A knock at the door interrupts us once again. He groans, putting his hand up, motioning me to stay put and probably quiet while he sees what the hell they want this time. The guy from before jumps when Alpha Barnes all but rips the door open. I, myself, am annoyed by all these interruptions and our outburst.
"What?" he growls. I have to give the guy some credit for looking apologetic as hell.
"We have a problem at the docks, Sir," he lowers his gaze.
"Get out of my face," Alpha Barnes growls lowly. He flees. That's the only way I can describe how fast he disappeared. I expect him to slam the door shut, but he closes it gently and turns to face me. "Moonlight, I'm so sorry."
"I get it. You're working," I shrug.
"No," he shakes his head and comes over to me. "I'm sorry for thinking the worst. You didn't deserve that. You came in here upset, and I only made it worse."
"I'm as much to blame. It sounds like something a paranoid asshole would do. We can talk about this later. It sounds important," I wave it off. He lifts me onto the desk. This is the first time he's grabby without me trying to run away.
The way he's looking at me is crazy. He's fully given into the bond, and I can't even admit that I have a mate to those who should know. I don't want him to leave and I don't want to leave. I want to run away from home for a bit.
"It wouldn't hurt me if I stayed," he leans in. "All you have to do is ask."
"You can take me with you," I suggest. He searches my face, probably thinking I'm kidding. "I've taken you to my extracurricular activities."
His smile returns, and his hands slide up my thighs. He pushes his hand under my bottom and picks me up so we can be at eye level. I place my hands on his chest. Is there a trick to making him say yes? It can't hurt to play dirty.
I slide my hands up over his shoulders and lean in, pressing my lips to his. Remembering the first time I tried to steal a kiss, I go for it. I deepen the kiss, sliding one hand to cup the back of his head, so I can scratch him gently. He growls and tries to take over, but I grip his hair and pull back.
"I should go then," I clear my throat and pull back without taking my hands away from him.
"No," he sighs. "You're staying with me tonight. I need you."
Those three little words are my favorite. From anyone. I learned to live by them my entire life, and hearing them come out of my mate's mouth is something else. His tone is final. I can argue it, it would be fun, but that's not what I want to do, right now.
"Okay," I agree. He leans in for a peck and sets me down.
"Are you strapped?"
"Always," I grin. He smiles, big, cupping my face.
"You are the most beautiful when you're you being a menace. You know that?"
"So, all the time?" I laugh. He goes over to the drawers I had snooped into to retrieve the sticky notes and the guns I had discovered. Not the weirdest thing to stash in his office.
"You went through my things?" he asks.
"Yeah, I was looking for the sticky notes. Keep them on the top and I'll never have to look for them," I shrug, sticking my hands into my jacket pockets.
"Noted," he smirks. "You saw these and it didn't bother you?"
"You want to look through the compartments in my car?" I offer.
"I'd rather blow it up," he scoffs.
"Buy me something pretty to replace it, and I'll tell you where he lives so you can do it in his front yard."
"I've been hard for you since you walked past me outside. Stop pushing your luck," he squeezes my cheeks with one hand and kisses me hard.
He removes his cut and slips on a holster. I watch him prepare for a run and take two helmets off the wall. He offers me one that covers my face, and I take it. He slips his cut back on and takes my hand.
"Let me get some stuff from my car," I say.
He follows me as I pop the trunk and remove my jacket. I get a few things I think I might need, and my protective jacket. I toss my nice one in and take the backpack with my first aid equipment.
"You got a backpack?" he smirks.
"I always carry one when I'm being extra menacing," I zip up my jacket and put the helmet on. He smiles and pulls me with him to his bike.
I hate to admit this, but I've been dying to get back on this thing. I bet I can have Baby weaponize it for him. I would love that. He places his hands on my hips and turns me around to face him. He lifts me, and I wrap my legs around his waist, knowing what he wants. He gets on the bike and tips my head back until the back of my helmet is sitting on the handles.
"Don't squirm, Moonlight." he leans forward, letting out a low growl that vibrates everywhere.
I wiggle a little, lowering myself to get a little more comfortable. I rest my hands on my belly and give him a nod. My body breaks out in goosebumps when he starts the bike. I close my eyes, loving his scent in the helmet with me. I can hear the other bikes, and when I turn my head enough to see them, I feel a jolt of excitement.
Every time we come to a stop, he leans against me. Beverly is over the moon with how things are turning out tonight. If we kick some ass and get a good spanking, this will be by far the best date I've ever been on.
Once we reach the docks, he parks his bike and sits me up to remove my helmet. He takes a bandana from the little side pocket on his Dickies and ties it around my face. For a moment, he cups my face with both hands and smiles. The kind of smile every mate should give their other half at least ten times a day. That would be the bare minimum.
"All right, Moonlight. Stay behind me. If shit goes sideways, you're the first thing I'm picking up. Got it?"
"Yes, sir," I salute him. "I'm just here to enjoy the ride."
"What?" he growls. I have to give the guy some credit for looking apologetic as hell.
