Noelle chose a gothic-style black dress with thin straps and a mid-length cut. Her flawless skin stood out against the dark fabric, creating a stunning contrast.
Petite and doll-like, with delicate features and bright eyes, she looked like a high-end doll when she wasn't speaking.
"Wow, she's adorable!" When Noelle stepped out of the fitting room, everyone in the store couldn't help but stare. It was as if a doll had come to life and walked out of a shop window.
Even Kimberly was momentarily stunned by her daughter's appearance. Seeing the way everyone's eyes were on Noelle, she felt a swell of pride. 'That's my daughter. She's truly something special,' she thought.
Noticing all the attention Noelle was getting, Leia bit her lip. Her heart burned with jealousy as she thought Noelle was just trying to show off.
Noelle, quiet and composed, was mesmerizing. But the moment she spoke, the mood shifted entirely.
"Mom! Look at me! What do you think? Does it look good?" Noelle called out cheerfully, bounding over to Kimberly like an excited child.
The onlookers, caught off guard by her sudden burst of energy, felt the charm she had just exuded fade slightly.
Kimberly didn't know whether to laugh or sigh. She thought Noelle was amazing in so many ways, but she was just too lively sometimes.
"This dress suits her perfectly, madam," one of the salesladies said with genuine admiration.
Kimberly nodded with a smile. Judging by everyone's reactions, it was clear the dress was a perfect fit. "We'll take this one."
"Thank you, madam," the saleslady said with a polite smile. "Including the earlier dress, the total comes to 680 thousand dollars. Would you like to pay by cash or card?"
"680 thousand dollars?" Kimberly blinked, caught off guard. That was quite the price tag.
The saleslady explained gently, "Yes, the dress your younger daughter is wearing is a Judy Zevon design. There are only three in the world, and one was purchased by the Princess of Verlia."
Kimberly forced a smile, glancing at Noelle, who was looking at her with eager anticipation. Not wanting to let her down, Kimberly took out her card. "I'll pay by card."
"Thank you very much," the saleslady said, beaming as she processed the payment.
Seeing Kimberly swipe her card without hesitation, Leia nearly exploded with frustration. The total bill meant Noelle's dress alone cost 490 thousand dollars, and hers was only 190 thousand dollars.
She had carefully picked her dress to keep the price modest yet impressive. Now, Noelle had effortlessly walked away with a dress worth over twice as much. It felt unbearably unfair.
But in a store like this, Leia couldn't say a word about prices. Revealing that she had been paying attention to price tags would ruin her carefully crafted image.
Left with no choice, Leia swallowed her resentment in silence.
After buying the dresses, the family continued browsing. Not long after they left, the store manager rushed in, looking flustered.
"Welcome back, Manager," the staff greeted politely.
The manager gave a quick nod and asked urgently, "Was there a lady with two young girls here shopping earlier?"
"Yes, there was. Why do you ask?"
"Which outfits did that younger girl try on?" asked the manager.
"Which one are you referring to?" a staff member asked.
"The shorter one—absolutely gorgeous, like a doll," the manager clarified.
"Oh, her!" The staff immediately knew the manager meant Noelle.
Chuckling, one said, "You should've seen her. She originally wanted to buy an entire rack of clothes!"
"Which rack?" the manager asked quickly.
"That one, over in the premium section," the staff member said, pointing it out.
"Perfect!" the manager said with satisfaction.
Taking out a piece of paper, the manager handed it over and instructed, "Package everything on that rack in her size and send it to this address."
Later, Kimberly took Noelle and Leia to several more clothing stores. Whether it was just her imagination or not, she noticed that the staff in these stores seemed unusually enthusiastic.
The moment they walked in, they were surrounded by eager salespeople.
Kimberly and Leia both picked up on something odd—the sales staff seemed to be especially attentive to Noelle.
"Miss, would you like to try this on?" one salesperson asked with a bright smile.
Noelle smiled back politely. "Sure."
"This set would look amazing on you too, miss," another added, holding up an outfit.
"Mm-hmm." Noelle nodded, unsure how to respond.
A third salesperson chimed in, "Miss, this is one of our newest arrivals. It looks like it was made just for you!"
"Oh..." Noelle replied, a little surprised.
"Go ahead. Try this one," they urged.
"Alright," Noelle agreed reluctantly, not wanting to seem rude.
"And this one as well!"
Noelle hesitated but finally sighed, "Okay."
Before long, she was surrounded by salespeople, all smiling like they'd hit the jackpot, treating her as if she were a walking goldmine.
"What's going on here?" Kimberly stood nearby, bewildered by the overwhelming enthusiasm directed at Noelle.
'Did the salespeople think Noelle was an easy mark because of her cheerful and somewhat naive demeanor?' she wondered.
Leia, on the other hand, furrowed her brow, her gaze locked on the crowd around Noelle.
She couldn't understand it either. The sales staff barely spared her a glance while fawning over Noelle.
'Are they blind?' Leia thought bitterly. 'Clearly, I'm the one who looks more like a proper heiress—a polished young lady with class. How can they ignore me and go crazy over that clueless girl? Have they lost their sense of judgment?'
Frustrated by the scene, Leia finally walked over. Forcing a smile, she said to the salespeople, "Excuse me, but we're not planning to buy this many clothes. You might want to put some of these back."
But the salespeople only smiled, unbothered by Leia's remark.
"It's no problem at all! Even if you don't buy, it's such a joy to have this young lady try on our clothes. She's a natural model," one of them replied cheerfully.
Leia could barely keep herself from rolling her eyes.
