I woke up with Justin’s weight on top of me. Opening my eyes, I saw him watching, smiling devilishly. “I figured one more round might be a good idea before the big match today,” he said.
I couldn’t imagine I would ever want to say no to Justin, but especially not now, when every time we had sex, I could feel myself growing stronger. I would be facing my final opponent, my own sister, and I’d need all the strength he could give me if I wanted to defeat her. And I wanted to defeat her more than I wanted anything except Justin.
“Yes,” I laughed. “You’re being so selfless right now. Fucking me for my own good.” He laughed too, easing into me.
“My mate, you always feel so good,” I moaned. “I can’t believe I lived this long without feeling you inside me. My perfect second chance.”
Justin kissed me sweetly. It was so unlike the brutal, biting way his mouth had met mine that first night together. I wrapped my legs around his hips, pulling him in deeper. I had never imagined that sex could be such a loving thing, something shared between two souls.
“I waited, too, remember,” he said, and then leaned down to pull my earlobe between his teeth. “It’s like I knew no one but you would be good enough.” And somehow, he found a way to get closer to me, reaching deeper inside.
Justin’s praise made both the human and wolf sides of me hum with happiness. Of course, it felt good to be wanted by my mate, but it was more than that. I had been raised by parents who couldn’t stand to look at me, who only kept me around out of obligation. My sister hated me and stole what I thought was my only chance at happiness.
Justin’s words made me feel loved and cared for in a way I had never experienced. Defeating Diana today would show my family I was better than they knew, and it would prove I was someone Justin could be proud to call his mate. I needed this win, desperately.
“You’re incredible,” he rumbled in my ear, like he’d read my mind. He sucked a hot, wet mark into the side of my neck, grazing his teeth just enough so I could feel them, but not breaking the skin there. I wanted him to break skin.
Let’s show him how it’s done, I thought to Joy, who had been resting just below the surface this whole time. Whenever Justin fucked me, the wolf would be right at the edge of things. She loved him as much as I did.
I let her loose, just enough to feel my claws extend. I reached up, and dragged them against the wide, solid planes of Justin’s back. I scratched him hard enough that I knew I’d be able to see the deep red marks for the next few days.
It was a delicious feeling, knowing I could mark him like this. I thought about the fact that if he took his shirt off during the games, everyone would see. Of course, he owned me, but I owned him, too, in a way, and everyone would know it.
Justin groaned, long and low. “Yes, little wolf. You’re obviously feeling better,” he growled. I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
He leaned back, pulling out just long enough to flip me over. He pressed a hand to my upper back, forcing my head and shoulders into the mattress as he sank back into me. He was done with being gentle, and I was more than fine with that.
I was happy to realize that all of the pain from the day before was gone, too. Justin handled me roughly, and all I felt was the deep thrill that shot through my veins whenever his hands were on me. I couldn’t believe what a miracle it was that our bodies together had this power.
Justin fucked me, hard and fast, for long enough that I got lost in the rhythm and feeling, half-convinced my only job in life was to be fucked like this, by him, forever. I would have lived happily in that state. Eventually, though, he was pulling me against his hips, thrusting hard and coming deep inside me.
Still buried inside me, he sat back on his heels, so I was resting upright in his lap. In one warm hand he cupped my breast, rolling my nipple between his fingers and sending little waves of electricity through my body, directly to my clit, which he worked steadily with his other hand. In just another minute, my own orgasm was coursing through my body.
I shuddered in his arms, and he whispered soothingly into my ear. “My sweet pet. My wolf. You incredible little thing.” He peppered the side of my neck with more sweet kisses.
Eventually, it was time to get ready for the day’s final event. I knew it would be a face-to-face match between myself and Diana, but I wasn’t sure what the exact rules would be. I was nervous, but feeling strong and confident.
“I’m really going to do this,” I marveled, reaching my arms high over my head just to feel the stretch. Justin grabbed at my sides, making me giggle. He was being playful in a way he hardly ever was. We were both feeling so happy about our fortune’s reversal from yesterday’s terrible events.
Justin POV
Helen and Justin parted ways in their room, so she could meet up with the officiants for the tournament’s final event. Justin made his way to the main grounds, where many people had already begun filing in. The crowd was full of people who had been watching all along, so they knew that this match between Helen and her sister was an important one.
Of course, being the winner of the Wolfen Games was a big deal, but the story of Helen the tricolor wolf no one thought would make it through one round facing off against her beautiful, powerful sister had taken hold of the audience. Most people wanted to see Diana succeed. She looked like a winner.
But there were plenty of people there who were hoping Helen would win. She was an underdog, and even though werewolves are drawn to the most powerful person–it’s how they choose the alphas of their packs, after all–there was still something exciting about the possibility that she would win.
Justin was in neither of those camps, as he wanted Helen to win, of course, but he was the only one who knew how powerful she had become. He was also the only one who knew about the change in her fur. They had talked about Helen waiting until she absolutely had to shift to reveal her changes, the element of surprise being one of her greatest weapons in this tournament.
Justin found a clear vantage point to be able to see the clearing where Helen and Diana would face off. He saw Diana enter first, looking strong and pampered but not necessarily confident. Of course, she had been following the events, so she had seen her estranged sister excelling in the games. Justin assumed she was just hoping that knowing her sister would give her an advantage no one else had.
Helen finally entered, and though she was still just in human form, it was impossible to miss how much she had changed over the course of the Wolfen Games. Her hair was gleaming, like spun gold in the morning sun, and there was no trace at all of yesterday’s horrific attack in the purposeful approach of her walk.
Alpha King Juden said some words of introduction that Justin was too distracted by his marveling to process, and then very quickly, Helen and Diana were facing each other as the milling crowd became more ordered and formed a circle around them. The chatter began to die down. The two women began to draw closer together.
It was hard to tell who really moved first, but suddenly they were on each other. Still in their human forms, the two women grappled, and though neither was a professional fighter, they were both strong and determined. Diana wrapped her arms around Helen’s middle and threw her weight into her. Helen stumbled backward, but kept her footing.
With Diana still crouched low from the previous maneuver, Helen was able to drive her knee hard into her sister’s chest, sending her sprawling on her back. The crowd erupted, many voicing their disappointment, but some cheering at Helen’s success. To win though, Helen would need to keep Diana on her back for 3 full seconds, but she was springing to her feet too quickly for King Juden to begin the count.
Nearly too quick to register, the figure that was the woman Diana suddenly shifted. In her place appeared a werewolf of pure white. She held her body low to the ground, snarling.
Helen froze. To anyone else, she would appear terrified. Justin knew she was contemplating her next move.
Before Helen had a chance to act, though, Diana was leaping, throwing her to the ground. It would only take one swift bite to Helen’s soft human throat, and it would be over for her. Not just the match, but maybe even her life.
“ONE!” King Juden begin to count. The crowd was in a frenzy.
“TWO!”
