Adriel took Elsie on a trip to the mall—partly for business inspections, partly to buy her a new wardrobe.
Given how rushed their return had been due to Vincent's situation, none of Elsie's belongings from abroad had made it back. So Adriel figured, why not just start fresh? Clothes, accessories—everything would be brand-new.
After finishing up in the clothing section, they made their way to the jewelry department.
Adriel gently brushed Elsie's hair and said, "Elsie, pick out anything you like. Go wild."
Elsie beamed and nodded obediently before happily bouncing off to browse.
Behind them, several sales assistants were already whispering in awe.
"Oh my god, is Mr. Anderson actually dating someone now? I thought he was emotionally unavailable."
"Lucky girl. He's seriously spoiling her—look at all those bags!"
"I know, right? I always thought he was all cold and businesslike, but turns out, he's got the boyfriend game down."
"But... isn't she kind of... slow? I haven't heard her say a single word."
"You think Mr. Anderson's into girls who aren't all there mentally?"
"In that case, slap me right now. Maybe I've got a shot."
"Dream on."
Their voices were growing louder, enough to drift over to Adriel.
With a single icy glance from him, the temperature in the room dropped ten degrees. One of his assistants immediately stepped in, voice sharp and clipped. "Gossiping during work hours? You trying to get fired?"
The employees instantly wilted.
"S-Sorry, we won't do it again."
"Keep your mouths shut."
"Yes, sir..."
They scurried off, thoroughly intimidated. Yep—Mr. Anderson might be doting on someone today, but he was still the terrifying executive they all knew.
Just then, Elsie came skipping back, decked out like a miniature royal—diamond tiara, layered gemstone necklaces, bangles, and rings on every finger. She looked utterly delighted.
And for the first time all day, Adriel's stern expression melted into something soft.
"You like them all?" he asked, eyes full of warmth.
Elsie grinned and nodded enthusiastically.
"Wrap it all up," Adriel instructed the manager.
The store manager was overjoyed. A sale like this? Rare as gold.
"Mr. Anderson, we just got a shipment of high-end earrings as well. Would you like to take a look?"
Elsie hadn't picked any earrings yet—probably because she always refused to let Adriel near the ones she already wore.
Adriel glanced at her, recalling how she'd rejected a pair he bought last time.
"No earrings," he said flatly.
The manager hesitated, but Adriel paused... then changed his mind.
"Actually, bring them out. I'll take a look."
Surprised but not about to argue, the manager quickly fetched the best of the best.
Elsie tugged on Adriel's sleeve and shook her head. She didn't want earrings.
But Adriel gave her a reassuring smile and patted her head. "Don't worry—they're not for you. They're for Noelle. She's been back in the family for a while now, and I haven't given her a proper gift. Time to fix that."
The second she heard they were for Noelle, Elsie's interest skyrocketed. She immediately joined in, helping Adriel pick something out.
Once the gift was picked, Elsie couldn't wait to deliver it.
"I miss Noelle," she gestured excitedly.
Adriel checked the time—4 p.m. "Her classes should be ending around now," he said, smiling. "Let's go surprise her."
If this had been the old Adriel—uptight, rule-abiding Adriel—he would've gently pried her off in a heartbeat.
But now? Rules be damned.
If Elsie was happy, that's all that mattered.
When Noelle picked up the phone, she was surprised to see it was from Adriel's number.
Even more surprising was that the first thing she heard was a flurry of cheerful "ya-ya" noises.
"Elsie?" she guessed with a laugh. "Are you the one calling me?"
Elsie was even more excited.
Adriel eventually took the phone from her and chuckled. "Noelle, did you just finish class? Elsie and I went shopping this afternoon, and we picked something out for you. If you're free, come meet us at the west gate."
"Really?" Noelle brightened immediately. "I just got out! Be right there."
"We'll wait."
Noelle practically skipped to the west gate. Sure enough, there stood Adriel and Elsie.
The moment Elsie saw her, she bolted across the pavement and threw herself into Noelle's arms.
Adriel followed at a slower pace, smiling. "It's almost dinner time. Wanna grab something together? Didn't you say I owe you a meal?"
"Yes!" Noelle lit up. "Meat, please."
"I'll let Eli know and have him join us."
"Great."
As Adriel called Eli, Elsie tugged on Noelle's hand and began leading her toward the car to show her the gift.
But just as they were about to climb in, a car suddenly screeched to a stop nearby, blocking traffic. The angry honking behind it was ignored completely.
Behind the wheel?
None other than Stanley—idol, public figure... and current delivery boy.
He had grumbled and cursed the whole time, but he'd still signed all 1,000 autographs.
He was halfway to the school when he spotted someone at the gate that made his foot slam the brakes.
One was obviously Noelle.
But the other...
