                    Helen POV
My Lycan mate was already beside me when I failed onto my stomach, blood drizzling down my sides. It was hot and irony, sending waves of sharp pain through my spine and my flesh.
Justin forced the mountain lion away from my side, standing over me in his terrifying, half-man-half-wolf form. I blinked back spots. Randy’s wolf had joined his Alpha, charging the mountain lion in unison.
I sat up, crimson striking down my arms. Ezequiel shifted and joined the Alpha and Beta, fighting away the massive lion while Martha fell to my side.
She lifted me up, trying to edge me into moving, but I hissed a breath and sank limply into her lap.
“No, no, no, Helen!” She panted every breath, looking at my gruesome back. “What do I do? How can I help you? I don’t—I don’t—”
“Shh,” I breathed, Justin’s Lycan roaring behind us. “I’m fine, really.”
She shook her head, eyes wide as they traced my torn flesh. “It’s not fine, Helen. I can see your bones.”
I threatened to throw up, satisfied only when the three wolves finally took down the mountain lion. It fell into the river, blood washing through the currant. I hiccupped, my head spinning, my Lycan mate howling to the moon above.
Martha covered her ears and I tried to do the same, yelling out at such a small movement of my torn back. My cry out was enough to catch my mate’s attention.
He turned his vicious, hungry eyes toward me.
“Ezequiel, take your sister, now!”
Her half-brother whisked her away, ripping her from me as he drug her home, begging to be by my side. I hissed, trying to sit up, watching my mate make no efforts to shift as he charged over.
“No,” I panted, worried this had only set him off more than before.
Randy shifted back, standing in his way as he planted his palms into his chest. “Justin, no! You just told me you can’t mate with her like this, your Lycan isn’t thinking straight, you have to fight him.”
Justin snarled, shoving Randy back but the Beta still fought to make his way forward.
I sat up, seeing spots as my back bled profusely. I wavered upright, Justin pushing past his Beta enough to grab me by my shoulders.
He stood me up, turned me around, and held my hands behind me while he tore off the rest of my tattered clothes. He was staring at my wounds when I felt his erection bud against the inside of my inner thigh.
Joy howled in glee. She wanted this to happen.
I did too, of course, but Justin was against it.
Would it be wrong to allow it if his Lycan was already in control? Justin couldn’t stop him now and I didn’t want to—but I wanted Justin to make this decision, not his furious Lycan.
I ripped my arms free of his hold, his nails dragging down my wrists.
Randy caught me as I fell forward, both of us still stark naked. That fact didn’t help Justin’s Lycan calm down any. He growled through his fangs, wanting me like I thought I wanted him at the club.
I could see now on my wrists, dragged with little bleeding scratches from his claws, that I overestimated his strength.
“Justin,” I cried. “Please. Shift back.”
His Lycan stepped forward, biting at my words.
Randy yanked me backwards in response, my feet dragging nonsensically against the gravel rocks. “Alpha, stop! I will not let you hurt the Luna like this! You said it yourself on the porch just moments ago, you know your Lycan will hurt her!”
My mate snapped his teeth.
I flinched, hating seeing him like this. He was furious and greedy for my body. I might have wanted him in this form in the heat of our fun sex at the club but thinking about it now, my back bloody and his Lycan so rough, I realized just how fearful he made me.
My knees gave out. Randy hiked me to his warm chest.
“You stay here until you shift back,” the Beta bit at his Alpha. “You better shift soon, or I’ll come out here and give you the fight you want, Lycan.”
I shivered at Randy’s hostility. He held me as he walked back to the house, muttering nonsensically while I bled on his torso and all down his forearms.
“You really set him off this time,” Randy breathed, carrying me upstairs. He set me down in the bathtub and I used my arms to cover my breasts, pinching my thighs together in humiliation.
“Don’t even bother, Helen. I would never look or touch you in a way that would be disrespectful. You’re my Luna and my best friend’s mate. I wouldn’t look at you like that,” he hummed, turning on the warm water.
He flicked the shower on, water spraying from above and striking my body all over.
I shut my eyes, curling into a tight ball as blood ran down the drain around me in a murky, wet mixture.
I cringed, hearing the front door open and close on forceful impact.
Randy slipped on a set of jeans from Justin’s closet and stood in the doorway of the bathroom.
Justin faced him, out of breath and splotchy in a sweaty pink skin tone. “I’m fine now, Randy. It’s under control.”
“You bent her over in your Lycan form,” the Beta snarled. “You know what could happen if you were to do that, Justin?”
He nodded remorsefully.
My interest was piqued. “What could happen?”
Randy looked at me with a rough expression. I wiped my face of the shower water, fighting to sit up from my debilitating mountain lion wounds.
“What? I want to know.”
Justin stepped back, fighting his Lycan again. “I—I can’t—”
Randy nodded and we both watched my mate rush out of the room. He was furious and I felt it in my chest. I cried for him and Randy hissed a noise.
“No,” he barked. “You have to stop. He is fighting his beast and your moaning isn’t going to help.”
I shuddered with his abrasiveness. Why was this everyone else’s problem except for mine? I was the one who asked to be fucked by the Lycan half of my mate. If I wanted to take the risk, I would be the one to take that risk; not them.
I gritted my teeth and snarled a reply, “Then tell me what happens if he does it, or I will let him have me next time.”
Randy looked as threatened as my words had suggested. “You can’t let him have you in that form, Helen. Not anytime soon, at least.”
My brow furrowed. “What will happen?”
“If he comes inside of you as a Lycan, you will be impregnated by his genes,” Randy huffed. “You will get pregnant with more Lycans.”
I shuddered but I wasn’t so sure what the problem was with that. I already assumed that if Justin and I had pups, they would more than likely be Lycan’s anyways.
“It’s the only way he can have pups,” Randy explained. “If he does it while shifted, while your still mortal, he will get you pregnant.”
My eyes welled with tears but not in somberness.
With happiness.
“Pups with Justin—I would love that, Randy, why would you say it in such a negative way? We are mates, it’s natural for us to want to have pups in the future.”
“You have the Alpha King and your own father breathing recklessly down your necks to have the Last Lycan killed. What happens if there are more in the world, Helen?”
Just like that, my tears of delight went straight back to cries of horror.
