Ishani sat on the plush sofa in Aarav’s penthouse, absentmindedly scrolling through her phone. The tension in the air was heavy, almost suffocating. Ever since she started receiving those anonymous messages, nothing had felt normal.
Aarav was in the study, talking on the phone. His voice was sharp, calculated. She couldn’t make out the words, but she knew one thing—he wasn’t letting this go.
She exhaled, rubbing her temples. The case was spiraling into something far bigger than they had imagined. Someone powerful was behind this.
Her phone buzzed with a notification.
Unknown Number: "Stay out of this. Or you’ll regret it."
A chill ran down her spine.
She clenched her jaw, her grip tightening around the phone. Who the hell was this?
Her hands trembled as she opened her laptop and began going through the case files. If she was being threatened, it meant she was getting close to something. Something someone didn’t want her to find.
Footsteps approached.
Aarav walked into the living room, rolling up the sleeves of his shirt. His expression was unreadable, but his eyes were darker than usual.
"Mujhe yeh bilkul pasand nahi aa raha," he said quietly. ("I don’t like this at all.")
Ishani looked up. "Kya?" ("What?")
Aarav leaned against the counter, crossing his arms. "Jo bhi tere peeche hai, uske paas power hai. Woh sirf dhamkiyan nahi de raha—woh evidence bhi erase kar raha hai." ("Whoever is after you has power. They’re not just sending threats—they’re erasing evidence too.")
Ishani frowned. "Matlab?" ("Meaning?")
Aarav exhaled, rubbing his temple. "Last forensic report gayab ho chuki hai. Sirf tere messages hi nahi, jo bhi evidence mil raha hai, systematically delete ho raha hai." ("The last forensic report has disappeared. Not just your messages—all the evidence is being systematically erased.")
A lump formed in Ishani’s throat. "Yeh toh aur bhi dangerous baat hai." ("That makes this even more dangerous.")
Aarav nodded. "Aur mujhe yeh bilkul pasand nahi ki tu iske beech mein hai." ("And I don’t like that you’re in the middle of this.")
🔥 His voice was low, controlled—but there was something else hidden beneath it. Something dangerous.
Ishani swallowed, ignoring the way her pulse reacted. "Mujhe forensic lab jaana hoga," she said, her voice steady. ("I have to go to the forensic lab.")
Aarav looked up sharply. "Abhi?" ("Right now?")
"Yes. If the digital report is gone, the original physical copies might still be there."
Aarav clenched his jaw. He knew she was right. But something about this didn’t sit well with him. “Tu akeli nahi jayegi,” he said firmly. (“You’re not going alone.”)
Ishani sighed but didn’t argue. She knew him well enough by now—he wouldn’t let her go alone, no matter what.
Aarav grabbed his car keys. “Let’s go.”
