The room is filled with tension, and Perry isn't helping by messing around with the King. How does the man get anything done with her around? There were times when I needed to tell her to shut her mouth and do some kind of activity so that I could focus on the mission.
I can't bring myself to look up because now her little game is in my head. I am the smallest person here, and they're all laughing the same way she is, just in their heads. They're thinking it, I know they are.
I stand up to greet everyone, and I hear Perry burst into laughter because she claims it doesn't really look like I moved much on the security cam. I pop my neck and look up at the camera with a glare. Thank the moon that Jonas has the decency to mute the call. I smooth my hand over the front of my skirt and pray she sees the many ways I wish I could strangle her at the moment.
"Good morning, everyone. Thank you for taking some time out of your busy schedules. Today, we are joined by representatives of our board of directors for the first time here in Magique City. My name is Violetta Wilde, and I am your acting Chief Executive of the Magique branch, representing Jonas and Pernicious Prince. As well as myself as a director.
"The Lycan King and his mate are watching," I point at the two cameras in the room and then tap the glasses. "As well as listening. We want to start with all of you introducing yourselves."
"Tell them to do a little dance. Like it's an audition," Perry's voice rings in my ears.
"Perry," I hear the King growl. I press my lips together to keep myself from laughing. "Continue. I'm muting it."
"Let's start here," I point at the Lycan beside me and take a seat.
The young man stands. I have to lean back in my seat and even adjust my glasses to look up at him. For a moment, I hear laughing in my ears before it cuts off. I fucking hate her sometimes. How is she one of the most powerful women in the entire world and still as immature as she is? Seriously, Perry. Get your shit together, dude.
"Thank you, Miss Wilde." Wow. Not only is this guy maybe six feet ten inches tall, but he has the deepest voice I've ever heard. I rest my elbow on the armrest to cover my mouth. "My name is Marcus Gallant, and I am here as Vice President of the Technicians department on behalf of Roman Vivaldi."
Are all of them in on this, making Vy look like a toddler game?
"Thank you, Mr. Gallant."
Each one introduces himself as a representative of each owner on the new Lycan Tech board of directors. They take up the space on the left side of the table. I push the glasses up the bridge of my nose and turn to face Alpha Barnes. He clears his throat and stands.
I'm just now noticing that he's wearing a suit. One perfectly tailored to his shape. His hair is slicked back. He's wearing an exquisite watch and a few matching goth rings. No tie, but the button is completely done to cover up some of the tattoos on his neck.
He looks like a completely different person, and yet, not that different at all. He looks amazing. This is a misfortune of my own making. Fear has really done something insanely messed up to me because no one in their right mind would let this man be walking around without their claim on him.
A weird part of me wants to stash him somewhere no one and nothing can ever find him.
"Good morning," just those two words make my skin break out in goosebumps. "My name is Arsenial Barnes, and I am here on behalf of Violetta Wilde as CFO of the Lycan Tech's MC region. This is my team."
He doesn't sit down, but he moves enough so that I can see. The first wolf stands beside him. He's dressed similarly to Alpha Barnes. He's smaller than him by a few inches, but he has a dominating presence. His brother. They have the same forest green eyes and light brown hair.
"Good morning. My name is Colt Barnes. And I am the Treasurer of our team," he says politely.
His voice is deeper than Alpha Barnes's, but there's something about it that rings a certain way. As if he were scared to be here. Maybe forced. Alpha Barnes may have mentioned that one of his brothers is exceptionally good with numbers but that he was young and very lazy when it came to applying himself to anything other than violence.
The kid fancies himself a street fighter. Taking him to Nova and having one of the girls there put him on his ass should set him straight for a while. I loved it when I arrived there. The restricted area that now belongs to the Lycan territories was used as a Thunderdome. It was a lot of fun. It humbled my training by a lot. There was a whole lot I needed to do to catch up, but it didn't stop me from going there every weekend.
The third one stands, and I'm pretty sure he's one of his brothers as well. He's a bit on the young side. Maybe Perry's age or a bit older. His eyes are hazel, like his mother's, but his build is similar to that of the other two. He's a bit taller than Colt.
"Good morning, Miss Wilde. Everyone," he says with a very flirtatious smile. "My name is Howitzer Barnes, and I will be managing records and reporting back to you," he smirks at me. "Feel free to ask me for anything you need."
Alpha Barnes growls at him, but it does nothing to faze him. He sends a wink my way before straightening up as if he were innocent. The last one stands, and it's apparent that he's also his brother. This kid is definitely around Roman and Perry's age, and he's to the rage burning in his eyes just like them.
This one is a little different. The alpha gene may have been stronger than they were with the others. One of his eyes is emerald green, and the other is almost amber in color. Very beautiful. His hair is almost as dark as mine. His demeanor screams, dangerous,
"Remington Barnes. My department will be order to cash," he doesn't meet my eyes or anyone else's. An enforcer in my office. Interesting. The four of them take a seat simultaneously. It's kind of impressive.
"That kid at the end almost killed Jordan," Perry informs me. "He has cute brothers, Vy. And they look competent. You should definitely score one."
