"You can't be talking to him like that. He already thinks that I'm here to try and take the alpha title from him," I scold Roman as we walk out of the packhouse.
"I don't understand why you let that motherfucker talk to you like that," he shouts back.
"Roman, he is the alpha. Whether you like it or not, this is his pack. He's also my brother."
"That doesn't give him the right to talk to you like you're a fucking criminal. No brother should speak to his little sister the way he does to you. I'd rather rip my fucking tongue out than make Ramona feel like she's somehow less than me. And you. You're my sister as well. Every time he talks to you like that, I want to fucking kill him."
I let out a heavy sigh to calm myself. The last thing I wanted was to cause a scene, but here we are, and everyone is listening.
"I understand where you're coming from,"
"Do you?" he scoffs. "I've known you for a long time now. I've never ever seen you lower your head for anyone. You can't possibly be happy here, Vy. That fuck is going to end up killing you, and when that happens, know that I will burn this entire place to the ground. That is how much you mean to me."
"Roman," I call after him as he storms out and takes off in my car. I forgot I gave him the keys.
"You need to choose where your-"
Without thinking, I turn around and hit my brother right in the mouth. He goes down and looks up at me angrily.
"He has absolutely no one!" I growl at him. "That man has saved my ass more than you have ever done shit for me. He's a kid, and today he showed more integrity than you have in your entire body.
"You keep saying that it was a mistake to bring me back, and I can tell you right now, Junior. I made a mistake thinking you would be fair. That you were still my brother and that you would keep the promise you made when I left.
"I left for you. All of it, I did it for you! Because you have always been my alpha. I don't have to get to know you, Vince. I know you already. You're just like him. You let him beat you, and you're trying to put me beneath you so badly it's chipping away at everything you are. I would rather leave than stay here with you. Get yourself killed, traditionalist. I'll take what's left when you're gone. The mistake was mine when I came back to your sorry ass."
"He's your father as well," he says, getting to his feet. "He gave you life."
"Yeah, he did, but it doesn't mean that gives him the right to suck the life out of me." I look him over and shake my head. I reach for my phone, and as I'm taking it out, I feel his boot hit my ass. I stumble forward, dropping it. I turn around to glare at him. "Let's take this outside, then. Let's get it out of our system once and for all."
I scoop up my phone to see that nothing happened to it. Not a single scratch on the screen or any dents on the corner that hit the floor. I take my hoodie off and pull my hair back with my scrunchie.
"I'm not going to hold back," he growls at me.
"Great, neither am I," I agree and set my things down so they don't go flying again.
"When I pin you, you're getting them both out of here."
"When you wake up from your little delusion, Baby is staying with us. You will let her into an open contract deal so that she can see her brother when she wants."
He comes at me without warning. I dodge his advances, but he's a lot faster than I gave him credit for. It might also be because he wants to prove that he's the best between the two of us. I'm not sure how to deal with him anymore, and if this is what it takes for him to back off and let me in, then I'm going to kick some sense into his big ass head.
I roll under him because his expression earlier was just perfect. I look back and kick his ass as hard as I can. He stumbles forward the same way I had. I don't hesitate to jump onto his back. I lock my arms around his neck.
"Get off me, you tiny asshole," he grips the back of my tank top to pry me off.
"What the hell is your problem, you massive gaping shit hole?"
I slam my fist on his head. He manages to grip my wrist. My grip slips, and I have to readjust. I wrap my legs around his neck and his arm. He doesn't let go of my arm. I place my hand flat on his face and shove so I can pull my arm out of his hand.
He pulls on my arm hard enough that if I didn't let go, he would have popped it out of my shoulder. I swing my legs up and I'm able to kick him in the face. I push off him, and he releases my arm. He doesn't hesitate to come at me again. I swing my legs up and push off the ground as hard as I can. I jump up and land on his back. He falls on all fours as I push off him and turn around to face him.
"Get up," I growl.
He stands up, and my mind swims. Images of training with the Rouge King flood my head, and I rush him. My shoulder connects with his stomach, and I reach for his legs, pulling them up toward me before slamming him to the ground. The wind is knocked out of him. I don't stop.
I recover instantly. I crawl up his body to grip the front of his shirt. My fist connects with his face over and over again before he's able to toss me off. He lets out a howl and shifts in a split second. I jump up on my feet and crouch, releasing my claws. He comes at me, and I rush toward him. I drop sliding down under his belly. I reach up, scratching him enough to show him I could have killed him before he knew what had hit him.
I quickly jump up on my feet and spin around as he comes at me again. I crouch, pulling back, and when he's close enough, I swing, connecting with his jaw. His wolf's head swings back with a sickening crack and high-pitched screech.
The wolf pulls away, and he shifts back into his skin. He's on all four, gripping his face as his jaw tries to right itself.
"You-"
"You what?" I shout. "Did you really just try to fucking attack me in your pelt? How fucking dare you?"
"You did this!" he roars and turns around to face me. Right on cue, the pups and my father come out of the pack house.
"He did this to you," I kick him. He falls over. "He made you weak." I stomp on his chest. Blood sprays out of his mouth. "Just like him." I kick him again. "Is this really the only way you're going to listen?"
"Stop it!" Pepper runs over to us and falls over him. "Stop fighting! Please,"
"I don't understand why you let that motherfucker talk to you like that," he shouts back.
