Leia was absolutely speechless. 'Does she have no concept of boundaries? She actually thinks she could move into my room, like she deserves it?'
Leia's frustration was bubbling over, but then a devious little idea began to form in her head.
She shot Noelle a sideways glance, watching as she looked at her with hopeful eyes. A sly grin slowly curled at the corner of Leia's lips. She nodded, her voice sweet. "Alright, just remind me at dinner, and I'll talk to Mom and Dad about it."
"Why do I need to remind you?" Noelle blinked in confusion.
"My memory's terrible, you know? I might forget," Leia said, smiling sweetly, though she was already scheming in her head.
"Okay, then!" Noelle smiled brightly, completely buying it and not pressing further.
"Mr. Anderson, what are you doing?" A servant saw Eli pacing in one of the empty rooms on the second floor and, curious, walked up to him.
"Oh! Nothing, just looking around!" Eli quickly backed out of the room when he noticed the servant watching him.
After arguing with his brothers earlier, he had been thinking, maybe he had been a bit too nice to Noelle.
But then again, when he really thought about it, he hadn't done anything outrageous. The house had plenty of empty rooms, yet he had put his sister in that damp, dark storage room.
He'd heard that living in such conditions for too long could make even the healthiest person sick. With that in mind, he decided to find Noelle a new room.
But, he was worried this might piss off his other brothers, especially Damon, whose gaze now felt like it was about to explode any minute.
As night fell, the Anderson family gathered around the dinner table. Everyone sat next to Leia, who had just gotten out of the hospital, so they were all fussing over her, placing the best dishes into her plate.
"Leia, eat more so you can get better faster."
"Leia, you love clam chowder, right? Damon's putting some on your plate."
"Leia, the fish is super fresh today—try some."
Meanwhile, Noelle sat alone on the side, not seeming to care. She happily piled food onto her plate and dug in.
While Noelle appeared unfazed, Eli had been watching her quietly and felt a knot forming in his stomach. After a moment of hesitation, he decided it was time to bring up the room issue.
"Hey, everyone, I need to talk about something." As soon as Eli spoke, all eyes turned to him.
Damon, with a dark look, asked, "What is it, Eli?"
Eli purposely avoided Damon's stare and said, "Noelle's room is way too damp, and it doesn't even get any sunlight. We should probably move her to another room."
"Heh!" Damon snorted, letting out a cold laugh.
Kimberly seemed to finally remember and smiled politely at Noelle, saying, "Alright, we've got plenty of empty rooms. Noelle, just pick whichever one you like."
"No need," Noelle said, puffing up her cheeks. She swallowed her food and added, "Leia already told me she's giving me her room."
The room went silent. Everyone's eyes immediately shot to Leia.
"Leia, you're giving your room to Noelle?" Everyone stared at her, utterly baffled and confused.
Leia slowly set her utensils down. Her eyes instantly reddened, and she nervously glanced at Noelle Anderson before forcing a smile. "Well, Noelle really likes my room, so I was thinking—"
Before Leia could even finish her sentence, Damon slammed his bowl down with a loud thud, shooting Noelle a glare. "What the hell? Noelle, who do you think you are? You want Leia's room? Are you out of your mind?
"You really think you're the princess of the Anderson family now? You've been bullying Leia just because she's too nice. Don't push me, or I'll knock some sense into you!"
The rest of the Andersons stayed quiet, but they didn't stop Damon. They just looked at Noelle with cold, disapproving stares.
Eli's face went pale. He stared at Noelle, his disbelief and disappointment clear. "Noelle, seriously? There are tons of empty rooms in this house. Why the hell do you want Leia's? You seriously can't stand seeing her happy, can you?"
Seeing the disappointment in Eli's eyes, Leia couldn't help but let a small, smug smile tug at the corners of her lips.
This was exactly what she wanted. 'Noelle, the idiot,' she thought. 'has finally become the target of everyone. She deserves every bit of it.'
Leia thought she was hiding her feelings well, but what she didn't realize was that her subtle smirk had been noticed by Adriel, who had been watching her.
Adriel's expression froze for a second. Then, his gaze sharpened.
Noelle, realizing that everyone was pissed, pulled a chicken bone out of her mouth, looking confused. "What's with all the anger? It was Leia who said she'd give me her room."
Damon sneered. "Noelle, don't try to act innocent! Why the hell would Leia just hand over her room to you?"
"Because I want to," Leia said, reaching out to grab Damon's arm. Her eyes filled with tears as she spoke in a calm, almost pleading tone. "Damon, don't yell at Noelle. It really is my decision to give her the room."
"Leia, are you serious? You're still defending her? Can you stop being such a doormat?" Damon snapped, his anger only escalating as Leia continued to shield Noelle.
The more Leia tried to explain, the more Damon seemed to hate Noelle. He was absolutely certain that Noelle had somehow blackmailed Leia into this.
"Damon, I..." Leia lowered her head slowly, but inside, she was feeling a sense of twisted satisfaction.
Just then, Noelle pulled out her phone and said, "Why is everyone acting like they're not hearing me? It was really Leia who wanted to give me her room. Look, I even recorded it."
"Recorded?" Eli blinked, stunned.
Everyone else turned to Noelle, completely shocked.
Leia's face went blank, her mouth hanging open.
