I promised to stop at the garage after dropping up the deadweight tied up in the back. I pull into the clearing where Perry and Roman are waiting. Baby has finished building the structures. The guards here suck. These things aren't exactly small and she started this after noon.
"Hey, do you remember when we went to Rio with Savage?" Perry asks.
"Yeah," I snort. That was a great trip.
"Tell Baby what he did," she laughs.
"He popped six mollies, dove off the twelfth-floor balcony into the pool, and broke his arm," I shake my head. We were lucky that's all that happened to that idiot.
"I told you," Perry nods.
"That shit was wild. I really thought he was going to die," I laugh. "We all just stood there for a second before running to the balcony."
"Knight was like, this bitch really jumped." Perry laughs. "When he shouted, I think I broke my arm, I completely lost it."
"Asshole held up his arm and it was folded mid arm," I shiver.
"That's insane. I couldn't believe it. The Alpha King is a party boy."
"The ultimate party boy. The only one who can party harder is Knight, and since he almost died, he's been detoxing."
"Yo, how wild is it that this fool is a whole ass dad?" Roman snorts. "Knightly fucking Blake is a dad."
"He certainly had a type," I look up at Perry.
"Fuck you. I never saw him that way,"
"Okay, the tension between you two was insane the last time we were all enclosed in a room together." I remind her.
"No, for real. I tried to get in a couple of licks, and you guys just dominated the entire situation," Baby agrees. "One of the best days of my life."
"They always have. It's why Knight was demoted. He couldn't stop fucking fighting with you. You always distracted him, too." Roman adds.
"I hate you for putting that in everyone's head," Perry growls. "Go set up your bonfire."
I laugh, taking the rope she offers me. I will never stop thinking that those two were in love with each other. It was literally the highlight of working with them. Two sad fucks just loving each other with their misery. I low-key wanted that, and I'm so happy that my mate is a brilliant idiot.
Tonight was a massive step for us. He got a glimpse of what I do outside of the pack, what I've done to become the alpha I plan to be in my pack. Even if my brother hates it, we're from completely different worlds now, and I don't want to go back to the one that almost destroyed me. This, I chose this, and each piece of me that's chipped away has been because of that choice.
This is the first time I've let anyone in. I haven't shown my siblings or even talked about it to them the way they probably deserve. I don't think they'll understand, but I've seen what he's done. We have the same fucking lawyer for a reason.
"You good?" I glance back to see Roman coming over with a stapler in his hand.
"Yeah,"
"I forget you're strong as hell, tiny demon wolf," he pats my head as I finish tying the rope around the wooden pole. He staples it into place.
"Carry the fat fuck for me?" I tap his chest.
"Fine," he agrees.
"Are you okay with this?" I ask him.
"Killing pedos is kind of a pastime for me," he shrugs.
"Doing god's work," I laugh and pop the trunk with my key fob. "I mean, Knight being King."
He pauses from tugging the body out and shrugs.
"I don't see why I wouldn't be," he pulls Turner out and tosses him over his shoulder. "I wouldn't be a good king."
"I beg to differ. You're a good team leader."
"Yeah, but it's not the same thing as being the king. I also like being out on my own. No security and the politics," he shakes his head. "The only person I want looking over my shoulder is probably leaving me to be a pack wolf."
"You're still going to be on the council, you ass." I am praying that Baby stays.
She could use all of this after everything we've put her through. She can be a kid finally. I love seeing her cute QuickHowl posts. I love the way my sister talks about her as if they have been best friends their entire lives. I want this for her.
"That's not the same thing as having to carry all that shit. I'm not king material. Knight seems kind of excited for it. The people need someone like him. They already want to suck his cock with all the music shit. You know we love it when our coked up icons get their shit together."
"Dude, this asshole is going to the Rogue King," I laugh. We grin and start to tie Turner to the crosses that were made for this.
"Ah, he's awake," he chuckles darkly. He slaps Turner a couple of times with a huge smile on his face. His eyes widen when he realizes it's us. I slap him across the chest. Tears swell and spill over toward his ears. "Was that a no?"
" Nah, he doesn't know what no means. That's what put him in this position, right, Turner?" I take the rope I left to haul him and throw it over the little structure Baby built.
Roman takes it and hauls him up. I give him a little kick so it falls into place at the top. He's panicking enough to mumble scream as loudly as he can. We head back up to meet up with the others. Perry is the last one to come over.
All I can think about is getting home so I can hang out with Barnes. I have to stash the Bronco and pick up Baby's bike. I'm probably going to have to get one of my own soon if this keeps up. I didn't have it in me to talk to Vince about this after what happened. He probably thinks I've stopped talking to him after he told me what they did to one another. I probably should have.
"You coming?" Perry asks.
"No," I shake my head. Where did they agree to go? "I still got pack shit to do."
"I'll take Baby with me," Roman says. "See you back home."
"Be careful," I agree.
The flames go up, and I can't help the warm feeling that comes over me. This is the first time we do this for us. To take back some of the bad shit we did thinking we were the good guys. How the hell did we end up on top after all that?
We've been trying to destroy ourselves and those around us from the moment we sold our souls to the old man. " Deserve" isn't a word I'd use to describe what I'm looking forward to. I'm a taker and I'm going to keep doing what I do best until my last breath.
