The night air was thick with tension as Lisa and Seulgi remained hidden in the shadows, their eyes trained on the warehouse where the Revenants were making their next move. The darkness provided cover, but it also concealed dangers lurking just out of sight. Lisa adjusted her grip on her gun, the weight of the mission pressing down on her shoulders.
"Three men at the back entrance," Seulgi whispered, barely audible over the wind. "Two more circling the perimeter."
Lisa nodded, her fingers tightening around her earpiece. "Jennie, we have a clear visual. The warehouse is more fortified than we thought. We'll need to take a strategic approach."
Jennie's voice came through, steady and commanding. "Hold position. We'll move in once I give the signal. No mistakes."
Lisa smirked at the familiarity of Jennie's no-nonsense tone. Even in the most dangerous situations, she never wavered. It was one of the many things Lisa admired about her.
As they continued their surveillance, Lisa's thoughts drifted back to the previous night-the way Jennie had let her guard down, even if just for a moment. It had been brief but powerful, and it left Lisa craving more. But there was no time for distractions now. They had a mission to complete.
The Infiltration
The team moved in seamlessly. Jisoo and Rosé covered the main entrance while Irene took point with Lisa and Seulgi at the back. They had rehearsed their plan down to every last detail, and now it was time to execute it.
Lisa took out the first guard with precision, her movements swift and silent. Seulgi followed, disposing of another without so much as a sound. The path was clearing, but the hardest part was yet to come.
Inside, the warehouse was filled with crates, weapons, and stacks of cash-evidence of the Revenants' growing operations. But Lisa wasn't concerned about their resources. She was concerned about their leader.
Jennie's voice came through once again. "Everyone in position?"
"Affirmative," Irene responded. "We're in."
"Proceed with caution."
Lisa and Seulgi took the left flank while Irene covered the right. They moved through the maze of crates, senses heightened, every breath measured. Then, just as they reached the center of the warehouse, they spotted him-Jared, the Revenants' second-in-command.
Lisa recognized him immediately. He was dangerous, ruthless, and entirely unpredictable. If they didn't take him out fast, they'd lose their advantage.
The Confrontation
Jared smirked as he turned to face them, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "Ah, the infamous mafia queens and their loyal watchdogs. I was wondering when you'd show up."
Jennie stepped forward, unfazed. "You're surrounded, Jared. Surrender, and we might let you walk away."
Jared laughed, slow and deliberate. "Oh, Jennie. You and I both know that's not how this works."
The moment the words left his lips, gunfire erupted.
Lisa dove behind a crate, firing back with precision. Seulgi took out two of Jared's men before ducking for cover. Jisoo and Rosé provided backup from the other side, their shots echoing through the warehouse.
Amid the chaos, Lisa caught sight of Jennie moving with deadly grace, dodging bullets and taking down enemies with terrifying efficiency. It was a sight Lisa had seen a hundred times before, but this time, something was different. This time, she wasn't just watching a leader in battle-she was watching the woman she was falling for.
The realization hit her hard, but there was no time to dwell on it.
Jared was making a run for it.
Lisa reacted instantly, sprinting after him. He was fast, but she was faster. She tackled him just as he reached the exit, pinning him to the ground. He struggled, but Lisa pressed the barrel of her gun to his temple, ending the fight.
"It's over," she growled.
Jared chuckled darkly, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. "You think so?"
Before Lisa could react, he pulled a small detonator from his pocket.
The warehouse was rigged.
Lisa's heart pounded. "Jennie! The building is wired-"
Boom.
The Aftermath
Smoke filled the air as Lisa pushed herself off the ground, ears ringing from the explosion. She coughed, waving away the thick dust as she struggled to get her bearings.
"Jennie? Jisoo? Anyone?"
Through the haze, she saw movement-Rosé helping a limping Irene, Jisoo pulling Seulgi to her feet. Relief flooded her, but it was short-lived.
Jennie was nowhere in sight.
Panic surged through Lisa as she searched the debris, shoving aside fallen beams and shattered crates. Then, she saw her-Jennie, trapped under a pile of rubble, unconscious.
"Jennie!"
Lisa was at her side in an instant, hands trembling as she checked for a pulse. Relief washed over her when she found one, steady but weak.
"Stay with me," Lisa whispered, cradling Jennie's face. "Don't you dare leave me."
Jennie's eyelids fluttered open, her gaze unfocused. "Lisa..."
"I got you," Lisa assured her, voice thick with emotion. "I've got you."
As the team regrouped and emergency extraction was called in, Lisa never let go of Jennie's hand. For the first time, the mission didn't matter. The war didn't matter.
All that mattered was Jennie.
