With trembling hands, I opened the surgical surveillance footage the tech team had just restored.
This was my first time—and possibly last—watching the complete surgery.
In the footage, my older son lay quietly on the operating table, everything proceeding orderly. Caspian looked focused, his movements skilled—the surgery was going smoothly.
He wiped sweat from his forehead, telling his assistant with a trembling voice: "Continue suturing. I'll check on the younger brother."
After he left, everything changed.
Alarms sounded, the EKG plummeted, and the OR erupted in chaos.
"Heart rate dropping!" "Blood pressure unstable!"
Several doctors immediately surrounded the patient for emergency treatment, constantly checking data and vital signs.
"Wrong anesthetic!" one doctor cursed, pointing at Quinn. "You used the wrong dosage! Are you insane?!"
But Quinn wasn't panicked—she looked up smiling.
"This is Dr. Williams's arrangement. He had me operate personally." She sneered. "Take any problems up with him."
The doctor trembled with rage: "This is malpractice! Step aside now! Emergency treatment—"
Quinn raised her hand to stop him while several medical staff who flattered her blocked the doctor.
"What do you think you're doing? Who do you think you are?" they mocked.
Quinn continued smiling proudly: "Didn't you hear? I said Dr. Williams told me to kill these little beasts."
"Luna Carter will be finished by Dr. Williams sooner or later. The whole hospital will belong to Dr. Williams, and I'll be the future boss lady."
"As long as I'm willing, I can bear him several children. These little beasts obviously don't need to stick around."
The doctor's face went pale with extreme anger, but helplessly stormed out: "You'll regret this."
Moments later, Caspian stumbled back in.
Seeing the heart monitor had flatlined, he froze in place.
Quinn had already thrown herself into his arms, crying pitifully: "I tried my best... I really tried... couldn't save the child..."
"Ms. Carter already hates me... she'll definitely think I killed the child..."
Caspian held her, face pale, silent for a long time.
Finally, eyes closed, he said: "This is fate... no one's to blame... I'll convince her."
The surveillance ended there.
I nearly collapsed, falling to my knees, crying out my children's nicknames over and over:
"Little Ethan, little Owen... Mommy's sorry, Mommy was wrong, Mommy shouldn't have let that bastard Caspian operate on you..."
At that moment, I finally couldn't hold it together anymore, wailing heartbrokenly.
The livestream comments exploded instantly.
[So it was true... she wasn't crazy or delusional—the children's father and his mistress really did kill his own biological children.]
[That bitch Quinn did it deliberately! Caspian Williams, you don't deserve to be called a doctor—you're an executioner!!]
[Ms. Carter, we're sorry, we misunderstood you before...]
[I cried when she knelt calling the children's names, my god]
[Please blacklist Caspian Williams nationwide!]
[Caspian Williams and Quinn must go to prison!]
The assistant doctor who had stormed out that day also came forward.
He appeared before reporters' cameras, eyes red-rimmed: "I can testify this surveillance is real. I personally saw her use the wrong anesthetic dosage..."
"I wanted to save the child but they blocked me... I really... I'm sorry..."
"Later Caspian forcibly labeled me with 'surgical negligence' and fired me. Quinn even threatened that if I dared tell Ms. Carter the truth, they'd make sure I could never work in medicine again."
"I regret it... I truly regret not standing up sooner to tell you."
Next, the hospital's surveillance system supervisor also spoke up.
He apologized tremblingly: "It was me... I deleted the surveillance following Quinn's orders. She said it was Caspian's personal arrangement, that this surgery didn't need records..."
"I didn't dare disobey them. I really didn't mean to..."
Watching them come forward one by one, my heart didn't soften at all.
My children could never come back.
This bit of truth, this bit of remorse—for me, it was too late.
