The drive to the university was silent, thick with tension. The streetlights cast fleeting shadows inside the car, illuminating Aarav’s sharp profile.
His grip on the steering wheel was tight, his jaw locked. He was thinking, calculating. This wasn’t just about a case anymore—it was bigger. More dangerous.
Ishani, lost in her own thoughts, glanced at him. The cold, distant Aarav was gone—this was the man who would burn the world to protect her. ❤️🔥
She quickly looked away. What the hell was that thought?
"We need to be careful," Aarav finally said, breaking the silence. "If someone doesn’t want us to see these files, they won’t make it easy."
Ishani nodded, her fingers tightening around her bag. "Let’s do this."
The forensic lab was eerily quiet at night. Only the dim glow of emergency lights guided their way as they entered the records room.
Ishani scanned her ID. The door clicked open.
Inside, rows of locked cabinets lined the walls.
Aarav stayed by the door, scanning their surroundings. His entire body was tense, on high alert.
“I need to check the case files,” Ishani whispered, moving toward the main computer.
Aarav nodded. “Jaldi kar.” (“Hurry up.”)
Ishani searched for the missing forensic report.
Nothing.
"Damn it," she muttered. “Files delete kiye gaye hain.” (“The files have been deleted.”)
Aarav’s brows furrowed. "Pura system check kar." ("Check the entire system.")
She bit her lip and dug deeper into the database.
Then—she found something.
A hidden folder labeled ‘ARCHIVE_RESTRICTED.’
Her heart pounded. She clicked on it.
A message flashed on the screen: “ACCESS DENIED.”
She entered the administrator override code.
ACCESS GRANTED.
The missing forensic report appeared on the screen.
She barely breathed as she opened it.
And then… her blood ran cold.
The report wasn’t just about the recent deaths.
It contained evidence of tampering in old cases—cases Aarav had worked on.
“Aarav,” she whispered. “Tu yeh dekhna chahega.” (“Aarav, you need to see this.”)
He stepped behind her, his eyes scanning the screen. His expression darkened.
“This means…” Aarav’s voice was dangerously low. "Koi sab kuch erase kar raha hai taaki sach kabhi samne na aaye." ("Someone is erasing everything to bury the truth.")
Ishani swallowed hard. "Aur woh sirf forensic evidence nahi… tere past cases bhi delete kar rahe hain." ("And they’re not just deleting forensic evidence… they’re erasing your past cases too.")
Aarav’s fingers curled into fists.
Before he could react—
The screen went black.
Then, a message appeared:
“YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE DONE THAT.”
Ishani gasped. Aarav cursed.
And then—the room’s security alarm went off.
Someone was coming.
Aarav grabbed her hand. "We need to go. NOW."
Ishani barely had time to think before they ran out, sprinting down the corridor.
Behind them, footsteps echoed.
They weren’t alone.
As they turned a corner, Aarav suddenly pushed her against the wall, pressing his body into hers to hide in the shadows.
Ishani’s breath hitched. ❤️🔥
The footsteps passed.
Aarav didn’t move. His grip on her wrist tightened. "Chup," he murmured. ("Quiet.")
Ishani could feel his breath against her skin, his heartbeat against hers. Too close. Too intense.
For a moment, the world faded.
Then, Aarav’s phone buzzed—a single message from an unknown number.
“RUN.”
Aarav’s eyes met hers, filled with something dangerous.
This wasn’t just about the case anymore.
This was personal.
