"How are you moving everything so fast? You just got here," Alpha Barnes glares at me accusingly. "Twelve to one? Recruitment takes time. Are you inviting rogues into the pack lands?"
"I like to work," I shrug. "I know a lot of people and their situations. I'm an alpha. I like to control shit and telling people what to do and how to do it is my expertise.
"You know, traditionalists preach to their packs day in and day out. It's stopped being a religion a long time ago. It's just a cult now. Some people want out. And some people need out.
"They have to go somewhere, and they know I can protect them. We also have a traditionalist raised alpha. I also know a few who have been wanting to relocate for a long time now. It kind of pays off when you're not running around being an ass to everyone."
"I heard you like to go into coven caves to take vamps out for sport." Baldy sits forward as if to get a better look at me.
I bet he's still stuck on my height. I'm currently enjoying my reputation. I hate it when my dad and Vince make me feel guilty about it. Maybe I should just tell him.
"I don't like it. I had to do those things. Do or die. I got in with some bad people for a while, and it wasn't easy to get out of it. Many of the jobs I was given were beneficial. So, I also made a lot of friends. It came in handy when I came home."
"Vy, this is Kyle Dahlia. VP of our bike club," he introduces him.
"Kyle Dahlia, who stole fifteen million dollars from Darren Phurry? That Kyle Dahlia?" I laugh.
"The very one, and I had help from a cute nerd girl from Thorne Labs."
"I know. I had to kill her," I cross my arms over my chest. "No witnesses. She saw some stuff she shouldn't have."
"By the moon," he huffs. "This bitch said no witnesses. What about me?"
"It wasn't your name or IP address on the trace. I might have done it, but it was on you for making her do it for you. Remember, every choice can be a consequence you know you're doing shit you shouldn't be."
"You know Samantha Conolly. Sargent Sam. She's our weapons specialist," he continues when his V.P. can't bring himself to say another word. "Amelia Kennedy. Secretary. Richard Harrison. Captain. Ashton Greene. Our top enforcer."
Amelia is slightly taller than I am. It was the first thing I noticed when they surrounded me. She is petite and very curvy. Beta female. Her dark hair is cut short. Just long enough at the front to cover her left eye. It's deeply scared. She's wearing a fitted pleather mini skirt with a pleather vest that covers her heavy breasts. What skin is exposed is covered in gorgeous tattoos. The colors blend seamlessly into the black outline. She's beautiful.
"What happened to your eye?" I ask.
"Pepper Wolfe," she says quietly.
I smile because that's my sister. Let's go. I thought she was just hella perky. I'm glad there's a little shit in all of that after all. It's probably why Baby took a liking to her. This is a great feeling. It's been a minute since I've felt pride. The last time was when Perry came out of the psych ward looking brand spanking new.
Richard Harrison is completely out of place here. He's wearing soft gray slacks with a baby blue polo. His short blonde hair is styled with a side part, and a pair of expensive AI prescription glasses sit on his face; however, because of Knight. I know not to judge a book by its cover.
Sure, on stage, he's your typical rock star with a sexy gimmick. He was alpha and flaunted it. Team Leader Alpha 001 was a complete brainiac, and because of Alpha Blake's influence, he dressed like a total tool. I'm glad Phoebe is going to be dressing him from here on. It wasn't easy designing his costumes.
Ashton Greene is the oldest here. That much is obvious by the nonchalant way he's watching all of us. His aura is relaxed. He's huge. Almost as big as Arsen himself. He's wearing dark jeans and a plain white t-shirt under his cut. His boots are worn down to the steel toe. His beard hides the gentle look in his eyes.
I glance at Alpha Barnes to see him watching them as if he's expecting something off to happen. Does he know that what he is doing is off? I think they're just as confused about this as I am. He's not going to change his mind now that we've all seen each other and have our scents. I might as well give him what he wants and get on with this. I clear my throat and stand up. He instinctively sits up as if to stop me from running away. I smile and wave him back.
"Relax," I roll my eyes. "Violetta," I introduce myself and go around the bonfire, shaking everyone's hands. "I prefer Vy. Please, don't call me Violet. That was my mother's name and I kind of hate her for being an asshole. It's cool meeting you guys. I didn't think I would be able to do something like this with Presidente Barnes for a long time."
"Okay, why is she as chill as she is and the other big one has a whole stick up his ass?" Kyle asks.
"For starters, you guys started it," I remind them. "And because up until just recently, I was a rogue. My dad disowned me because I'm not traditional enough for him and swore I was going to get myself killed the way my mother did. You motherfuckers were being mean to him while my father was beating the shit out of him for letting me go."
"Vy," Alpha Barnes growls.
"You can ask me to let it go, but I never will. You're going to live to regret it soon enough," I drop back into the bean bag. "This is a very nice touch. I'm going to suggest it to my team."
"You're okay with this?" Samantha asks. The question is clearly directed at him. It's starting to bother me how close they seem to be. I'm going to need some clarification, or she's going to end up a lot worse than the little scar on her cheek that is still very fixable. "A dirty little secret."
"What do you suggest we do, Sam?" Alpha Barnes asks her. He doesn't seem bothered or embarrassed by her reaction. "She's right. We fucked up and these are the consequences.
"Violetta is my mate. Until I can figure out how to get on Alpha Wolfe's good graces, this stays between us. I need you all to know her. She's a little shit and it wouldn't surprise me if we crossed paths with her. We're friendlies with the former rogue now Luna of Blood Ridge. Got it?"
"Aye," they all answer.
"Did you two fuck?" I ask. They all laugh except for the two of them.
"She's my father's illegitimate daughter," he says. "My only sister, and it would be great if you don't tell my mother about this. She'd hunt her."
"I like to work," I shrug. "I know a lot of people and their situations. I'm an alpha. I like to control shit and telling people what to do and how to do it is my expertise.
