"And now you're mocking my wife as mentally ill right to my face. Vanessa, who gave you the nerve?!"
"Dec, what... what are you talking about? I don't understand..."
Declan had expected this response, so he'd had his assistant record video testimony from the funeral home staff.
Vanessa never imagined Declan would discover the truth about our baby's desecrated body. She was too panicked to speak.
"You knew how devastating our baby's death was for Raven, but you not only dug out her ribs—you crushed that bracelet right in front of her. Do you have any idea how heartbroken she was?!"
"Vanessa, you've been with me for years. You know I hate bullshit."
"I'm asking you once—besides the rib bracelet, what else are you hiding from me?!"
Vanessa shook her head frantically. "Nothing... nothing else..."
But Declan could tell she was lying.
He released Vanessa and grabbed Camden, his eyes blazing red:
"If you won't talk, then whatever you did to our baby, I'll make your son experience too. You get three seconds."
Vanessa's eyes widened in disbelief. She fell to her knees, sobbing:
"Dec, Camden's your son too! How can you..."
"I said I hate bullshit. One... two..."
Declan looked like a merciless demon from hell. Camden screamed in terror.
Just as Declan impatiently tore open Camden's shirt and picked up a fruit knife from the table, Vanessa finally broke:
"I'll tell you!"
"When I said our baby died because I accidentally dropped the toy car while cleaning it for Camden—I lied!"
"I knew Raven brought our baby downstairs at the same time every day. I memorized her favorite spot. So I practiced countless times to hit her accurately, then pretend it was an accident..."
Declan couldn't believe his ears:
"Why? I already promised Camden would be my only heir. What more did you want? She was just a baby—how could you do it? I thought you were really innocent, so I helped you... Do you know how many times Raven cried herself unconscious that day?!"
"So what?! You think I cried less than her over the years?!"
Having confessed, Vanessa went completely unhinged:
"Your mother made it sound so good—said once I had a son, you'd divorce Raven and marry me. But what happened?! I'm still just a hidden mistress, Camden's still a bastard, so what good is all that money?!"
"Raven only had a useless daughter. She's worthless—why does she get to keep the title of Mrs. Morrison? That was supposed to be my reward, what your mother promised me! If she dared compete with me, I'd destroy her!"
Declan stepped back in disgust:
"You're insane... A vicious woman like you isn't worth half of Raven."
"Hahaha... I'm vicious? Don't forget—you bribed the property manager to destroy the security footage. You had those men destroy Raven's uterus. What kind of good husband are you pretending to be now? Think Raven will forgive you if she finds out?"
"Think you can charm your way out of this like before? Dream on!"
The moment she finished, Vanessa regretted it.
Because Declan slowly gripped her chin, smiling chillingly:
"You're right. So I'll never let Raven find out."
"And you... you're the perfect tool to help me win Raven back."
Declan beating me to court was definitely unexpected.
Even more surprising—Vanessa confessed completely to deliberate murder and desecrating human remains.
On her first day in prison, she bit through her tongue and bled to death.
Camden was sent away, but seemed traumatized—got sick, fever damaged his vocal cords, and he could never speak again.
All of this was Declan's handiwork.
When I answered his call, Declan's voice bubbled with joy:
"Raven, I knew it—once you saw the news, you'd take my call."
"I know I wronged you before, but I got justice for our baby. Will you meet me? Just once?"
I said flatly:
"Sure. To reward you, I'll send you a gift before we meet."
Declan agreed happily.
After hanging up, the man beside me looked disgusted:
"Fucking annoying—that bastard beat us to it. Acting all high and mighty, getting people off or convicted at will, then having the nerve to take credit with you? Playing that 'dead men tell no tales' game perfectly. No wonder you called me back."
I smiled coldly:
"He's always been this hypocritical. Now that Vanessa's handled, we've saved some effort."
"Vanessa deserved to die, but Declan won't escape either. Time to settle all accounts!"
