, but when he saw the bride's name, his breathing suddenly stopped.
