The city was awake before the sun.
By the time Aarav stepped out of his apartment, the streets were already buzzing with whispers. His name was everywhere. News channels had picked up the story—the hidden heir of Rohit Malhotra was now leading a legal battle against Rudra Seth.
"Aarav Malhotra ka asli chehra saamne aa chuka hai." ("Aarav Malhotra's true identity has been revealed.")
"Ek student ne ek underworld don ko challenge diya hai." ("A student has challenged an underworld don.")
"Kya Aarav Malhotra is battle ko jeet sakta hai?" ("Can Aarav Malhotra win this battle?")
Aarav smirked. "Jeet chuki hai." ("It's already won.")
But before he could step into his car, his phone buzzed.
UNKNOWN NUMBER: "Tu soch raha hoga tu jeet raha hai. Magar kabhi kabhi jeet bhi maut se badtar hoti hai." ("You think you're winning. But sometimes, victory is worse than death.")
Aarav's jaw tightened.
He knew that number. Rudra Seth.
His time was running out.
Malhotra Mansion
The meeting room was packed. Rohit and Asha Malhotra sat at the head of the table. Senior lawyers, intelligence officers, and political figures sat around them. At the far end of the room, Ishani stood, arms crossed, listening to every word.
Rohit leaned forward. "Rudra Seth has started using his political influence. The courts are being pressured."
Aarav scoffed. "Aisa kuch nahi jo main handle nahi kar sakta." ("Nothing I can't handle.")
Asha's voice was calm but firm. "Tu legally jeet sakta hai, par Rudra ke paas ek aur weapon hai—violence." ("You can win legally, but Rudra has another weapon—violence.")
Ishani tensed. "Agar usne physical attack plan kiya toh?" ("What if he plans a physical attack?")
Rohit's gaze darkened. "Phir sirf law nahi, power bhi istemal karni padegi." ("Then we won't just use the law, we'll use power.")
Aarav smirked. "Law bhi hamara hai. Power bhi." ("The law is ours. And so is power.")
The room fell silent. Aarav wasn't just playing defense anymore.
He was preparing for war.
Ishani's Apartment – Midnight
Ishani sat on the couch, staring at the files in front of her. Rudra Seth's illegal dealings. His connections to international smuggling. The hidden bank accounts.
Aarav walked in, his shirt unbuttoned at the collar, exhaustion evident in his eyes.
"Tu abhi tak jaag rahi hai?" ("You're still awake?")
Ishani didn't look up. "Soya toh tu bhi nahi hai." ("Neither have you.")
Aarav smirked, walking over to sit beside her. "Mujhe samajhna tha ki Rudra ki agli chaal kya hogi." ("I needed to understand Rudra's next move.")
Ishani glanced at him, hesitating. "Aur agar yeh sab kisi aur direction mein chala gaya toh?" ("And what if this all goes in a different direction?")
Aarav leaned in, his voice dangerously soft. "Agar tu mere saath hai, toh koi bhi direction sahi hai." ("If you're with me, any direction is the right one.")
Ishani swallowed. Aarav's eyes burned into hers—intense, unshaken.
He was close. Too close.
"Aarav..." her breath hitched as his fingers trailed up her arm.
Aarav smirked. "Mujhe pata hai tu kya soch rahi hai." ("I know what you're thinking.")
Ishani's heart pounded. "Aur agar main keh doon ki tu galat soch raha hai?" ("And what if I say you're wrong?")
Aarav leaned in further, brushing his lips against her ear. "Phir main prove kar dunga ki main sahi hoon." ("Then I'll prove that I'm right.")
Before she could react, his lips crashed against hers.
It wasn't soft. It wasn't hesitant. It was fire—pure, consuming. Ishani gasped against his mouth as his hands slid around her waist, pulling her onto his lap. Aarav kissed her like she was the only thing that mattered in the world.
And in that moment, she was.
The Attack
Just as they pulled apart, a loud crash echoed through the apartment.
Aarav's instincts kicked in. He grabbed Ishani, shielding her as the windows shattered.
Gunshots.
"Neeche jao, abhi!" ("Get down, now!") Aarav ordered, pushing Ishani behind the couch as he pulled out his gun.
Ishani's heart pounded. Rudra had made his move.
Aarav peeked over the couch—four men in black, armed.
"Khel shuru ho chuka hai." ("The game has begun.") Aarav smirked.
He wasn't running.
He was hunting.
