It's only then that Violetta looks in his direction. His eyebrows knit together at her growl. He shifts in his seat and averts his gaze. He has no fucking idea how difficult Violetta can be when she's upset and she is upset. With both of us. In my defense, how the fuck was I supposed to know he would turn out to be our mate? He started killing our wolves before our transition. The aftermath has been unfortunate, mainly because he refuses to see it.
I reach for the stack and flip the first page. In big, bold letters, the words Terms of Surrender are printed on the page. I glance over at my sister. She smiles. Just a little sly tug of her lips. Her eyes glisten, and she sits back.
"That's cute," she says.
"I think so," I agree.
I flip through the pages, not really taking anything in. Those fighting for a position in the treaty don't like it. I slide it over to her, and she takes it with enthusiasm. Sitting up and crossing her legs, she starts to flip through it. Every now and then, she lets out a little giggle. As she gets close to the end of it. The two missing alphas finally show up and take a seat. I'm trying to stay calm, but I know this plan of hers is going to shake us. Everyone present is going to see why we agreed she was the one to move away.
"Do your thing," she waves me off and continues to read.
"Good evening," I greet everyone.
"What the fuck is she doing here?" Alpha Ulisess asks.
"It's not a good look on you to bring a human fucker with you," Alpha Garrison adds. If Violetta takes offense to it, she doesn't show any signs. Arsen, on the other hand, turns his gaze on him.
"There are four positions left in the treaty," I remind them, and place my carrier on the table. I produced the four contracts and set them on the table in front of me. The others eye them.
"There were five positions last month," Alpha Torrance says, clearing his throat.
"Alpha Barnes was sworn in two nights ago," I inform them. Everyone glances in his direction and then back at me.
"The last time we were here, you were voted out," Alpha Garrison says. Violetta lets out a heavy sigh and slams the booklet of papers shut to look up at everyone present. They all glance between the two of us when she doesn't say a word. "That is the contract drawn up to have you surrender the city to the remaining allies. I think you'll find that the offer is very generous, Vince."
"I'm sure it is," I nod and slide the papers over to me. I lift them and toss them over my shoulder. "We all know that's not going to happen."
"Look you fucking fruit cake-" he snaps and stands pushing his chair back hard enough to send it flying.
Before he can reach for me, he cries out when Violetta slams one of the knives under her sleeves through his forearm in front of her. The black blade goes through the tabletop, keeping him trapped there. She places her hand on his head and presses him down on the table to keep him still.
"You were saying, Alpha Wolfe?" she smiles at me.
"Right," I look around the table to see them all staring at her. Arsenial licks his lips and shakes his head. I take a deep breath and stand. "As I was saying. There are four contracts left and before we leave tonight, I'd like for all of them to be signed," there's a shift from the rest of them. Their eyes flicker from her to me. "I've tried so hard to keep this simple, but I'm afraid that you've given me no choice. Blood Ridge will no longer remain a neutral party of the City. We will be initiating a combative force to lock down Magique until the hostile elements are moved away from civilian housing areas."
"What is this?" Alpha Ulisess asks.
"Stop interrupting," Violetta growls at him.
The sound that comes out of her is low, closer to an angry lion than the tiny bundle of rage that she is. I almost want to laugh.
"You have all made it clear that it's not peace you're after," I continue. Aresenial smiles and sits up. "My Acting Luna and I have decided that if it is violence you want. Violence is what you will get. She has a bit of a temper. It's the biggest reason why she was sent away, but she's home now, and I think it's wise to sit back. I advise you all to hear what she has to say. Vy?"
"Hmm?" she hums and tilts her head in my direction.
"Why don't you introduce yourself?"
"Yes, sir," she gives me a formal nod. Alpha Garrison growls when she climbs up to kneel on his back.
"I'm going to fucking kill you, bitch," he shouts.
"Hello, everyone," she ignores him. "I know you all already know who I am. Violetta Wilde. As of tonight, I will be the acting Luna of Blood Ridge."
"You're straight all of a sudden?" Alpha Frank asks me. Alpha Garrison groans when Violetta straightens up and starts to stand. He growls and tries to get out from under her as she digs her heels into his back. She steps off of him and onto the table. He immediately tries to get the knife off.
"I wouldn't," she says, putting her foot on it without looking at him. He reaches for her foot with his other hand, only to have her put those six inches of extra height through his wrist. He cries out, kicking his legs out as the heel slowly pierces through. "Ugh, these are my favorite red bottoms, you dick," she growls at him. "I hope for your pack's sake your filthy mutt blood doesn't stain them. Stay still and shut your fucking mouth."
I sit back and laugh because this is the sister I remember. She'd seemed so tamed since she'd moved back into the city. Since she moved in with mortals. I guess it's a skill she picked up on having to be a part of them for so long.
"Vy," I urge her to continue.
Her hostile demeanor fades, not just as a mask. I feel her calm, and then she smiles as if she weren't standing on the table with her heel through another alpha's arm. The sound Garrison's flesh makes when she lifts her foot makes all of us grimace. He cries out and tucks his arm to his chest.
"I'd like to introduce myself formally," she continues, until she's standing in the middle of the first table. "My name is Violetta Amari Wolfe. Some of you remember me from before my mother's demise. The rest of you who are new, welcome to Blood Ridge.
"Forgive me for being absent for so long. My father and I, we don't get along for obvious reasons," she motions to Alpha Garrison. "He sent me away, but as you all know, the world is changing around us. His reign over the city is coming to an end. You are probably confused about my position as Luna of Blood Ridge. Let me clarify things a bit.
"Vincent and I are twins," they all glance between us. "We have been separated for some time, and it's probably going to take us a while to get reacquainted with one another. However, the two of us are two halves of a whole, and from here on, we will be acting as one.
"There will be no surrender. This city belongs to us. You are all guests here—allies we've allowed to remain within our city to control its population of humans and vampires. But make no mistake. You are all expendable to us. This pushing the Wolfes out of the City stops now,"
